I've had one of these since last year and I love it. Performance even with the LED ring turned off is very good. I've added a 40mm (does not screw on) circular polarising filter and that cleans the image up even more, eliminating some of the harsh reflections. I use it for very fine SMD work and as a bang for buck this thing piddles all over the Tagarno and Inspex ($6k) digital inspection scopes I use at work.
Ingmar M just purchased this microscope today ! Can you send me a link to the filter you bought ? Are there anythings I should know about the microscope ... will also be using it for SMD work 👍
How comfortable is it to solder using this by looking at the screen. I think most people prefer microscopes, or? I don't plan to do but maybe a few pieces a year... or less... so... no big deal
I thought this comment was a great little work-around. HOWEVER, this method simply didn't work! The scanner just blatantly refused to work. I had to reinstall the damn board back into the scanner. By some stroke of sheer luck, I must have rattled something the right way, the scanner has worked flawlessly since. Real head scratcher (;
Could you recommend a setup for knife sharpening? I would like to mount the camera and lens 10-12” above my work. The ability to zoom in very close with good image is critical for me. I have vision issues. Thx for any assistance
OMG this will be one of the best video on TH-cam because you just started from a simple microscope camera i though it will just a ordinary reviews of that camera, then you teardown the camera then you start explaining how it's works and function, i am like waoo what i am just watching, and you bring it another level it makes me more amazed when you bring different lenses and adapter you are trying to using it for regular photography waoooo. I just love it..... Thank you for sharing it is really helpful for everyone who are interested in biology and Photography..... Can i use that video on my Channel ?
I have a few Canon and Fujinon lenses from 70s color video cameras and im wondering if i can use these lenses on this camera for something like live tv (with an extra monitor for each camera) since it has HDMI output. These lensea are completely manual.
6:54 solder bridge on the Lattice chip. The reason the manufacturer removes markings from the board.....they don't want the camera reverse engineered..
Is this the 14mp version? I bough one, a different brand, but looks more or less the same. I couldn't get the software to capture at 4320*3240 pixels ? I saw they specify this can be captured by using the TF card. Would there be a possibilty to achieve this using the USB connection?
great advice - what lens would you use to record // doccument surgical procedure, (operating field about 20cm diameter and I would like the camera and lens 1m - 1.5m away --- the camra - UHD - 25meg 1/2/5''. Do you have any thoughts ? thanks
Interesting! For years I've been experimenting with trying to DIY digitize cine film frames from 8mm and 16mm wide film. I'm looking now for a good but affordable "machine vision" style camera to connect to my PC via USB 3. I also have some better quality c-mount lenses already, so ideally I'd like a camera one can change lenses on. Ideally I'd like 4K resolution but HD would be OK. I particularly want to start learning about controlling the camera through software on the host computer, I've been dabbling with Processing code or could look at Python coding for this. So can anyone recommend a camera that meets these criteria please? Thanks, Chris
Is it really "zoom" if you're just moving the camera up and down? What I mean is that the lens allows you to set the focus, but it's not a zoom-lens..?
Can you use this camera as a reading camera? What kind of lens should i use with this camera? Explanation: I like to have a hdmi-camera above my desk that ponts to an A4 or A3 sheet and i want to see the whole sheet on my monitor. I also like to zoom in to view smaller prints much bigger on my screen. Also use as a microscope whould be nice. So what kind of lenses do i need with this camera to do the above? Thank you
I am using this camera through a microscope. Even with the light rain at full power the image is still very dark autoexposure doesn’t seem to make any difference. Has anyone got any tips?
Oh, you're still using the Lenkeng transmitter! What firmware version did you end up using? Mine produces suboptimal 1080p results when connected to (and played back on) a RasPi 3B.
I'm on 4.0.0.0.20160427 - it works ok - though it it seems to drop a packet every couple of minutes, which corrupts the image for a few seconds. Looking in the firmware repo (bit.ly/2yvsKez) it looks like there is an upgrade for me, so maybe that will help with my issue. As it happens I'm using it to monitor a RPi3 for my day job, and the results I'm getting for 1080p are pretty good - I have it configured for unicast transmission, so it doesn't spam the network, and then I use 'socat UDP-RECV:5004 - | mplayer -' in Linux, and that gives me a nice low-latency video feed (with occasional corruption).
Nice video, I watch it all 20 minutes (normally in YT videos I get tired about 5mins). I see another review video for a 2Mp VGA camera for electronic use (SMD, PCBs), but the image in a 17inch display is very similar to your 13Mp camera. I think this type of camera is a great tool for electronic repairs. Thank you.
I don’t even care about the camera or the content the music does it for me 😮 Lol just kidding very nice review of a lot of equipment. That is Premier level. Holy cow nice work. Thank you 👏👏
i got this lens too on a fullhd usb cam, very blurry like in your video. they could have done better. i went with a a adsm301 since it cost almost the same but has much better quality, even tho its more plastic than this one
Hi! First of all, thank you very much for this instructive video, it is a very good work, congratulations for that! I have one question. I purchased the same microscope with the aim of connecting it to the laptop and take close up pictures of tool wear, in the machining industry. But I am not able to connect it to the laptop since the HDMI in it is output. You say in your video that you use an HDMI extender, from an HDMI input to RJ45 ethernet cable, but what do you use next? How can you see the images in the computer so that you can print screen for example, or record videos? If you could tell me, I would be very pleased. Thank you very much in advance!
Hi, take a look at this older video of the HDMI extender: th-cam.com/video/SAvGylthpkU/w-d-xo.html Also, definetely check out the notes: opentechlab.org.uk/videos:003:notes Good luck!
Hi Dear OpenTechLab. Your videos really great. I'm planning game console repair videos. I need a good zoom camera. I think you camera zoom is very good. I want to show all details as nearest to audience. Please give me an advice. Thanks inadvance.
People keep throwing working lenses in the recycling bin at your place of work. What's up with that?! And why not auction them at ebay and buy something nice for the office.
Not on the bill, no... there's a lot of dust on that PCIe SSD, but I doubt any of it came from cocaine - but who knows? It wouldn't surprise me if someone in silicon valley tried it at one time.
Best video I've seen so far on these 4K industrial cameras. Thank you so much for your work.
I'm glad to see you back!
Love your videos

