That is awesome that Elton has given some of his songs to other artists over the years, I was surprised about Empty Sky and Skyline Pigeon though, that's cool that there were other versions that came out before his first album.
The Rumour by Olivia Newton--John is one I really like. Suspect the lyrics were about the issues Alt had with The Sun: "Once the rumour spreads, the truth is just a thing of the past."
Gotta say it, while his partnership with Bernie Taupin has produced loads of hits, he and Tim Rice also made a great combo and their work is probably some of Elton's most critically accaimed music. The Lion King is a masterpiece, from the animation and story, down to the music. And Hans Zimmer's spectacular score blended very well with Elton's songs. The Road To Eldorado is another underated gem with a great soundtrack, simply cuz Elton and Tim are heavy hitters.
While he created some great songs with tim I don’t feel like the lion king despite its success was so great. Someday out of the blue was a great song! I much prefer Aida to the lion king, and you were remiss in not mentioning “the legal boys “ also written with Tim. That would be on my setlist if I could make a setlist for him to perform😊
Ringo Starr one doesn't surprize me, he's a mediocre musician and song writer at best. The guy isn't even the drummer on some of his own albums! It's been 50 years since any of his solo output bothered the charts.

Elton and Bernie are definitely the best singer/songwriter duo of their generation. Everything they touch is instant gold!
I would argue that Skyline Pigeon is probably Elton’s deepest cut. Such a beautiful song with an incredibly beautiful story!

Bad Side of the Moon - April Wine should be on this list

A little piece of me just died when I heard the narrator pronounce "Aida" as "Ay-da".

I'll agree with that to some extent. I don't like his voice either. It's only because he's an ex-Beatle those songs were thrown at him.
Border song by Aretha Franklin??
