You’re flaking has more to do with the Shea moisture, then it does with the gel

Yup, shea moisture is trash! I dont know what the hell is in that crap. When I was using before I cancelled them my hair use to flake big time👎🏿👎🏿
So use it when your hair is fully dry.
@@EnchantedSmellyWolf no u have to make sure your leave in and your gel are compatible which u can do by mixing both products on ur hands letting them dry and if it starts to turn white then you know that those two don’t work together

They see it working well on the coiler textures and change the formula. Its like only looser textures and find good products. I hope the ones I'm using now doesn't change

Naw,sis, that new gel was amazing on my hair. I didn’t have to use as much. No leave in was needed.
Darcey DeRosa I totally agree my wash n go was the best wash n go I’ve ever had when I used this new gel💯✨my combo was the Shea moisture red palm oil stretch pudding✨✨✨Also, there was waaay less shrinkage and the hold was extremely soft but STILL LASTED TWO WEEKS👏🏾
I didn't have great hold with this product.....maybe I'll try it without a leave in.

It’s kit the new product.... it’s the product she mixed it with. I did my sisters hair and tried to use a Shea misfire product and it immediately clumped

I’m liking the new version better than the old 😩... it had so much slip and made my hair more shiny, elongated, and more clumped... I used Tgin repair rx leave in and the Mielle organically moisture Rx hair butter with the Tgin repair rx hair serum and it feels and looks so good
The NEW WETLINE, left my hair DRY and DULL looking. The old one gives me great hold and a lot of shine!

So I have been using XTREME gel which I was very excited about the way it made my edges look . Then I start to notice my hair was coming out at my edges! I took a closer look at the ingredients in the product thinking it may have alcohol as the culprit and was very shocked to find that it contains SODIUM HYDROXIDE!!!! Sodium hydroxide is LYE!! LYE is used to PERM your hair. I am natural. I don't want straight hair. If you look up Sodium hydroxide this is what it says. Sodium hydroxide is very corrosive. It can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and mucous membrane; an allergic reaction; eye and skin burns; and temporary loss of hair. TEMPORARY LOSS OF HAIR? REALLY???!!! Sodium hydroxide is Lye which is something used to unclog a drain by disintegrating the hair and stuff in the drain!!!
I been using this gel for the past 4-6 months and been noticing my hair is dryer and straightening! I need a change asap, yk any similar but without the damage?
I’m so over these companies changing formulas...like seriously 😒. If they truly benefit then ok cool but don’t fix what’s not broken. I like the original because of the thickness and hold, volume and shine plus definition.
I tried the new formula. I think the application is waaayyy better than the old one, but the hold and definition is not the same. And I'm lowkey mad cause I just found a wash n go combo with old wetline that I really like and....😐
I feel the exact same way! It glides on easier, but the hold isn't what it used to be.
Try the spike one for men..its thicker...these companies dont care about black women's hair

I actually think this is better than the last one. I stopped buying the other one because it wasn't as good as the formula from 2016. That's where the hype started. I'm surprised the hype kept going with the last formula. It was so different.

the formula has changed multiple times and I stopped using it on the regular before this last round of hype.
im glad some people like it (cuz who wants to waste/regret spending even *one* penny on products), but there's a plethora of affordable gels if you don't. 😏
Yes it has not been the same since they changed the formula years ago, and unlike the most recent version, this new version flakes with stuff the other didn't.
It also has sodium hydroxide ( the main ingredient in relaxers ) in. I noticed my curls seems limp after washing it out . I had to use a strong protein treatment to get my curls back. So I feel like with continued use , it would’ve probably made my curls borderline straight. Also wanted to add the fact that sodium hydroxide is the first ingredient, if not , the second , which means it’s heavily concentrated with the sodium hydroxide. No shade to the company but I know how long some of us have grown our curly natural hair and would hate to see anyone’s hair damaged.
Wow thank you ! Becuse before liek 4 years ago it did wonders to my hair now i had Covid and stress but i was using this faithfully and my hair was coming out ok! Now i really think this contributes to it my hair is growing back now but still thin in some areas I'm hoping it grows back
I actually love this gel waaaay more now! 😍😍💯🎉Been using it for 5 years and now it's easier to apply, I can now scrunch the crunch to get softer hair, The definition is AMAZING compared to the old formula, and my hair is shinier & doesn't feel as dry. I personally love it so much!!! So interesting how experiences are so different! 😊😊♥️

