    Beautiful explanation of this aspect of social dancing. So many good tips and suggestions here, especially about using that intro time to connect and "get to know" your partner, connect to the music, feel the flow, etc. Love the suggestion: "Be like water". It's a quote from the famous kung fu master and actor, Bruce Lee, but also applies so well to good dancing, good leading and following. Easier said than done, but it does develop with practice and experience.

    I thought about adapting all these concepts to Casablanca, by Daniel Santacruz. I used all the variations and got to know my imaginary dance partner sooo well that we had a coffee, three dates, a wedding, two children and a divorce before all the instruments started to play.

    I enjoy all of your videos very much. This one was very needed. But what I enjoyed equally was watching your first moves AFTER the intro. As a new dancer, I like to watch a beginning that doesn't just first travel left, then come back and only then become interesting. May I suggest a video on creative first 3 or 4 moves? In other words, how to not start in the usual boring manner? Or maybe I will just learn this as I get more experienced??? Anyway, a thought, and thank you again for your videos. They are great.

    • @MariusElenaBachata
      @MariusElenaBachata  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your appreciation. Regarding teaching, we use a basic step to prepare for the move. This way it is easier to start. But for you, with practice, and experience, you will see that you won't need to use that basic step. On the social floor you will be able to start in a totally different way that is up to you.
      We only use the first basic step as a teaching tool :D

    this is very informative. Not seen any other channels telling such tips. Thanks you !!!
    Also, what do you suggest for beginners (like me) making eye contact with partners during dancing.. I most of the time end up looking on the floor!! :P. any tips on that?

    • @MariusElenaBachata
      @MariusElenaBachata  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello :D For the eye contact a trick you can use is to just look from time to time to your partner. Don't try to look non-stop. This is also a skill you practice. It takes time to learn it well. Imagine you are having a conversation. You look into your partners eyes, but also look maybe at his face, a little bit around you and so on. Don't put too much pressure on you. It takes time :D I know you can do it, you got this :D

    Can you please do a video on how to end a dance. Mostly you hear when the end is approaching, but it can be hard to know at which 8. And sometimes you don't pay attention until the music actually ends.
    The other day I was in the pretzel position when the music ended. Instead of just ending there I continued with shifting my follower to the my left side where our eyes could meet nicely in the close pretzel embrace.
    In another dance we had just entered the shadow position when the music ended. I obviously didn't pay attention to the music energy, because when you have enter that position there is some kind of energy build up that needs a release. I made a continuation but it wasn't the best ending.
