This is why companies should stop focusing so much on beauty. Now days fans expect their idols to look flawless instead of looking like normal human beings WHICH IS WHAT THEY ARE.

And korean articles should stop posting fake news about how korean idols are so poreless and glass skin when in fact it's not true! I've seen alot of korean people not having thr best skin as to what the media wants to portray their people there.. they are sending bad message to people all over the world when in reality they have skin textures and acne like any other humans. And having skin texture is not a bad thing cause our skin needs to breath but the fantasizing something unbelievable and untrue should stop🤦‍♀️

exactly! They're idols and they should focus on their music, not pleasing others' eyes. It's so annoying to see companies treating idols like dolls that need to be perfectly manufactured rather than treating them like humans. NingNing's case made me very upset at how people are so quick to bodyshame. They should be focusing on their idol's music and their talents rather than how they look. Everyone has their own beauty standards and just because someone doesn't fit the stereotypical standard doesn't make them any less precious. All idols are hardworking and went through a lot to reach where they are now. So respect and love everyone and stop bodyshaming.

Same with actions and habits,.they shouldn't even be angry or sad because fans get so overly analytical forgetting they too have bad days. Same with stuff like smoking or accessions f bomb ,yes it's bad and yes they promote to kids but it isn't the end of the world . In fact the more human and genuine they are the closer they feel it feels way more genuine and just makes you love them more . This is why people love when idols make darker songs about actual problems and feelings they encountered or fight like every other person

Companies are going to stop focusing on beauty when fans stop. Their obsession with "visuals" is ridiculous, it's silly that they like idols just because they fit their definition of "pretty".

As they are idols i agree they should take care of skin but the visual madness is just increasing. Now a days people only care about visuals not about their dancing or vocals or even composing, producing skills. Only visuals are cared by the public. No matter how good their talents are if they dont suit their taste so much hate.
I do agree a bit importance should be given to visuals but it should never overshadow their skills.

This reminded me with Jihyo during sixteen. The photographer didn't want to put Jihyo in the Major group because she looks fat. I was completely shock because she literally look fine and even had good facial expression. People should really stop making unrealistic standards. We should start putting on clothes that fit our body rather than changing our body to fit clothes.

Everytime i see jihyo she has amazing expressions in fancams. I agree she isnt best dancer in twice but her expressions are amazing. She trained as actress for few years. Maybe that helped. Jihyo was never fat. Its just korean standards for women are way to skinny. They should remember they are girls not barbie dolls.
Jihyo has nice visuals and amazing voice. She deserved to be in the major.

how could u expect idols to focus on their music? considering 99.9% of idols cant properly sing, nor have they ever studied any music theory, also they probably cant even read a stave nor understand the music their companies provide to them. idols are nothing more than massive produced merchandise, most of their selling points are faces and bodies, that's why kpop fans criticize their looks so much.

Nope. If they just focus on music they can be singer not idol. But agency rarely debuting singer.
Just stop being delusion all of idols can sing/dance/rap in same time. There a reason why in kpop group have "position". Main vocal, mean he/she has best vocal among the other member. Then we have main dancer/main rapper/visual.
If your bias is visual, then don't expect too much for their vocal.
I am agree, even idols has "visual" position, they also can be vocalst/rapper but not the main.
If idols just focus on music why trainees in survival show can't debut? Even the judge praised their vocal? Why agency not recruit them? Why someone like minyoung (sorry i am not sure her name but she in jyp sixteen) who have great vocal not choose by jyp??? The reason just she not good enough for "her look", and jyp already pick jihyo. But the strange thing, people still complain twice's singing ability, meanwhile they are pick the member, and kick someone like minyoung.

Idk why people get shocked when they find out that their idol's pic is photoshopped and get mad at the idols for it... Also I don’t know if it’s exactly only the publics fault here, the standards are built by media and they can promote what is good and what’s not, just takes a good marketing team, as the consumer is so enthralled on the standards that when it falls flat the person is like WHAT?

In my opinion, photoshop cant be controled, companies, fansites and media outlets do it all the time no matter if the idol doesnt want it. In photoshop and selfie apps, the idols face and body are edited and whitewashed to be even more on the korean beauty standard. Many idols say they hate apps like sn0w but they have to edit their selfies the way the company desires.
The styling as well create multiple illusions. Shorter clothing to create longer vertical line, insoles, padding. Sometimes the idol is on the korean beauty standard, but the stylist dresses them in outfits that arent for their body shape, making them look boxy, bloated and messy.

@@notyourdays Let's just that the relationship between Japan, China and Korea is a whole... can of worms that traces back to history. Koreans dislike Japaneses because of what they did to them back in the WWII (look up Korean comfort women just for one example), and they hate the Chinese because of things of waaaaay back, but mostly recented became heated due to many Chinese people's comments that many aspects of Korean culture like Hanbok belong to the Chinese, that Kimchi is Chinese or that Korea was a part of China, etc... And it caused a lot of animosity that had settled down a bit. I won't say Korea is 100% victims, but they generalize the Chinese a LOT when a lot of the faults lay on China's disgusting government. There's a reason Everglow isn't that popular, why Chinese idols just aren't that popular in Korea and they just go back to China eventually. Like, come on you basically wake up and go to sleep knowing that when you got up from your bed your body looks completely different from the way you went to sleep, and when you eat or drink is the same thing your belly gets bigger. Idols r performers they need muscles to be able to dance but they r dragged for a bit of weight on their legs because of photoshoped pictures of them. Now an seeing an alarming tendency on gg idols with almost no legs curve,no substance, its like matches or baguette and they do not by exercises but by ps, they inject poison to reduce and contract their muscles!!! In Korea u can remove some ribs to affinate your waist!!! U can remove 6 ribs and that what somi did, that's what they r doing to have that slim figure. It's no more their noses and chins now they r doing work on their bodies too. No one care about it because their fan support them even tho it is dangerous, extremely dangerous

It's so hard to say when it comes to retouching in kpop because artists are yoyo dieting all the time, so their weight is constantly fluctuating and they do look different for every stage. The problem isn't the photos, though. It's the standards they're trying and often failing to live up to because they're not machines and diets aren't consistently effective. Plus, the mixed messages of both their companies and fans and antis alike telling them to slim down and eat well and shaming them no matter what that really feeds into their need to participate in diet culture in the first place.
