3 tool combo is the way to go. That is my approach for multiday solo forays into the forests here in SW Pa in the winter which is peak season for me.
My goto setup is the LT Wright Outback 3v in a saber grind which I personally find is the best all around camp grind, the Agawa Boreal 24, and the Granfors Outdoor Axe.
Im typically in a Hilleberg tent so not building shelters but for camp chores I love my 3 tool setup.

Here is my cutting tool "trifecta":
1) Hatchets - hardcore hammers survivalist or council tool dayton (both made in the USA)
2) Folding saws - silky outback edition pocketboy or gomboy saw
3) Fixed blade knife - Survive Knives GSO 5.1 knife (magnacut version)
And honorable mention goes to Leatherman - surge or charge
All good choices, and honorable mention.
I have become quite partial to using the Council Tools Woodcraft, and Camp carver axes/hatchets. Great video by the way.

Excellent video my friend. I like the trio you chose. Especially the hatchet. I agree with you that it's better to carry a trio of specialized scaled down tools that are easily carried on the belt. Keep the great videos coming bud 👍

Excellent video Dan!! My favorite is a Blind Horse Knives pack horse, Silky Pocket boy and a hults bruk hatchet. Gets everything done I need to do in the mountains!! Stay safe and have a great 4th of July!!

A combination i've carried on many an adventure!
Besides in an emergency scenario, I never understood why people insist on using one tool to accomplish the three primary 3 tasks that are covered with these three tools
Even the videos that show this
A knife is a tool
An axe or hatchet is a tool
A folding saw is a tool
When planning your excursion, choose the best version of the tool you will require based on your goals
If you want to be prepared, take all three and the means to field sharpen the knife and hatchet or axe
You can achieve that maintenance/sharpening with a single piece of equipment
And don’t complain about carrying them

Where go here in Missouri I often don't need an axe or a hatchet so I typically take the Condor bushcraft parang, typically the saw i use is the silky big boy outback and for the knife it usually changes, but let's go with favorites lol, so I bring the White River Knives ursus 45. Usually im not trying to stack wood so the axe is to much bulk for what I usually do, but that parang will take care of all the batoning I need to do. However you really can't go wrong with your setup thats for sure, thanks for showing. 👍

@@ochocobushcraft1742 that parang is such a versatile and handy tool, it can do almost anything and its not crazy priced. I can't remember if you've ever tried one out or not but definitely do if you get the chance lol.
I have used a parang. Not in a video. It was nice. My Dad taught me how to use a hatchet even before he taught me how to use a knife, so a hatchet is a big part of me. I always come back to it.

Thank you! My Victorinox Ranger 78. I count it as my 4th. Gives me an extra knife blade, a small saw. An awl, and a few other tools. I really like the saw on it for making deadfalls and such.
I personally use a gransfor bruk small forest axe the silky big boy outback and currently in the market for a good bush knife. Looking for something 4-6 inches with a scandi grind. Bouncing between that and a golok tho.🤔

I'm also in Ohio, the north eastern corner, and Im having issues finding land and trails to go explore. How do you find spots to practice your bushcraft skills on? Could you make a video pertaining to finding good "bushcraft zones"? I'm not opposed to a short drive, and would really like to be able to camp overnight.
I'm in Oregon. Oregon is filled with public forest land and wilderness, as are Washington, Idaho, Montana. I don't know about your state. Maybe internet search could help?
I've been debating switching out my hatchet/axe with a chopper instead. I'd lose the hammer but a quick maul and bobs your uncle
The Morakniv hatchet isn't bad for the price. I use it along with a silky pocket boy and a Puma White hunter as my main knife. I really enjoy your videos but I have a question for ya and I don't mean it in a bad way but when are you going to make yourself a wooden mallet?

Just for wondering sake. I wonder how well a 10" to 12" length kukri would measure up to the performance of one or even two of the trifecta?
I'm going to have to get a kukri and find out.
I like the kukri. carries a Becker for a little while. It's always fun to try out different tools, and not everything works the same for everybody. Would like to here how you like the kukri.

Just scrape once with your ferro rod. You did it about 20 times.The way you did it seemed wasteful. Great video otherwise.
