Are there plans to re-enable the display in the future?
@@DeadDealer83 it's kinda difficult to use the stock screen with klipper because of the way it interfaces with the original mcu. My guess would be that it would have to communicate via uart to the pi and then all of the serial io would have to be mapped in klipper source code. Easier, but slightly more expensive route is to use a 5 or 7 inch touchscreen and then use the stock screen for arduino projects (it's a Nextion on the pro and a dwin on the original 3)

Guys I just found out how to do the levelling part, here to share the way.
1.First we use: BED_MESH_CALIBRATE
SAVE-CONFIG
2. Then: set the Z-offset
Code: PROBE_CALIBRATE
TESTZ Z= (+/-value)
Then TESTZ Z=+ or TESTZ Z=- to "bisect" the last position - that is to move to a position halfway between two positions.
Finish: Accept

MY issue is that every time run the PROBE_CALIBRATE my z-offsset is always a different value.

did you get this to work on the Max? i keep getting mcu errors. it seems the usb-b port wont communicate to klipper for me.
@@marcusmcnevinable It worked for a while, then there was a bug introduced with an update. Switched then back to OctoPrint

@@marcusmcnevinable ...and same here. everything looks to be good except i cant get it to talk over usb. mcu error. i did mine on an old laptop running mint, for whatever reason there is an absolute lack of examples of anyone doing this on a max

However my next question is what do other Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro users use to slice their files, and what are some good starting point Prusaslicer print settings to start out with?

Prusaslicer latest version have a neptune 3 pro experimental config that works great. I did tweak it per Maker's Muse "5 slicer defaults i always change"

Hey there, Just about to buy my first printer. Curious if it would be better going with the Neptune 3 Pro and then upgrading to klipper vs buying one of the new Neptune 4 or 4 Pro? I've heard there are some growing pains that this printer is going through. While Klipper is native to the new N4/N4P, I think there are some challenges with the main board. Since the N3P has been out for some time and well known, going with a N3P and then eventually upgrading might be smarter? Thoughts?
Personally, I'd probably get the 3 and upgrade it with a Slice copperhead c-e heatbreak and connect it to Klipper with either a BTT Pad7 or a BTT-Pi with an HDMI5 display (i've done it both ways on my other neptunes). The 4 has an integral MCU/Linux SBC and no way to decouple yourself from using the original RK3328 based processor without a full board swap, which worries me because of the issues I've seen with the RK3328. The price differential makes it possible to have a better performing machine at about the same price point without the proprietary hardware.

I am having an issue with flashing the firmware to my Neptune 3 Pro. I do the make and then the CP to rename the file to ZNP_ROBIN_NANO.bin. I then copy the .bin file to the sd card and put it in the N3P, turn it on and wait. after a min or so I turn the machine off and remove the sdcard. when I reboot, it still has the marlin firmware on it, not klipper. Any ideas what i might be doing wrong?

Ok so stupid me used a SD card that was too large for the board to read. Was using a 64GB card, moved to an 8GB card and everything is working fine now.

I'm really thinking about upgrading my two Neptune 3Pro to Klipper. I'm so sick and tired of the steps I have to do, to 3d print on my N3P printers.
Crowsnest doesn't work on this version. Can you help? Referencing the doc our OS isn't supported (buster) Is there an alternative you can recommend so that we can still use camera's? It's one of the big selling points of Klipper for me.
Ended up just using Kiauh to do a fresh install and it worked just fine.

If I'm using an RPI 5 would I still use the 32 bit version of mainsail? Actually just realized there is no mainsail for the RPI5.
I’m not sure about the 5 but on the 4b I had some stability issues with the 64 bit install

I cannot adjust the Z offset, there is always 4 to 5 mm of air between the sample and the print bed. When I print, the material floats in the air. Do you have any tips?

Yes, the bedmesh wasnt in the Start g Code. The printer goes in the z save zone. With the bedmesh my printer works.
done everything but at first try to print i took below error;

So I'm using the btt 7 pad with main said I got a question maybe someone can help me on here because it's the same printer and set up just - the pie but I'm having a hard time with prints not going to the bed like the printer head is printing far away from the bed I tried going and redoing the calibration on the bed mesh and on the nozzle sorry drawing a blank I been fighting with this probelm all day

Yes only difference is build volume! you can use the same .cfg file but there should be one for the plus and max in the github linked. if you do end up using the pro cfg you can just update the build size values and you may also need to change the bed mesh probing parameters.

