I love my Hubba Hubba. The build quality is brill, the space is insane for how light it is and the ventilation is amazing. I've never had an issue with condensation.
@@OutsideChronicles No, mine are the DAC featherlite poles so I can't comment on the Easton poles. I've had no issues with the DAC featherlites though.
I disagree. The last couple generations of Hubba Hubba fell behind the competition and the older Freelite and Carbon Reflex tents were just bad compared to other options out there.

I've had this one in some big rain and a few other 1200-1500 tents and it's never been a problem. I can see low HH being an issue on tent like the S2S Telos with a super flat roof (it's 2500mm, so we'll see).
@@GearPriority I have had mine in rain, not big rain though. I am glad to hear you have had good luck with yours. Honestly, I can't say I have ever had a problem with tents in that HH range as well. But for the price of the tent, I would like to see that rating up a bit more.....but that would mean more weight and or money. It does shed water like a champ. Perhaps they got it just right! I really like this tent.
I love my elixer 2 its been bomb proof for me with no issues..... I'll just put up with the extra weight it's not really a problem. This looks nice though. Great video fella👍
It’s good that the weight is finally close to the 2lb trekking pole tents out there. However this is more like a 1 1/2 person tent vs there claimed 2 person tent! The $400 price tag isn’t worth it..... I’ll stick with my $200 Six Moons Designs Lunar Solo! ✌🏻
Does the door situation allowing g water in during a rain or if the door is wet a nothing issue. 400 dollars for a tent that dose t keep the rain out seems like a waste of money or am I missing something. Try to avoid being in the rain but so this may never occur but if it did. I'm trying to decide if I should return it or not
That is good to know. Been looking for a new 2p tent and the 2022 Hubba Hubba seemed like a good balance between weight and livability. Thanks for the awesome content!
The severely sloped ends on the old Freelite and old and new Hubba Hubba all make for pretty bad livability. On previous MSR tents, I'd often have mesh on my face if using a thick sleeping pad and a pillow.
Great review. I just bought the redesigned Hubba Hubba and used it 2x so far great tent . I skipped the freelite to have rectangular shape tent for more room.
@@OutsideChronicles I also own and use the copper spur and Tigerwall. To be honest for durability I feel the MSR wins but for livability and functionality Copper Spur or TW wins! TW is so lightweight too!
We loved our hubba hubba ... until the poles broke twice (returned each time thanks to MEC"s policy) ... we were fortunate it happened on the way out both times.
A year or two before COVID I picked up an MSR ground sheet for a Freelite 2 at an REI garage sale. Maybe this was before they went to universal sheets. Anyway it does have the grommet in the center and Fly mode is a possibility. A little awkward with the brow pole not attached to the the main pole, but i works.
I can't handle the low walls on the head and foot end of the hubba hubba. If I have a thicker sleeping pad and pillow, the ceiling is in my face. It was a great tent and design 5-10 years ago, but a lot of other tents are better these days.
@@GearPriority Thanks, Justin :) Is there a free standing tent for a similar price to the Hubba NX (or hopefully less) that you'd recommend? I use a lanshan 1 at the moment but I don't use trekking poles for hiking so I don't like to carry a pole just for the tent and I've had a carbon fibre tent pole snap on me once before.
@@UnkemptBushell The S2S Telos and Big Agnes Copper Spur are good freestanding options. I would look at semi-freestanding too though to save some weight. In which case, the Tiger Wall is hard to beat.

Such a strange color combo. Something about the tent's look reminds me of a bodily injury - the swelling of flesh with torn muscle and blood underneath it. Just me?

I’m surprised MSR went with the fly door zipping where rain can get in as you enter or leave the tent.
