One theory I have and kinda love, based on how envy wasn't an original deadly sin, but was added later after 2 of the sins were combined to keep the list at 7. Leviathan overthrew bathamet, the prince of despair, then commenced to change the ring into something that will cause the chaos he desires, envy. Meanwhile bathamet wanting to stay a prince went to the ring he can concur the easiest, apathy. From there he exploits Belphagor's laziness and takes control and twists the ring into a new sin.

Our past is just a record of present moments that we remember. Our future is just a prediction of present moments that we may or may not have. Each present moment is all we really have. If we choose to focus on hope, it pulls us forward. If we choose to focus on despair, we fall into the abyss.
To put it simply no matter what happens to us, the power is in how we respond to it. You can chose hope and let your circumstances make you better person or you can choose despair and become worst.

One theory I have is that these beings connect with envy through possession, This is because in the conceptual arts of loan sharks Marcela is called a half possessor, and she has fish membranes and a particular shine similar to that of undersea beings. This makes sense because they could have bodies they "wanted" (and envy comes from wanting what others have).
My other theory is that we are making a mistake when it comes to assigning a ring to each species, this because Asmodeus is an Ars Goetia and not a succubus (Although it has already been confirmed that the succubi work for him with the appearance of Asmodean crystals), Mammon appears to be a jester demon and not a loan shark, Beelzebub seems to have a queen bee theme and not a hellhound and the fact that Lucifer is a fallen angel could be related to fallen humans, being like "his father in sin". For his part, Satan does seem to be a being like an imp and Belphegor signs his company with a candle. And that is why I feel that there is something that does not add up in the theory.

For ur second point I theorize that some species are just like mixes. Like you can have pure bloods in a sense of the species but because the imps can travel around some are just mixed
Not related to Envy but interesting thing I realized about this episode that I want to mention is that it has several moments highlighting the imps’ place in hell’s society
In Richest Cup “where the poor pour for you” we see a tiny imp serving tea, while torturing Stolas Striker comments about how rich elites like him took everything from him, and the Karen at the hospital refers to Blitz as a “filthy Wrathian” (referring to imp’s home in the wrath ring) with her son even commenting about how they “let fire toads in here”
Stolas's phone in the beginning of the most recent episode gets a text from Asmodeus. Probably about a deal he's making to get that crystal for Blitz so he doesn't need the Grimoire anymore.

I just think the idea of the envy ring being in charge of social media is brilliant.
What if the Envy Ring is like full of Met Galas, Red Carpets and private beaches and other ritzy stuff? Also, Striker told Stolas he lost people he cared about to rich people like him...what was his past like and who was the Goetia that did it? Was it Paimon or Andrealphus?
I personally don't think that it was Andrealphus because Stryker saw him in the coffee shop and it would have been easy for him to shoot Andrealphus as he was expected to solely kidnap Stolas and therefore could have caught Andrealphus by surprise
In the Ars Goetia, the Marquis Forneus is depicted as a sea monster and the Duke Vepar as a merman so they'd be right at home in Envy. It could've been one if them or perhaps it was even Leviathan.
If the ocean of greed is constantly leaking, it would eventually drain entitely. I'd like to think the greed ocean isn't natural and was actually created and continues to get refilled so it can be used to dump waste and maybe be used as a tourist attraction with beaches.
I'm thinking that for accesibility's sake the depth in envy could be like subnautica, where there's mostly a dark abyss but there's some relatively shallow areas where smaller creatures and younglings of bigger ones can live.

Come to think of it, the ocean being artificial would fit with Mammon copying the other rings amenities. Perhaps Mammon serves as an allegory for the perceived modern music industry: commercialised and derivative.
I really hope that they go a unique route with the princes, although it would be interesting if Leviathan was still a fallen angel...since he's usually depicted as being a fallen draconic angel called a chalkydri
Envy is not just about envying those around you, but also making others envious of you.
How the various rings of Hell are structured still intrigues me. Are they all tiered, like a descending stairway in Dante's Inferno? Or do they stack on top of one another like a cake? If the latter, I'm curious as to why they all have a sky rather than ceilings.
The reason we don't see a ceiling is because it is tall enough to be obscured by mist like how we can see dirt under a puddle but not the ocean floor

I think a sad possibility of why Leviathan took Envy is because he's envious of others finding love that he can't have after God killed his mate.
I remember the story, God crated 4 creatures: Behemont, the king of Birds and 2 Leviathans.

