Gloria, I started the Keto diet a few months ago, but River’s discussion of Carnivore is compelling. I can recognise that sugar is the killer for me. Carnivore has always intrigued me, so I plan to give Keto a few more months, then switch over to the other. I’m 79, and I feel better now because I’ve lost weight. You sound so enthusiastic about your results, and that gives me hope. 🌺

For years I was told by medical staff that Meat was the problem with my health. This led to veggies and grains being 90% of my eating plan, with little improvement health wise. In the last 2 years, I have added meat to my diet and stopped all raw veggies. The more meat I added, the better I felt. It is very rare now that I even have cooked veggies and I feel GREAT. P.S. I rnjoyed it too. please give us sn update going forward. Am 78 and over a year list 100 pounds on Keto. All #s improved . No more pre diabetes, blood pressure improved greatly. My dictir told me at my request that fir my height and age 🎉and bone structure that my goal should be 160 . I got there and doing keto last couple of years have stayed there. Fibromyalgia did not go away and did not improve much. Also 2/3rds of the way through the 100 pound loss, when my health was indeed much better in most areas , i had a massive stroke over entire left hemisphere of my brain. But miraculously was never hospitalized and did not suffer nerve damage. Cognitive stuff yes but not too bad. In short I was extremely lucky! Will not ever be going off keto. It does start coming back without care. m

I started eating the carnivore diet this past July 11th 2023. So over 6 months now. I’ve lost 45 lbs and feel so much better. I’ve been very sick with many autoimmune diseases. I’m so much better and enjoying life again. I don’t plan to ever go off. I eat grass fed beef and salmon and occasional chicken and lamb and pork and anything my heart desires.

I’ve been on carnivore for about 9 months now and have lost 40 pounds , without being hungry and my cravings went always fairly quickly. More importantly, my arthritis pains and swelling are gone, my pre diabetes symptoms have gone (tingly bottom of feet), my blood pressure has stabilized, and my hair is looking great. I do go off it for Christmas, bday parties, etc, but for 1st time in my life, I’m able to get back on the wagon the very next day. I’m not ever going back to the SAD diet (standard American diet). I’ve haven’t felt this good in years and I just turned 58 yesterday.

Nigella Lawson's tip for perfect poached salmon (I now always cook it like this) is to put the salmon fillet skin down in a small pan. 1/2 cover it with water and bring to simmer. AS SOON as the water is simmering turn off the heat AND turn over the salmon so is is flesh down. Cover with a lid. Leave for 4 mins, then serve the salmon.

Oh wow river! I’ve lost 75 pounds and over 10 inches from my waist in the last 9 months. I started keto and gone full carnivore. I use to be a raw vegan 10 years ago, so I’ve tried everything to lose weight and get mentally healthy again. This has actually worked for me. And best of all: my 75 year old dad who has been a severe diabetic for decades (on insulin shots and pills, plus blood pressure meds) is totally off all meds. He has reversed his diabetes in less than a year and he is losing more weight than he ever has in his life. It’s been a huge life saver.

    • @tb54321

If you do raw vegan and cut out sugar, you might do ok, but you have to work hard to get enough protein and fat. Plants have a lot of toxicity as I found out, but for about a year I lost a bunch of weight. Unfortunately I gained it all back and added more. I was about 250 pounds last year when I started keto. With carnivore my cravings are finally under control and my hormones are regulating. I never had that with my vegan diet.

Being in an emotionally abusive situation (& please people, don't berate me on why I must leave. I'm 60, partially disabled & no longer able to support myself), my stress level is beyond extreme. I started developing an ulcer 4 years ago, which ruptured last May. I know the collapse of my immune system stems from poor gut health- though I've always been a healthy eater.
When you mentioned stomach problems, I broke down. It felt like an answered prayer. I will research & try asap.

I stopped doing carnivore, because of holiday family pressure, after about 6 months of consistently feeling better than ever. I can barely walk again and everything always hurts like it did before trying carnivore. I never realized how bad it was before until now. I started again about a week ago but it takes about a week of consistency for me to start feeling better. People will instantly sprout nutritionist credentials as soon as they don’t like how you eat, and they will be relentless about it. I told my family to F off, moving forward their input is not needed or appreciated. Beware of people feeling like they need to interfere in your life because they think they know better.

