    watching again. Spent a lot of time in desert SW. Done here? Shovel. Rock hammer or pick might be good additions! And a mule! Smiling, I am!

    I have two knives in my backpack, and a folding saw also which I would need in camping. I have an ax which I keep at home and should get one to take with me when backpacking because the ax I have is a double bladed ax since that is what I was raised up using since childhood. Having a single bladed ax would be good for camping use and that is what I will get later.

    I have the same MaxPed Jumbo i used as part of my bushcraft kit. I agree with the 3 tools discussed here. They basically complement each other.

    I live in the Arizona dessert,most utube videos are made in the woods.Are trees are palo verde and mesquite, these trees are small.Not much water to be found.I have Cold Steel Leatherneck ,would be ok with this knife a lone.But I carry a trapper model pocket knife,a soldier stainless pocket knife.I also have Sthil forestry hatchet plus Sthil 8" folding saw.Almost for got,I also carry a Buck Selkirk 863 fixed blade. What do think about my choices?You make good informative videos.A lot of logic for a young man .I am a old fart ,that soon wii be 72.But have slot of experience hunting in Arizona.Thanks for making these videos.

    Your knife and your axe can be sharpened. Your Silky saw cannot be sharpened. The blade is made of hardened steel. Sharpening the tiny triangles on the tips of the blade with a diamond hone have little effect. When the blade becomes dull, it must be replaced. That's an expense I cannot afford. I regret my purchase of a Katanaboy 650 Silky saw. It worked great until the blade became dull. I'll look for a saw with a blade that can be sharpened.

      I know this was a while ago but you can get an old but reliable bucksaw with teeth that can be sharpened with a chainsaw file and ceramic rod you can find buck saws at garage sales and flee markets for little to no money

    What kind of your bushcraft knife

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Reeve Pacific "Survival" knife . Bushcraft is the opposite of survival.If you want a bushcraft knife you have to look something like Morakniv Bushcraft Black or Mora Classic 2

    • @AlaskanFrontier1
      @AlaskanFrontier1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hahaha while it is true, I use a CRK Pacific, I can readily show anyone that it makes for a pretty good bushcraft knife.

    the axe would be way faster than the saw, the end would just not be flat.

    • @AlaskanFrontier1
      @AlaskanFrontier1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It depends on the weight of the axe, and the size of the wood. Saws can be pretty quick.

    Watching you burn more calories than a thoroughbred racehorse on simple tasks, give me cause for concern. I hope you've progressed over the last two years; Alaska's no place to make mistakes. No place for that type of knife either. A simple Mora 110 or Robust will serve you better for the skills you require; and never travel in the bush without a sharpening/honing devise........ the axe & saw choices are great.

    • @codymarkley8372
      @codymarkley8372 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@peetos-chan2835 it's little things adding up. He was just doing certain jobs that are better done by one of the three tools he brought. Leveling a tree could better be done with an axe. He isnt doing bad at all, my only criticism is to be more relaxed with that saw, it's a pull saw, so it does all the cutting on the pull stroke.
