    I had been baptized around a month ago, I had instant, and I mean this quite literally, been empowered spiritually to completely overcome my lustful temptations, and for the first time since puberty I had been able to comfortably resist lust immediately after my baptism. However, within the last day and today, I had failed, and I willingly (without strong resistance) gave in. I feel ashamed and defeated, but this video appeared on my feed, and I am most grateful. I now understand how the Lord draws goodness out of evil, and used my own sin and evil as an opportunity to humble me, but then teach me humility. I am greatful, I will go to confession tomorrow, God bless you! Merci!!! 🇻🇦❤️‍🔥🇫🇷❤️‍🔥

      Perfect response on your part -- go to confession!!
      My dear fellow pilgrim, you are at the start of a journey from the created world into a World beyond our wildest imaginations! At first, Jesus carried you. What else would you do for a baby?
      But now He has set you down to walk beside Him. The first steps are hard, because your feet are deep in the mud. Your muscles need to be exercised. But He is there, as you well know, and you can grab His hand in confession!!

      Dear@@RickW-HGWT, excellent! Being Catholic (being Christian) is a lifetime project. No, a better comparison would be to say, it's like a marriage. There are things you have to do to keep the marriage -- saying "I love you", giving smiles and kisses, being courteous, being attentive -- and there are things to deepen the marriage -- the long, deep conversations, the fights that end in greater understanding... it's very simple to love God, but at the same time, it involves every aspect of your life, so all our own complexities enter in.
      So you are doing something very great, though it seems so simple! Thank you for sharing this

      Similar to you, I started to wean myself off of sinful material in preparation for baptism, had the watershed experience as you described, and had a few false steps back afterwards. But your instinct is right and I tell you 10 years later it is an easy and light yoke! Jesus heals us just like when He walked the earth.

      The last battle front you will face is waking up in the middle of the night already “circling the drain”. That is the hardest one to beat, and usually shows up when you start thinking you’ve kicked the habit. As hard as it is, you just got to get up and drag yourself into a prayerful cold shower.

    I'll add a fairly common bit of advice people give when trying to quit an addiction. Find something else to occupy yourself with. Get involved in sports, join a martial arts dojo, take up an instrument, pick up a hobby, make something. Just as long as it's not destructive. Something that improves yourself physically and mentally, and which, importantly, takes your mind off the thing you're trying to quit. Sitting around thinking about not doing it is not only not helpful, but is liable to put you in a space where it becomes easy to break and give in.

      Sport is not an answer for the lust, it's even one part of that problem of lust. Evil spirits use our mind and sinful memory, and cleaning of memory in our brains is not just simple thing to do. The best way to combat lust is to read Holy Bible and pray. If that's not enough you should take time to fast or to pray and go into wildernes like Christ did. Pilgrimage is useful and many times forgotten way to grow spiritually, and care our relationship with Christ. Jesus wants to live with us, so knowing his presence alltime and making things to remember it (crusifix on the wall etc), helps too. You wouldn't like to make pagan rites (porn is mostly as pagan rites) knowing that Jesus with holy angels are there with you. Repent and cut all ties with demons (Luc*fer, Lilith and Leviathan etc). And we pray this freedom from slavery of those sins through the precious blood of Christ, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

    Once I stopped making quitting my top priority and instead focused on finding if God is real, I started going to Mass 5-7 times a week. Since the moment I started going to daily Mass, I've gone the longest without PMO and with the greatest ease. Not necessarily super easy, and I may yet hit stumbling blocks, but for the first time since I can remember I'm not totally at the mercy (well, lack thereof) of this sin. I hope I can one day genuinely believe and give thanks.
    Go to Mass every day you can, Angelus prayer 3 times a day, constant prayers of thanks giving and contrition, ask for faith and humility, Bible and Rosary every day. Make it enjoyable by listening to interesting Catholic podcasts and music and having a good translation of the Bible, finding or printing nice icons, praying with candles, etc whatever you need - experiment. Get a portable copy of the Gospels to read instead of browsing your phone when you're bored. Ramp it up gradually piece by piece - in the beginning I could barely handle getting up on Sunday mornings and had no chance the moment an urge struck, but however long it takes to get better is worth it.
    For me, the tipping point was no longer feeling uncomfortable at Sunday Mass and looking forward to it enough to be able to make the disciplinary commitment to weekday Mass. If you can, please try it.

    Loneliness is a big part of it, how do we solve that? It's easy for someone who is married to say "not to watch porn." I agree obviously, but the problem of loneliness is NEVER addressed!

    • @LumenaYT
      @LumenaYT ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Feeling lonely implies you desire to be loved by a person other than yourself, more specifically from what pleasure that you receive from it. So it isint an issue of having a companion its more an issue of being attached to pleasure. Because you can be completely surrounded by companions and still feel lonely or you can only have yourself but not feel loneliness. But notice in some cases although they are married one or both still struggle with pornography.

    • @tru2thastyle

      @@LumenaYT This is an unhelpful answer; it’s just dismissive! There’s currently a loneliness problem among young men that even the mainstream media is talking about. It’s just a mere figment of our imaginations as you seem to be suggesting.