I’m so glad you tried this gel. I knew you would give an unbiased opinion as an Extreme wetline user. I’ve heard some TH-camrs say it is the same as the original. No ma’am. The hold is not the same and more importantly it flakes like snow!!! I’ve used the original for over 6 years so I can tell when a formula change has been made. Every leave in I’ve used have flaked. I’ve never had issues with flaking with wetline original. Never!!!! I don’t blame the gel for flaking usually, however, the flaking is because of this new formula. Thanks Witty!! I love your honest reviews!! 👍
The last one is not the original Wetline lol they've changed it over the years. The last one was formulated only about 3 years ago and there was another before that
Blue Violets you are absolutely correct..!! I wasn’t very happy with that formula change, but, the difference was minimal on my hair..I’ve been using wetline for so long, every time they make a change I notice smh 🤦♀️...However, this time, was an absolute fail.. lol. When will they learn😱

I had a feeling it was this gel. I would see small flakes the first day thinking it was the gel cast but the next morning when I take off my bonnet to fluff my hair it would leave flakes all over my shirt. 😩 I was using the same leave in and hair milk that I used with the other Wetline. Even the Blue colored wetline gel didn't flake on me.
That gel had my curls defined , shiny and poppin the only bad thing I would say is it does flake a little after 2 days
This new formula worked great with my hair using the new Cantu Flaxseed smoothing gel first then applying the Extreme gel in small sections for my wash n goes. They blend well together in the hair and the hair feels nice and soft after it dries and gives me max definition, best definition I’ve ever had. I will say I had to reapply the gel a bit but I still think it’s great!🙌
Your hair looks beautiful girl. I take a lot of time choosing my leave in too girl, because I be wondering what is going to work with what especially if I change up. I may try your combo. But I have the original clear wet line.
I have the blue gel (new formula) and it works fine. I use a moisture milk underneath, not a leave-in. I haven’t tried the old formulas to compare, but I have gotten great definition, moisture and shine and my hair lasts with the milk and gel combo.

I just tried the new formula today mixed with Mizani Curl Define Pudding for a wash n go. I loved it! My hair is soft, moisturized with defined curls. We’ll see what my hair is like in the a.m. I have the old formula too and will try it on my next wash day. I can’t wait see if there’s any difference in my experience.
I actually tried the new wet line gel FIRST and when I run out I purchased the older one in clear and blue (which I am using now) and I actually prefer the new formula better! The older one I find too thick and I feel like it sits on top of my hair so I am mixing it with my eco styler gel activator...once it runs out I am going back to the new formulae
You're like me lol the first one I ever tried apparently was the new one and I loved it so much because my hair didn't dry into this hard crunch like Ecostyler. Only to go to the beauty store and the only big size they had was the original. I have no idea there were difference until I did reviews today 😢

I used to use the old one and it ruined my hair. There was flakes of white as soon as I put it on my 3c curls. I stopped using it because it seemed to have chemically straightened my hair. It has been about a year. My hair has almost fully recovered. When I went to the store yesterday to get gel, I saw that they had a new version. I came home, washed my hair and put it on my curls. It was worse than the first one. My hair immediately straightened, it had a horrible smell and my hair had white flakes. Since Walmart does not have any other gel in stock. I am going to have to sop using it on my hair😪 hopefully you will see this comment.

both the old and new wetline dry my hair out regardless of my leave-in. gives great definition but my hair feels like sandpaper when it dries
I use the new formula with the knot today leave in and it works well on my 4a low porosity hair if I apply my leave in very lightly. I think the new formula doesnt pair well with heavy leave in conditioners. I love the way this gels elongates my curls. I've never tried the old formula though.
Listen here! I heard everything you said in this video but when that beat dropped at 4:12 I loss my mind lol. I have my sound bar on and it sounds so live that rewinded it to hear it again
I used it after trying the Flaxseed gel from All Naturall (which I didn’t like) so I added this to help weigh my hair down and give it some hold. It worked out. Curls were elongated and well defined and the hold lasted. I have not tried it with just a leave in yet. This was a fix for a product that didn’t work for me. I guess I’ll finish that product by using it with the Wetline gel.
The new formula caused so much damage to my hair when it first changed. I also thought they'd just changed the packaging, but both me and my son experienced way more frizz and no hold. I started getting really bad single strand knots, breakage, and matting.. I'm trying it again after a year. adjusting my routine because I just can't find a functional gel at this price. My wash and gos only last about 1.5 days now. Day 2 I'm already pulling it back into a ponytail. I wish they'd just left it alone. I could do my hair in the shower in under 30min with minimal products. Definitely can't with the new formula 🙄. I also get a lot of white on my hair. I have low porosity so I get build up and flakes super easy

I’ve been trying to stock up as best I can since it’s harder to find or is overpriced online.
I ordered mine from Sally's since they were showing it the Wetline with the green top. However, when the package came it was with the blue top and the new formula with the Sodium Hydroxide in it. I can't find the old formula anywhere.
fairychild97 The same thing happened to me when I ordered from Walmart.com about two months ago. At the time it was showing the green cap but received the newer dark cap. In my area I went to Hispanic store based on a suggestion of a friend and the fact that this product was originally made in Mexico. Not only did they have some in stock, they even had the much larger 77 ounce size. So I’m just about stocked up now.