@@Lioness_UTV I second that. It’s pretty hard to stick to: no seasoning beyond salt, limited to no dairy, no alcohol, no artificial sweetener, no sugar of any kind, very low to no sweeteners at all, no plants, it’s pretty easy to keep a calorie deficit because meat is so much more filling. Anyone who is trying to lose weight should do at least a decent daily walk or some sore of physical exercise and consume 1 gram of protein per pound of their ideal body weight. I wish I hadn’t allowed myself to be pressured into destroying my life. Now I’m an anxious, angry, depressed, painfully inflamed person.

Been eating carnivore for a year in February. I had osteoarthritis and the pain and inflammation was terrible. I have MS and other health issues, since cutting out sugar, carbs, and processed food, I have never felt better. I've regained some mobility , stopped the arthritis in its tracks, don't need fugly support glove anymore yay!
I never enjoyed my food so much,! My sleep pattern has normalised, huge benefit for me. lost 4 stone in under a year, energy levels through the roof and the mental clarity I have now is amazing. Yes, no more brain fog!
Good luck River, I was going to give it 3 weeks, I'm still here and not planning going anywhere. The benefits keep coming for me and I'm loving having bacon and eggs every day. Started doing omelettes cooked in bacon fat.
Have some double cream in your coffee! Best of luck 💚🥩🥩🥓
The one downside is have to buy smaller jeans!
Seriously though, I wish I'd found this sooner, it's been life changing for me.
Don't give up your coffee, the cream might suit you better than the raw milk , and it's delicious.

It's definitely worth a try for you. Pain is horrible to live with constantly, you get to the stage where you're willing to try anything.
This worked for me. The first thing I noticed in the first week was I was bloated the whole time. Then week by week things started to change. I wasn't expecting results instantly. I've been eating rubbish for decades so I thought it'd take a lot longer for my body to react to this way of eating, but you get so many benefits, they keep coming.
I'm not mad strict, I have coffee.
I actually enjoy cooking for myself now. I even made carnivore noodles!
Enjoying preparing food is miraculous in itself. I feel I have a new brighter future ahead of me now. Such a better place than this time last year. In every aspect of my life.
      I don't procrastinate anymore!😂

I’m glad you pointed out the damage plant diets do as an environmental and human cost. So many smug anti-cow people don’t realize how much harm soy farming replacing cattle ranching in third world countries has done. Cattle ranching allowed indigenous people to live on a portion of the land, the ranch owners hired them to help especially during the seasons more hands are needed, this allowed them to grow their own food in patches of land where they lived supplemented by being given beef during slaughter so they may have been poor but they had a home and never lacked for food. They often topped world surveys on happiness. The huge soy conglomerates came in and bought out the ranchers. Soy farming is mostly automated (so no need for human jobs) and uses every last inch of land so the indigenous people were pushed off the land, lost their homes, pay and meat from ranch work, gardens plots, and now do go hungry and have to live in squalor on the outside of the cities. So a few cow farts are nothing compared to the soy damage.

Iib was carnivore for about two years and loved it! Ribeye was my primary food but also eggs/bacon, ground beef, pork. I also intermittently fasted (and still do to a great degree) by necessity. As a nurse, it was common to not have a chance to eat during a 12-hour shift. Carnivore = about 12 pound weight loss, much more energy, great sleep, ZERO cravings for anything sweet, perfect vital signs, and never sick Not a thing to complain about until meat prices started skyrocketing here in the US. Costco ribeyes that were $8.99/pound suddenly increased to $14.99/pound. Bacon @ $8 to $10/pound. Whipping cream for my coffee: $1.98/qt now $4.98/qt. Simply put, I could no longer afford it. The irony is I am now fatter, far more sluggish on a carb-infused diet. My HgA1c which was 5.3 is now 5.7 and edging up. Do you find it interesting that our healthcare representatives rail against carnivore but keep us coming in for our statins, insulins, elevated b/p's, etc. Hope you enjoy it as much as I used to, River.

The first few days I had the keto “flu” and felt like crap due to carb withdrawal but now it’s passed thank goodness. I feel good and though it’s a long road ahead I’m taking it one day at a time. My advice to anyone doing this type of diet is to prep your foods so you always have something to eat when hunger or cravings hit. Good luck River. Can’t wait to see your results.