    • @MarieE-we1tl
      @MarieE-we1tl ปีที่แล้ว +4

      LumenaYT did not write that the loneliness issue was an illusion but that the company of another human being was not the solution. The root of the issue is lack of spirituality : plenty of people have struggled with celibacy in history but they were never really alone as they kept God in their heart. The same goes for couples, who should put God first before each other.

  • @tent405

    I'll tell you my story about how I broke free of porn. Long before I had converted to Catholicism, I had a girlfriend I was sexually active with. One day, she figured out that I was watching porn. She said something very simple: "imagine it was me in that situation, selling my body for money". That was enough to change my opinion on it forever (because I loved her on a level that wasn't simply Eros).
    So I say to those who are addicted to porn, imagine your sister, or mother, or anyone else who you truly love was involved in it; would you still watch it?

    Had to pause this video when Brian mentioned not needing a data plan for his mobile. I would argue that its the complete inverse. You only need the data plan, not any 'minutes'. Even your traditional phone and text messages are increasingly done through the data plan. Any time you hear things like 'HD Voice' or 'Digital Voice', thats using the data plan. These also bypass the traditional nation state plans as well, since its just data. Doesn't matter whether its across the USA and CA border, or across the ocean. There's a reason why every single phone plan these days offers unlimited voice and text with a capped data plan.
    The messaging platforms that use the normal Internet have far more robust feature sets than old SMS messaging while offering increased security. The only people still using SMS texts are boomers.

    By the grace of God I was able to quit cold turkey about four years ago. It was a key part of my conversion actually. As soon as I began to simply acknowledge God and pray, after a lifetime of denial, I couldn't possibly do it anymore. another key factor was realizing that pornography is a weapon. One thing I did do to help myself out was to set up some keyword blocking on my modem that would not allow me to access the most common sites. So even if my fingers strayed in a thoughtless moment I would still not be rewarded by it. Relatively quickly, the impulse to navigate to those sites faded. So much changed in my understanding of women, advertising, manipulation, evil over the next year or so as I began to see just how much our culture is defined by consumption and markets, and how my weakness towards sex and the image of the female body is promoted and weaponized against me. Now I Just can't even watch steamy scenes in R-rated moviEs because all I can think about is what a creepy bastard the director is for trying to Weaken and titillate me to sell ticketS. The challenge now is that it's so ubiquitous that its impossible to move around the world and not be bombarded with lustful imagery (not to mention how that's trickled down to women's everyday 'fashion'). Because I'm wounded, there's always going to be a part of me that can't help but leer, and that's my current battleground in the fight for perfect grace.

    I watched the video and wholeheartedly agreed with everything except for one concession: I don't believe that using web-blockers is a good solution for porn addiction. Truly being free from addiction is like having a chocolate on your desk in front of you, and you can resist the urge to not eat it. In this modern age, that "chocolate" will be everywhere regardless of the measure you take to make it go away. If a fat person bans chocolate from his home, what happens when someone offers him some, and he hasn't built up the will to say no? It is for this reason that I believe training your ability to deal with each encounter in a Christian way is far more conducive to full porn recovery, and no, I don't mean averting your gaze while frantically chanting prayers under your breath. St. John Paul II got it right, I would say, when it comes to dealing with sexual sin.

Any young person would feel out of place and the songs played are in no way appealing to anybody but old people. It just doesn’t feel holy, it feels like a mockery of what mass once was. Gregorian chants and Latin are nowhere to be found, and the only churches in which the traditional Latin mass does take place are few and out of reach. No originality is to be found in the common mass anymore, it just feels like a party for elderly people with a twist of Christianity and the priest’s homily. Today’s Church isn’t the one it once was, and it is a stranger to the times of the Crusades and of the Counter-reformation.

    I offer this as a thought to have during an urge to sins of the flesh. Ponder the scourging of Christ at the pillar, for he allowed himself to be stripped of most of his clothes and scourged most cruelly. The scourges had bits of bone, metal, stone and tore his flesh apart.
    Then turn your thought to the suffering he underwent especially for the sins of the flesh. The most beautiful man to walk the earth, fully God and man, stripped and turned unrecognizable from the sacred wounds and blood pouring from his sacred head and body.
    In the midst of the this, He deeply desires to ASSIST us with his grace to overcome our slavery to our sexual urges. We must accept this grace and become converted wholly to him.

    That's a weird argument. Watching porn is a mortal sin, saying it's not as bad a sin as other mortal sins doesn't help at all. Those who watch porn are not allowed to receive the Body and Blood of Christ's, isn't that enough to describe how terrible it is? Also, carnal sins don't just lead to spiritual sins, they often work together and may be the consequences of spiritual sins: in fact, to be able to watch porn we often lie and show we privilege our own needs over those of our spouses'.

