Well, there's at least ONE thing I like about this movie: Two of the Singing Busts in that one scene were apparently modeled after Paul Frees & Thurl Ravenscoft, the voices behind the Haunted Mansion ride's Ghost Host & the baritone Singing Bust respectively. This movie is a prime example of the parts being greater than the sum of its whole, with the sculptors, designers & artists having the better idea of what the Haunted Mansion was all about, while the execs in charge of the project steered the whole ship in the wrong direction.
I was a bit thrown off admittedly at Luke Ski's Gilbert Gottfried impression because it kind of sounds like Wallace Shawn. It took me until it was mentioned in the credits to get it.

I'll admit, it's more convincing in the Live Action Aladdin and Galaxy's Edge video respectfully, but maybe I just think that because he dresses up as Iago in one video and says Jafar in the other. I dunno.
In all fairness to the movie, there *were* such people as free blacks in the United States before the Civil War, even in the south, and especially in the Louisiana area, with a rich cultural and historical background of it's own. Some of them were even quite prosperous--one man, a Cyprian Ricard, was quite wealthy, owning two plantations in Iberville, LA...along with almost a hundred slaves of his own. Fascinating stuff, really. 'Of course, also in fairness, I also kind of doubt the filmmakers put that much research into the script, either. P.S.: The Mansion we know also might not have been the center of a plantation...it might have simply been the retirement spot for a pirate named Captain Gore, built with the bloody plunder of his ruthless trade, and now cursed as his prison in unlife after he murdered his own bride-to-be when she uncovered the truth of his terrible past. But then, that's *another* good movie that Disney didn't make, even though they own the right to it.
+Otaking Mikohani Yeah, but at least this film MOSTLY takes place in modern-day, so you wouldn't expect it to come up as much. When you set an entire movie in the Reconstruction era, whitewashing slavery is far less forgivable.
The actor, James Baskett, did get an (honorary) Oscar for his performance (which is actually a big deal, since he was the first Black Man to get an any sort of Oscar, and Walt had to fight really hard for him to get any sort of recognition at all.) He still wasn't able to attend the premiere in Atlanta, but that's because of Segregation and Jim Crowe Laws, and had nothing to do with the movie itself.
Great video, Tony. Your personalities are fun, and your critiques were thought out. Though, I wonder what Count Jackula's limits are with what horrifying things he wants. Meat Grinders, Clowns that eat flesh, A pit to Hell, The Thing, Grey Goo, Black holes. All could look brilliantly eloquent if you painted them properly. And I know because.... I truly believe Lasseter doesn't have a cynical bone in his body. But Lasseter is not the entire company. According to reports I've heard, when it came time to greenlight the final film in what was then Pixar's five-picture deal with Disney, Eisner had the choice between greenlighting Toy Story 3 or this new "Cars" idea that Lasseter had. Eisner picked Cars STRICTLY for the new merchandising opportunities. It'd be easier to accept that they continue to make Cars movies for reasons other than selling toys if the movies themselves were better. Hell, the Toy Story movies are LITERALLY ABOUT TOYS, but no one calls THEM feature-length toy commercials. Cars 2 didn't suck because it had a terrible idea (I've heard worse) - it sucked because it over-relied on Mater, and Lasseter was clearly torn between his executive duties at Pixar, Walt Disney Feature Animation AND Walt Disney Imagineering, all while trying to direct a movie. MAYBE Cars 3 will finally be a return to form (that teaser trailer certainly rejected a lot of the empty candy-coated spectacle of the first two) but we'll see.

The part of Winston Zeddemore in Ghostbusters was written with Eddie Murphy in mind, but he couldn't do it because at the time he was under a strict contract that only allowed him to make movies for Paramount.

***** i know that it probably was't the reason john lassiter wanted to make it but i can't not have been a contributing factor, and even if it wasn't, it was most definitely the reason Planes was created.
I truly believe Lasseter doesn't have a cynical bone in his body. But Lasseter is not the entire company. According to reports I've heard, when it came time to greenlight the final film in what was then Pixar's five-picture deal with Disney, Eisner had the choice between greenlighting Toy Story 3 or this new "Cars" idea that Lasseter had. Eisner picked Cars STRICTLY for the new merchandising opportunities.
It'd be easier to accept that they continue to make Cars movies for reasons other than selling toys if the movies themselves were better. Hell, the Toy Story movies are LITERALLY ABOUT TOYS, but no one calls THEM feature-length toy commercials. Cars 2 didn't suck because it had a terrible idea (I've heard worse) - it sucked because it over-relied on Mater, and Lasseter was clearly torn between his executive duties at Pixar, Walt Disney Feature Animation AND Walt Disney Imagineering, all while trying to direct a movie. MAYBE Cars 3 will finally be a return to form (that teaser trailer certainly rejected a lot of the empty candy-coated spectacle of the first two) but we'll see.
Tony Goldmark have you read the plot of cars 3? the villains are literally described as millennials. maybe its just because I'm 18 (and therefore ruining everything just by existing apparently [my generation apparently killed the McWrap]) but to me that just sounds really obnoxious.

Not really. Most Ghostbusters fans with even a passing interest in behind-the-scenes trivia know that story by now, and there's a TON of Ghostbusters fans out there. It's no more obscure than referencing, say, Eric Stoltz in a Back To The Future review, which I also did.
