Aldo is practically defending his belt from higher weight classes for ever now. He's got the hardest job in the UFC. He's still going through them like a train tho...
Although I'm pissed we might not get to see Aldo vs Pettis, I'm glad Aldo is sticking up for the integrity of the sport. I don't want to see guys keep getting title shots from switching weight classes.

I understand it wasnt his best showing but honestly in my opinion he didnt change his style at all......His style will either produce a spectacular knock out or a decision, thats just the way it is and has always been.

Aldo has a point, it would the 2nd fight in a row where he faces a guy without a single win at 145. But that Pettis fight sure sounded fun, maybe they could have Anthony challenge the winner of Bendo vs Gil and then drop down to featherweight.

A fight where Aldo loses most likely isn't gonna be an exiting fight that people are interested in. There has to be chances for both. Dana's not an idiot.
I think he means Rhonda's fight has brought much more exposure for the UFC than any other fight.

Aldo just fought Frankie, a 155 pounder who dropped down. I think Aldo is just wanting the guys in his division to get a shot instead of 155ers dropping down. It would be a great fight but I think Aldo just wants his division to start rolling forward again. If this IS the case all Pettis has to do is beat the no1 contender and hes straight in there.
I have been watching UFC since back when the only way you could watch it was to rent the VHS tapes from the video store. Dana has grown into a Hell of an ambassador for this sport, and become very compassionate yet hard nosed UFC president... Haters are going to hate, its just what they do...

Aldo is a beast. He'll fight Cain Velazquez if he has to... These decisions are made by his manager and trainer, André Pederneiras. A very good manager, by the way.
Who cares if Pettis is not #1 at 145. He's #1 at 155. A weight class above. So just like Frankie; Pettis has been beating up on bigger guys than him. Pettis' frame is perfect for 145. Him and Koch are practically the same size. And Frankie lost 2 times in a row and still got a shot. Pettis actually won his last fight.
You kinda proved his point. No one really knew or cared who liz was UNTIL she joined the UFC. Cyborg has been on top of the women's mma circuit for years. For MMA fans we know who she is but casual fans are oblivious to her because she has never been relevant outside of pounding cans in Strikeforce.

I understand if fans and fighters think Cub Swanson or Ricardo Lamas deserve the 145 pound title fight before Pettis, I am one of them, but, if Edgar earned a shot, Anthony Pettis sure as shit earned his shot. Jose wanting nothing to do with Pettis is really suspicious. Something is rotten in Denmark.
Notice how Dana said after Jones fights Sonnen, he's gonna fight Machida...meaning, in no way conceivable, does he see Sonnen winning that fight.

That applies to both fighters in terms of growth so there's no point in discussing that as it's opinionated. Frankie, although an ex champion had never defeated Henderson at 155, which Pettis has. Frankie on a 2 fight losing streak fights Aldo but people are more against Pettis (well it seems it from fan reaction). I just think it's strange but I do agree it's a business first and foremost. All I'm saying that Pettis is more deserving than Edgar was.
Aldo faced keeny florian, mike brown, chad mendes, cub swanson and manny gamburian. Just because you don't know who these guys are, that doesnt mean they are not great fighters

Well Pettis is Dominating at 155, and wants a shot at the Champ, i say give him Aldo and see what happens. Its not like if he isn't good enough to give aldo a good fight.
if you're talking about damage then a lot of fights shouldn't happen. Lots of people don't do loads of damage. Pettis definitely deserves the fight, you're right in saying the other guys deserve it but aldo vs pettis would be epic

We've never seen pettis at 145. He's quite small at 155 so I'm sure he'd have no problems cutting, but you can't just assume a guy will be awesome in a lower weight class. He shouldn't really be given this fight, but I don't mind he has been.

What gives Aldo more stock?. A victory over Jung Chan-Sung, a victory over Ricardo Lamas, or a victory over Anthony Pettis?. It is the FANS that make these fighters, why else do you think Dana White says he will not be following the rankings for match ups exclusively.
And had the fight been five rounds and Machida KO'd him in the 4th, nobody would've said shit.

well who else is there? everyone else has just come from a title loss or a number 1 contender loss which knocks them down the list. and the only point im trying to make is that pettis is top 5 material. im not talking about whether he deserves a shot at the title. he has only had a few fights in the ufc and the only one he lost was against guida. all im sayin is that he is good enough to be in top 5. but there are other fighters who clog the top positions like malendez, edgar, maynard and diaz.
None of the UFC Champions should have a choice who they fight, there the champion, they should have to fight who ever the UFC puts in front of them. Thats just something you should have to deal with.
Volkmann especially, fitch is a little more active but all his wins lately have been nothing but unanimous decisions. if you look at fitchs record when he first started fighting in the ufc he was getting submissions and tko's and was only winning fights by decision every so often. now, his last 10 fights have been him winning by decision or losing. and ill tell you right now, all of fitchs wins after he lost to gsp were all wrestling matches, and maybe a few punches thrown here and there.

Aldo refuses to fight pettis. Aldo gets stripped of title and Lamas Vs Pettis for the "vacant title". Just Fight Pettis or you is gonna regret it Aldo.
If you think that the UFC are not scouting and have all this in check then you need to learn more about this company. They will have already thought about the future before making these divisions. Invicta will grow WMMA and a lot of other shows will grow the 125 pound division. It's a business and a successful one at that, they will not let it fold.

People may Bitch and Say Aldo is ducking but truth is Pettis doesn't deserve it, not only did he never beat a top 5 guy like he lost to a non top 5 3 fights ago.
So Aldo, who is probably heavier than Pettis, who has dominated the division for a long time now, is refusing to fight after beating Edgar. Edgar LOST to Benson Henderson, who was beat by Pettis. The Edgar fight happened, so why is Pettis so ridiculous?. If Jones puts the beat down on a few more guys in his weight class he'll be moving to heavyweight, would you then deny Jones a shot at Cain?. Aldo took on Edgar on a loss but won't take on Pettis after beating Stephens, Lauzon and Cerrone?. hmmm

Cerrone is TOP 9~10, Pettis deserve a shot at LW, but now he is fighting at FW, he's not going to win that shot, just Aldo has that chance.(Dana said).

1st Pettis never fought a top 5 guy ever, 2nd Pettis got beat by Guida, 3rd since then the UFC only gave him strikers and BJJ guys cause he will lose to any credible wrestler.

Jones fighting Machida is a stupid idea. Machida hasn't shown anything that would make me think he could win. Maybe by points, but considering Jones, that would be a long shot. They should wait for the winner of Guffy vs Mou IMO and see what happens
Regardless whether or not pettis deserves it, Aldo is going to fight him and in the ufc anybody can beat anybody at any given time, and personally I think pettis is going to win because he is a smart fighter he is a creative fighter, and Aldo doesn't want the fight and pettis does
