I see this one on ali express at around $400 and also some that look identical on their site that show the camera and HDMI output box for $90. It's hard to tell what's right
Ya there are alot of IMX290 fakes going around all with IMX185 sensors so be careful. You will even see some listings say IM290 IMX185 so they can claim they told you.
Hi Dustin, thanks for your clear video. I have found that the camera's without auto focus come in 36Mega Pixel and even 41 Mega Pixel. But with auto focus this specification is left out. Research showed me that the IMX290 is based on a 2 Megapixel architecture. Do you have any idea why this is left out? And how many Mega Pixel it actually is? Looking forward to your answer, kind regards Maikel
It is really easy to get lost in the world of microscopes and their descriptions on AliExpress. I think the confusion comes from the fact that some sellers list the still image resolution, others the video resolution, and some both. I also believe there is a huge difference in image processing.
It’s convenient to solder through it, are there any delays, the depth of the image allows you to accurately get to the place of soldering? Or is it better to use a trinocular microscope?
@Kolin After a bit of practice it is not very difficult to solder trough it. I found that it helps to turn off autofocus during soldering. Also helping is if the light comes from a fixed point. I think a trinocular microscope would be a bit better but this microscope is very good for it’s price!
That is a really good question. I just played around until I was happy what I was seeing on the screen as well as the HDMI output. So never used the manual. I assume you already tried to Google for the manual. Otherwise, I couldn't tell you. I'm sorry!
Excellent video and thank you. Yes I do want one! LOL. Is the second USB for Udisk, as I see sellers put it in their listing. How do you use it with capture card. What sort of hdmi Splitter and capture card you are using? Please explain your set up. Please do another review as you have used for more than a year. Pros and cons would be good.
I use a cheap HDMI splitter from Ali. And capture it with a Avermedia Live Gamer Portable. But for the best results I record the footage on a USB flash drive.
I have the microscope but I ha e a few questions 1. How exactly do you turn it off? I just unplug mine, what do you do? 2. 13:50, how do you get all those options, I just have control, I have mine connected to my monitor via hdmi and to the wall but I’m not seeing those extra options idk 3. How do you record? When I plug a drive in it lets me take a picture but says video recording failed. My microscope is on version 2.4.2. Any help would be much appreciated man, thanks!! 😄
Hi Johny! 1. Same thing, I have to unplug it. :) as for 2. and 3. I do not have my microscope here atm (I just moved) so I can't check the firmware. But for the menu, I didn't have to do anything special, just hover to the top left corner and the menu is there. Maybe it is a different version of the microscope?
Is this a 'real' IMX290-based device? It has been shown that many of the hdmi scopes on aliexpress are being marketed as having IMX290 sensors, yet really have inferior sensors (such as the IMX185).
@@DustinWatts Olá, tenho estava a ver este tipo de câmaras. Não sei se o youtube faz a tradução do português para o inglês? Pois tenho estado a estudar a questão dos sensores aprofundadamente.
@@DustinWatts Okay, I see now that you're from the netherlands. AmScope's European representation is located in your country. Hi Sorry for being negative, but the titel says Microscope review, but all you do is wasting time babbling about soldering and dirty tweezers...?? Where is the review of the scope. Fifteen minutes, but only three of them is about the scope. This is a soldering video because thats all you talk about...
Too bad you feel this way. I do believe that although it is not and in dept review about all the functions and build quality, it does show the quality of the microscope. Maybe if you mute the video you get a sense of the image quality. And, luckily TH-cam is full of reviews of this microscope and I believe you will find one that suits your needs.
Hi Dustin, that's a nice piece of equipment and a great video to show it! BTW. did you receive my e-mail message? If not, please check your spam folder. In addition to the boards I'll send you some parts which you may find interesting to try using your new microscope...
Greetings! I was tricked by the seller of the Eakins microscope - Eakins Microscope Store. There is no HDMI image, the sensor sent not a high-quality Sony IMX 290, but a cheap IMX 307. I would like to ask you to check the presence of + 5V on the 18 HDMI contact from the microscope. Is + 5V supplied to pin 20 (VDD5) FE1.1S USB 2.0 HIGH SPEED 4-port HUB Controller? My FE1.1S controller has a №20 pin off the board. Besides, check it out, please. Is there +5V on pin 18 of the HDMI connector?
It seems that many people buying the cheaper versions (which are incorrectly labelled IMX290) and it turns out to be Imx 307. It also seems that all TH-camrs who bought the more expensive £300/350€/$400 “autofocus IMX290” has the correct sensor
