I don't even like football but I can listen to Patrice and Nick talk about it all day.

    • @anon4932

@E Cox I already am, the funky 70's music is giving me nostalgia and I'm not even old or American. I can totally see myself liking this sport, providing the teams don't look like the Hutus and Tutsis on HGH.

If Patrice took better care of himself and was still alive, the Nick and Patrice Show would be my favorite Podcast. Nick's good on his own, but Patrice and Nick obviously feed off each other, great comedic chemistry.

Much appreciation for the ones who post these clips, they are as current now in 22-23 as when first aired. Patrice's material is still SO relevant, he gave this take on "Elephant" as well but not with Di Paolo sitting next to him. Two tough guys who said anything and everything without fear; no racial topic off limits, and mutual respect for never holding back; both HS footballers.
I fully agree with the Rugby take, and I appreciate hard hits, and before 2022 I agreed that football should go back.
If you still think that after watching a lifeless Damar Hamlin, maybe you should play. That was real, scary as hell, and will never appear on Jacked Up.

That, sir, is The Assassin, Mr. Jack MotherFuckin Tatum. Don't ever disrespect pure evil.
Until Damar Hamlin was clinically dead after he was hit, Mr. Tatum's hit on Daryl Stingley was the scariest, most raw sports moment I ever watched live.

the reason they hit hard is because of those helmets and those pads. Its like boxing, back when they did it with no gloves, guys would hit each other in the body a lot and took a lot less head shots, why? cause they didn't want to break their hands and wrists. Thats how the sport evolved (until they introduced boxing gloves of course), they probably started out trying to take each others heads off but figured out it wasn't such a good idea.
Its also why those rugby players don't hit as hard as the NFL guys, not because they're weaker or less athletic, its because they're not wearing all this gear..

The NFL did the right thing. After the take a knee during the anthem nonsense, the last thing that the league wants to deal with is the PR nightmare of forcing players to go back onto the field after they watched one of their teammates almost die. That would be a PR disaster that the league does not need. Just imagine the slave driver narrative that the media would run with if that had happened.

Rugby is rough. Its football over there. There are no time outs, no helmets, and when a player gets tackled, he throws the ball in the air and anybody can catch it and run.

  • @Chaotic-Star-3-6-9

in rugby league and rugby union they used to shoulder charge and kill eachother they had to evolve away from that. in nfl you wear pads so you can shoulder check each other without worry with pads and helmets on. in rugby league and union they even teach grappling and jiujitsu wrestling techniques now in the modern level at the highest levels when engaging in tackling to put someone down more efficiently without killing your body and others. If nfl got rid of pads it would evolve new techniques in the same manner to stop splattering eachothers brains all over the field. patrice was right the only difference between nfl and rugby is the protective layers. take those away and it would end up like that as well. those guys get way more knee and shoulder recos than nfl guys

As usual with americans, taking instant offence to the idea that rugby isn't as tough as americasn football. Ever actually watched rugby? Those guys are as hard as fuck. And some are huge. When you go out and you see a rugby club on a night out, you can spot them a mile away, a crowd of the biggest guys you've seen all night.

in rugby, you don't tackle with your head. you tackle with your shoulder and aim for the legs.
would love to see an american 'football' team take on the All Blacks at rugby. no breaks, no substitutes.

    • @josephmelendez8370

That's because it's a completely different sport, quit making it seem like Rugby is such a vastly tougher sport when TH-cam is full of Rugby players and fans doing reaction videos to American football, most of them saying that they rather stick to rugby due to the violence of American Football. It's simply two different sports, the All Blacks would get absolutely slaughtered if they played an NFL team in American Football, and they would sustain a lot more injuries than if the NFL players played Rugby.

It had to have been around the middle of October 2010. That's when all those hits that Nick DiPaolo was talking about happened. It was like one weekend in the middle of the season, 4 big concussion hits, and almost immediately, Rodger Goodell comes out and starts saying they're going to fine guys for legal hard hits and hits on defenseless receivers and all that...those hits were all 10/17/2010, so probably the week after.