I tried the blue one with the Doux foam. It is my new go to. 🥰
I like the new formula for my wash n gos. I have tried the new wetline with the Melanin Hair Care Twist Cream and it gives moisture, definition and pretty decent hold. The new gel for me also pais well with the Deva Curl Super Stretch Cream. That wash n go combo the defintion goes crazyyy. It also pairs nice with the Pattern Beauty Leave in Conditioner.
Did it flake with the melanin twisting creme? I have the old wetline right now and im afraid to use that one with the twisting creme

Ahhhhhhhhh!!! 😩😫I love wet line extreme because it gives me so much definition. My hair frizzes easily like yours so wet line extreme is my go to for definition. I'm going to try it and I really hope it still works for me!!!
It DOES NOT blend well with silicone conditioners don't do it man u will get tons of white beads everywhere and ur hair will look dusty.
I tried it with Aussies moist and it's a no-no . Also it doesn't hold your edges at all it's good for slicking down large areas of ur doing a slick back bun or something tho
Try mixing it with leave-ins that work well with Eco styler gel.😊😊😊♥️ Eco and Wetline pretty much like the same products, in my experience. Conditioners are always are hit or miss with eco or Wetline. Leave-in Options are: Paul Mitchell the conditioner, Texture ID Styling Creme, Shea moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, etc. Hope this helps a little🎄😍😍💯
@@alyariel9713 yeah it works best with heavily water based conditioners like renpure argan oil conditioner they blend well it's a nice conditioner too
the wetline with the blue top and the green top are two different gels. one is extra hold and the other is extreme hold. wetline uses different color gels and lids to differentiate between the products
I tried this too. Loved it at first but then by day 2 I had to pull my hair in a puff because the definition was gone

WOW!!!! I have this same exact issue & have never heard anyone else talk about it. My hair breaks through the gel as well & starts to frizz before it starts to dry. It only happens in a certain area of my hair & nothing I’ve tried seems to work. What suggestions do you have to remedy this? I heard you say that’s why you use heavier gels; are there any that you gravitate to in particular due to your hair doing this?

Frizz is very misunderstood. Frizz = tangles.
If my hair is smooth while wet, it’ll still be smooth dry. If my hair is frizzy on day 1, I try not to let it last more than 3 days before restyling because I don’t want to deal with tangles.
I am cracking up, because I just had one delivered from Sally’s and haven’t used it and didn’t notice that there’s no handle on the lid and I have the new formula 😂

Interesting. I have no issues, no flakes and yesterday I know I used too much leave in. I also used wetline with jam conditioning gel and my wash n go cane out pretty good. I'm sorry 😞 things changed for you, it sucks when things change unexpected.
My curl pattern was AWESOME, but my hair felt like sticks.....it was hard and stiff
The blue one said hold 10, 24h as well, I got them both, I have a big Jar in the hold version as well
I had flakes alot of flakes & no definition. My hair got frizzy in 2 day🙄The Xtreme gel isn't the same as the original Wetline Xtreme. You're not alone. I used the same leave in conditioner as I have when using the original. I'm so disappointed 🤦🏾♀️

I use the new formula (the one that doesn't say Wetline anywhere and it has a pretty firm hold for WnGs. It has ever flaked on me either. I use with a creamy, lotion-like leave-in and creamy, lotion-like curl cream underneath.
I like the new one but as much as I liked the original. Let me see what this style factor edge booster styling gel do. It may be new bae
Girl we have the same texture. this gel did the same exact thing to me. I like the other one way better.
My hair looked fantastic after using the product but it left so much dusty looking particles in my hair.
i am shocked!!! the regular formula gave me super soft no hold. the new IMPROVED lol formula gave me hella hold for daysss. i finally love this gel!

Other youtubers claimed it was the same or better but I HATED IT! I almost cried because the old formula was holy grail.
My hair reacted the same exact way. The frizz would start showing before it dried. No type of hold. Totally disappointed b/c I just got into wash n goes this summer with the old formula and they came out beautiful! I had braids in for about 2 months and just thought I needed to hydrate my hair more...nope it's this gel.

I think you just need a better leave in. Shea moisture leave ins have never worked with wetline for me.

I really didn’t like this gel. It didn’t have any hold ! Plus my hair was super frizzy and by the next day my hair was getting puffy. I’m sticking to the blue gel

prettywitty77 When I started noticing the older formula getting scarce, I started doing a sleuthing. You might want try some of the Hispanic/ Latino stores or markets if you have any in your area since this product was originally made in Mexico. Also Walgreens carries the clear with green cap in a smaller size bottle like tube and depending on the store, you may find it in the hair care aisle but some stores have a section with specialty ethnic products Like creams soaps and such. Best of luck with your search.