Excellent review. Thanks for posting.
If I've got a bare circuit board to look at, I slap it under my scanner. But that doesn't work if the board is too lumpy.

Yes it was interesting video.
hi mate do i need to download any app to use this microscope pls anyone knows thx
how do you flip the image by 180? I can't work like this, I put my hand from the left and on the screen I see it on the right, help me

Awesome, a new video! Going to watch this video tomorrow as it is night here :)
Don’t quite understand what’s going on??? Is it proving that Eakins Microscope can take all those lenses that showed in the video?
You reminded me to Christopher Frost when you talked about chromatic aberration
Welcome back, I hope the needed UK style plug means you're settling in nicely!
Thanks! Great to be back. We're not totally settled yet, but it feels good to have an office/lab space for the time being.

You're right... it would be better to call it a prime lens. No adjustable zoom functionality beyond adjusting the height
Find it curious that you get your Internet by microwave. Any further info?

That Axis camera, man! Strange encounters of the OpenTechLab kind :D
Can you zoom in and out using the + - buttons?
What about the low light performance ? Like to use it as more a 'normal' camera and not only for macro zoom.. Thanks
Nice to see you again :)
Is there a C mount adapter so I can use this lens on a Canon DSLR camera? Or is the adapter only for mirrorless cameras.
i have the same camera but the picture is very dark!Your camera bright is working?
Some tvs introduce some lag for video processing. Use the "game mode" it it's available.
How did you recorded the video from eakins camera ? This model doesn’t seem to have TF card. Please suggest a way.

My recycle bin at work doesn't have any fancy lens in it. Can I join you? :) thanks for the great videos as usual
how can i connect this camera to my laptop to record video
Eakins microscopes are missing one important detail - a power switch. Many users see a red LED and cannot power it.
Oh, you're still using the Lenkeng transmitter!

Is possible activate rhis camera with HDMI by my computer?
I can't do it :'( 😣

Hello sir zoom options in camera
what's focal length of this lens?

Good video, nice review. Can I ask what you do for work?
I'm an embedded software engineer!
OpenTechLab is this for a security company by any chance? Maybe it was all the security based equipment that did it...
I'm a contractor, but yes I have done quite a bit of work in the security industry.
what is the Megapixel of this camera

Good video!
r u happy with that?
It would have been cool if you could have put the sensor under a microscope. ;)
I thought about that- though I don't think you'd see much with only 100x zoom.
That is actually a 2mp camera, test it.
@13:24 is that a butt plug ?seriously this is supposed to be a family friendly channel !
TRIGGERED !!!!!

Hi
Considering the plug you replaced you've already moved.
Yup - gotta love me some of that spicy 240V power!