Sounds like you'll need to compile them yourself. Feral Engineer has a good video on it.

Hey man love your videos, I've been an octoprint guy for years but want to try klipper out for the first time on my day old neptune 3 max. When I go see Ferals files on github I see a printer config but no firmware to flash.. Id hate to brick my new printer already lol but is the pro firmware the same? Should I flash that or find something else? 😊
firmware bin is all the same. cfg files only differ based on the bed mesh and travel sizes. getting comfortable with building your own binary is important because after a while, klipper builds vary so much that they render the current installed bin useless. I have videos on building bin files and there's enough information inside of printer.cfg to build one through make menuconfig

@@AJG54143 take your pick. Installing Klipper the easy way, installing Klipper on a creality ender 3v3se, cb1, pad7, btt-pi... They all go into it to a certain degree. Installing klipper the easy way is probably the best bet, but the ender 3v3se video is just as detailed.

thats normal... the display is showing that under klipper... may be you have not configured the right port in the printer.cfg (mcu section) ?

Heyyo! Tried flashing the firmware (USB Communication) from the link and it doesn't seem to work on my N3P. The latest regular firmware works fine when re-flashing though, any advice as to how to fix this?

@@printecdynamics Hey, I ended up rewatching the video and realized the "Updating Firmware" page isn't supposed to go through because the touch screen isn't supported anyways.
The update still goes through, see if you can still go through the rest of the steps too.

Move exceeds maximum extrusion (0.722mm^2 vs 0.640mm^2) See the 'max_extrude_cross_section' config option for details
added this line to .cfg file:
max_extrude_cross_section: 50.0
into the [Extruder] section and will retry.
why go with the 32bit version of mainsail and not 64bit?
I had some compatibility issues when I tried the 64 bit version. Only pi 4 and up would support it and I wanted to simplify this guide for any pi. Give the 64 bit version a try it should work the same with a bit of a performance boost

Friend, please help me? I have a small problem after installing klipper; - The nozzle is not calibrating, it is getting too high from the base/table. I can't adjust it or maybe I'm too stupid not to fill it. hahaha
this is a z height problem, make it a negative integer and it should get closer to what you need!

How fast does this speed up prints?
you can go from 50-60mm/s to 100-120mm/s pretty easily
why cant we just get this plug in stuff built in i dont want to have to build a Ras Pi. too much work. does anyone sell an already made kit?
The neptune 4 series machine have all this built in!
I tried it now for a few weeks. But its an pain in the ars.
Sometimes it prints fine. And then the next print it "not level" anymore, and the first layer is horrible.
Somehow it feels it doest really use the bed mesh and offset somehow after a while or reboot/shutdown.
So i am goeing back to stock firmware. But probaly n3 pro and n2s will both go and buy an bambu Labs.

I bought another printer with a modified mks pi board and added another klipper service to it, connected neptune via USB and it works. Printer: kingroon kp3s pro v2, connect via ssh (user: mks, pass: makerbase), KIAUH is already there

Half of the tutorial seems to have been cut out , how to find out my board and how to install a clipper on the board itself via kiauh , for example , as if everything is so simple , don 't be fooled

You never explain WHY we would want to do this. Also if Elegoo is pushing this idea, they should release a version that supports the screen, or ship a version without the screen (at a discount).
I don't think any printer ships with a screen that supports klipper. You need a high-end, hi resolution display.
It allows you to input shape and resonance tune with an adxl345. You can print at lightning speeds. Easily cutting print times in half or more.
But it requires people to use their brain a little..
They just announced N4 and N4P with klipper 👽
@@arnoldburian6116 Stock Ender 3 screens work fine, and discount reprap screens also work. most people use HDMI or Pi screens because they have touch support and they can use KlipperScreen

Kind of glossed over a couple of things here, 1 is you can actually BUILD the firmware yourself in klipper, and 2 is how to get the MCU information incase it's not the same as in the config file you leech off someone else. totally not explaining the config file is also a big mistake as literally that's like 90% of peoples issues with klipper
Of course you can run a makefile in klipper but then I’d have to also explain how to ssh into a pi and navigate debian. This is a BASIC easy to follow guide for the klipper beginner on specifically the Neptune 3 pro. Also GitHub is an open source sharing platform so I wouldn’t call that leeching. Tuning a printer config file deserves its own video. Either way thanks for watching