    • @BrewMeister27

      There is a distinction between nature and gravity. Lust almost always manifests as a grave sin. But its nature comes from a weakness to control base desires. Compare that with something like sloth, which is almost always venial, but stems from an apathy towards God. So while committing sins of lust pose a more immediate risk to your salvation, weakness is actually an easier obstacle to overcome spiritually. Apathy is a monumental obstacle to overcome in the spiritual life, even though its sins likely won't prevent your salvation. As Catholics, our ultimate goal is sanctity, not merely abstaining from grave sins. Those who only need to overcome weakness, as opposed to apathy or malice, are actually quite close to sanctity.
      As an analogy, consider the goal of having a healthy body. An athlete with a small patch of skin cancer has a grave condition. But removal of that cancer will bring them to complete health. A morbidly obese person might not be in immediate danger of death, but they have a long road to traverse before reaching bodily health.
      For more information on this topic, I recommend reading a book called Manual for Conquering Deadly Sin.

    What?!?! Our Lady revealed to Jacinta the sheperd child of Fatima that most souls in hell are there for sins of the flesh. Not only that, but willfully viewing pornography is a MORTAL SIN! Sins of the flesh are just as "bad" as "spiritual sins"! A mortal sin is just as devastating as any other mortal sin. Anyone reading this: do not be deceived by anyone preaching a false teaching! Sins of the flesh that are grave in nature, willfully entered into, under full consent are dangerous and, if one neglects to repent and confess these sins, hell is waiting for them.

    • @whitevortex8323
      @whitevortex8323 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I disagree, both are mortal sins and worthy of damnation, yet carnal sins, that are the sins of the flesh are not as bad as spiritual sins, because spiritual sins such as the offence of Pride, distorts a higher good whereas something like gluttony perverts the lower good of food. Both are mortal yet different in gravity. No one would make the claim a lustful thought is the same as adultery or the same as Murder. Yet all of these are mortal sins.
      I think St.Thomas Aquinas addresses this issue.

      Not in the slightest. There is a difference between proper relations within the context of marriage and improper actions outside of this context. A natural desire for physical relations is just that, natural and ergo, good. The action that follows this is where the desire becomes good or bad. If good, it leads to the natural use of it within marriage. If bad, it is because leads to unnatural (and lustful) actions such as the topic of this video. It all depends on whether we direct the desire to a good end or we allow it to direct us to bad ends.

      I recommend Pint's with Aquinas video on Lust vs Sexual desire, he breaks it down in the context of marriage. If you are attempting to derive solely your pleasure, it is definitely immoral because it is self-seeking and thus not love. Whereas Love in the eros form, will the good of the other and their pleasure as well, it is not self-seeking but wishes their enjoyment as well.
      This does not mean however there are not inappropiate forms of physical contact but this is just a brief thing to help you.

    Well said Bryan, but I broke apart from the "Catholic" church and joined the latter-day movement. I must say however, your church is interesting. But I feel like all the chants and icons are nothing but an appeal to flawed doctrine. I am not bashing you friend, I am only saying I disagree with the mediums we impose to purify or sanctify ourselves. Forgive me for the lack of knowledge but the Bible says that Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life, no one comes to the father except through Him. Also, for there is only one mediator between God and man, and that man is Jesus Christ...Call no man father...et cetera. It's clear and plain as day that in order to purify ourselves, we're going to have follow clear doctrine. Our main objection to catholicisms old and corrupt doctrine is that preisthood authority faded away with the death of the apostles. Which in all truth makes sense for reasons I don't even want to begin to explain. Simple put it's old and lies and ruins...the good news here Bryan is that the church has been restored and you too can become a latter day saint. It's not blasphemy or apostasy to forget about the past, especially in things that weren't ever true to begin with. Look friend, all I'm saying is that don't let 2000 years of torment manipulate your mind. That's how I felt as a Catholic and I no longer profess that faith. Thanks man if you have anymore questions ask an elder or bishop of this church. I'm sure they can have in depth conversations about the restored gospel and you can challenge them if need be. There is only one meditator between God and man. Amen. We are referring to Christ as the unique sole meditator who is the God-Man who frees us from sin. As noted in Timothy 2:6. Each of us however, plays a different type of meditation and support because we pray for one another (1 Timothy 2:1).
      Call no man father is hyperbole. In the OT it talks about honouring your mother and father and in the NT, 1 corinthains 4:15, Paul speaks about become a spiritual father.

      @@whitevortex8323 Not quite sure how to answer or where to start, nor am I a fan of starting conversations with people over social media, but if I had any objections they're as follows. First off, in my opinion, the practice of praying to saints is offensive because God should clearly be the main focus, for obvious reasons. Next, saints don't have that power you're supposing because they're not all powerful so they're not truly at your disposal. Which is actually quite scary because if you're not truly praying to God then who are you praying to? I think that's just a way of saying you're afraid or guilty of approaching almighty God. My advice here is to not be afraid of the idea that you're committing apostasy by rebuking what you believe to be true. It's really sad finding out that you're actually being tormented and manipulated by the devil to believe these things when scripture is very clear. Thou shall love the lord thy god with all your heart, mind, and spirit.