You know, ignoring the demons, the Lust ring just looks like Earth's own Las Vegas. Mostly due to the blue sky.
I think Lust is supposed to be more of a red-light district. Although I could imagine Mammon's home city being based off Las Vegas. Underneath the glitz and glamour, it's a system designed to separate people from their money.
This gonna sound dumb but the envy ring demons being aquatic and the ring being purple reminds me of Homestuck's sea-dwelling violetblood caste, trolls with gills, fins on their cheeks and violet coloured blood they are elite of Alternia being only one tier below the fuchsiablood empress of which there's rarely more than two at a time (and much like Hell, Alternia is a horrible place designed to imprison and torment everyone in it)
Well , if than higher level of hell , than harder to live , that's explain why all sinners in the highest level of hell and cannot go to lower levels . That fact that sinners are upper than most of demons just compensate that they stuck in the worst ring of hell

It took me a rewatch to see the rather light candle that the nurse had. From the start I called her the hybrid bimbo nurse, but seeing her candle confirmed she's half bapho and half Envy citizen, kind of like how Waxi from Ozzie's is part bapho but the parentage was further back because she looks more like an imp with a candle on her head. The nurse looks more half-and-half, with the bapho horns and candle mixing with the octopus/squid details. And with her color, and obvious drugged ineptitude, there's an argument to be made that she might be Doctor Soma's daughter or granddaughter and got her cushy job in a nice place by nepotism. They do share a pastel My Little Pony aesthetic, something lacking in baphos seen in other rings. The ones dating Pringle are tough and dark, while the cage dancers are far more saturated than the, again, soft and fluffy pastels of Sloth baphos.

There's a good explanation for why leviathan took envy,god created behemont and 2 leviathans,one was very envious of god and convinced him to betray him,as such god killed the mate so leviathan got extremely envious of him,later on he would challenge behemont and ultimately won in a fight as envy was not one of the original 7 deadly sins,would explain why envy is so isolated because it is the newest sin,one that nobody wants to go to I guess

Ok, maybe someone else already noticed and told you about it, but just in case Im actually the first one to notice. Did you see that the Nurse from the Hospital wanst a pure candlehead demon? Like did she have four eyes and ehr mouth was almost beak shaped and lastly her hands, those didnt have fingers but sucktion cups. So that Nurse looked like a mixture of Goat and squid.
I suspect that she might’ve been part Envy demon, given that some of them are depicted as resembling squids and octopuses.

Sloth absolutely would be the epitome of "old or easy money", meaning all inhabitants are probably heirs of huge fortunes or work extremely cushy jobs and they don't need to work to earn their keep. Envy I think would be upper middle class, they work but they make good money still. However, they never really have as luxurious a lifestyle as those who are in the sloth ring.
Makes sense that in hell, "trickle-down" economics actually works.
One idea that I hope would be in the envy ring would there to be pirates, even though they fit more to greed than envy, envy would be a good candidate for pirates due to the sin of envy meaning jealousy, and that pirates are known for stealing goods and riches something that would match with envy. And that the pirates are those who want to rank up in hells hierarchy especially lesser demons. The reason I made this because in season 2 episode 1 a younger blitzø was talking about pirates and I thought this would be good foreshadowing.

Fun fact. Out of all the twelve episodes (including pilot) there are the same amount of earth themed episodes as hell themed ones if not including the pilot then there are more hell episodes in the show so far.

Could be Pride is particularly run-down because it is invaded by Angels once a year murdering everyone in sight, followed by the remaining overlords engaging in a turf war tearing up the place.
It's also possible we've seen especially run-down places in Pride because I.M.P. is headquartered in Imp City. Imps being among the lowest of the low and rather numerous, the place is probably very poor and overcrowded.

I think theres going to be native deep sea creatures in envy one being fire toad which is the thibk the kid called blitzo. And scens deep sea demons are the ones that can live there it would make sense the kid know what a fire toad was and not blitzo.
I think that maybe, it is in the envy ring, that we can find fish and shellfish products for consumption, since there, is the only place with fresh clean sea water, excluded the greed ring for the pollution, making main profit form it, been one of the two business, with the other be social celebrity, since their lifestyle is completely unknown to other species that didn't come from there.
The structure of the envy ring, being a combination of the best of the other rings, being leviathan's demand that his realm not be inferior to the others, in any possible way.
And since Chas from hell of a boss is a shark demons and we do end up seeing a bunch of shark demons it seems in episode 7 the Aziz episode out on dates Aziz in a lot of them seem to really resemble both Striker and Chaz
