Tom David ..All the timing of a brilliant stand up , beautifully told and all the passion of an old school Sunday Teacher .....So very funny ,brilliant ...But you sure dont want to be on the other side when these 2 guys were at their best and in their Pomp !!..
As a Kiwi, usually it hurts when someone scores against NZ. Not this time. If you didn't love that score you didn't love rugby. It still gives me goose bumps watching it as the great Cliff Morgan brilliantly narrates. Unforgettable. And what a character Tommy David is, too. A born story teller. But I don't like it when I google his name and up comes: "Tommy David, *Rugby league* player". It ought to say Rugby union. Tommy, issue them a warning to change it or they'll be visited by a Welsh front five. 😉
The tale gets longer in the telling! Those guys dined out for it for years and good luck to them. Both teams had agreed to run the ball prior. Phil's sidesteps are immortal. JPR kept his head on his shoulders. John Dawes what a dummy ;). Tommy David and Derek quinnel. Gareth finished the job. One Englishman. John pullin. Four times a winner against the allblacks. Twice as a lion. Once as a barbarian. Once as England captain touring new Zealand. Rip John xx
I have never met any of these fellas but what graet rugby heroes and tom david tells a very funny version , I envy you , hope you had a graet night at rhydfelin
Brilliant! I was 9 years old when I watched that game on TV. I grew up to play rugby for my local club, The Gentlemen of Moore RUFC (for better or worse for 27 years off and on). On the morning before the first game of the season every year I used to watch that game on video (for the younger ones, that's like streaming but it involves putting a tape into a machine) Just to make sure that I knew what our game should be and what we were aiming for. I/we never came close but it's the thought that counts. And these guys went for a beer or several with the opposition after the match. Rugby is not just about playing.

A great try, involving JPR RIP twice
Great stuff but look at the size of everyone in the crowd - shiiiiittt!
That try......plenty of tries out there in todays game.
John Dawes "a great dummy"
Is Edwards speaking English?
Come to think of it Tom David.....
Thanks for taking it, the way I meant it to be.
Humorous.
These days with Woke bla de bla, you might even be construed, as to be offending the cat.
Can't understand what he says about Phil Bennett
1:18 "People say that was skill. It was sheer bastard fright!"
ROFL!
That pass to Gareth Edwards though hmm.
