I’m making $36 an hour in Atlanta including the night shift differential. I’ve been a nurse for about 1 1/2 years. I started at $23.25 in Columbus, GA.

And there is call shift too. So when I work 24 hrs/ week and Im required to pick up 20 hrs of call a month. And working nights are exhausting so picking up extra is tough. Do you guys have on call hours as well?
yup! i'm not required to pick up on-call hours. when i do decide to work on-call, i work in 4hr increments. the most i normally like to work on-call is 10hr shifts.

Luckily I work in Oregon and the starting rate at my hospital is $40/hour. But I’m wondering, do L&D nurses really get their full 36 hours (or are they frequently sent home)?
i've never heard of l&d nurses commonly being sent home early. if anything they're always needing extra help lol

Do L&D nurses make good money compared to other nurses in the hospital?
you know, i'm not positive. at my hospital we get paid a little more for being in a specialty area but idk how that compares to other places
Do you have to be on call?
would you mind letting me know how long it took you to become a labor and delivery nurse? I am a Junior in HS and want to be an L&D nurse in the future.Also, do you enjoy being one?
You will have to complete an accredited either RN (2-3 year) or BSN (4 year college or something like chamberlain) then you have to take the NCLEX. then you can start applying to L&D jobs. they will be people that will tell you that you have to work in Med-Surg first but thats not true.

My mind is blown. I make $33-$40hr working from home as an insurance adjuster. I was considering nursing but I guess you only make real money if you travel huh?