My dear River. You are such a sheer delight in this crazy world. I just have to congratulate you on being your true authentic self. You uplift my day when you have a broadcast leaving me with a smile on my face for hours after and a continuous giggle bubbling up remembering your amazing sense of humour and the way you say things, expressions included. I have been a seeker of self improvement all my life as a ballet dancer and yoga teacher. Have tried every diet known to humans I believe except carnivore. My greatest problem is low energy and lightheartedness. The thought of a diet that could make me even more tired is not for me but I am extremely interested in your journey with it. You are the most well spoken intelligent and humorous person on YT and I feel so fortunate to have found you. ❤

Another fascinating broadcast! I have no criticism of what you are doing River but having been indoctrinated as a child into my Gran’s philosophy, you are what you eat and every thing in moderation, I’ve got through more years than I like to admit remaining slim and on the whole, healthy. Happy to say, no farting either unless too many Brussel sprouts appear on my plate! I totally agree with what you say about fat in our diet because all the low fat products we are faced with today are just processed junk. Our bodies need fat!. I will be following your journey and wishing you the best of health but goodness, must we now refer to you as “old cow” rather than “old fruit”? ❤

River I really do hope this diet helps you! My husband and I have been doing carnivore for almost 4 months. We all have a different opinion of food enjoyment so I totally understand your lack of excitement about the diet at this point. I have had an easier time with the restriction than my husband, who is Mediterranean and has found himself gravitating more to a ketogenic diet. I however grew up on a more limited diet due to financial reasons. We have both lost weight, about 20kg each at this point (just over 3 stones) and the emotional boost has been nice but we are still waiting for the boost of vitality and energy to occur. We are both more calm, happier and more mentally clear so I really do hope that doing carnivore helps improve your body to some degree. I don’t know wether it is a ‘cure all’ situation but am happy to report we have seen general improvements in various areas of our life…good luck and well done so far! 👏

I lost 35 pounds last year doing carnivore. It’s not for everyone, but it is worth a try to meet a goal. I’ve taken a break with the holidays and the digestive organs were not happy, lol. I’d like to go back to reach my ultimate goal, and from there do more of ketovore from now on as a lifestyle. There are health benefits but some cons as well. I could go on, but everyone is different. Although I must say, my heartburn has much improved, and my gentleman friends who decided to give it a try have lost a ton of weight, and one has staved off meds for Type 2 diabetes. Without ozempic, lol

Wonderful! I enjoy your content…no matter the top. 😊 My bf and I started a carnivore lifestyle this past Oct 2023 and we haven’t looked back. No prep, just jumped right in. We no longer have body aches, inflammation, brain fog, and have energy to spare. My bf lost 50 lb and still going strong. I have autoimmune disease(s) and chronic gerd and I must say I feel much better. I lost 20 lb, but that was just a perk. For so many it isn’t the losing weight, it’s the waking up in the morning and not hurting anymore that feels amazing. Brain fog lifts, increased energy, etc… The way we were eating was slowing killing us and robbing us from enjoying life! Cheers to you! 👏 I’m all for doing what helps you live a longer, healthier, and happier life. I wish you a very Happy and Healthy 2024! 😊

Kudos to you, River! I love how you share things and let people know this is just something you're trying, and you're not pushing it on someone else.
I started doing a keto diet a couple years ago that was recommended by my physician. At the time, I was in my early fifties and had to have a hip replacement and a knee replacement within a year of each other due to deteriorated joints. I started the diet to see if it would help reduce the inflammation in my joints, and the weight loss was a side benefit. I lost close to 100 lb. It was weight that I needed to lose. It is an Elimination Diet. I even headed towards Carnivore to discover the things that bothered my joints. That really is the best elimination diet. I do love sugar and carbohydrates, and it is challenging not to have the things that I know will bother my joints. But I always end up paying the price when I cheat and have the things that I know are going to set me off. This includes natural flavorings and artificial sweeteners. However, like any eating lifestyle, I am not a one-size-fits-all. If vegan works for somebody and they're healthy, that way God bless them. I love all sorts of vegetables and grains, but I can not eat most of them because it sets my joints on fire.
I also got into intermittent fasting and followed several reputable doctors recommendations. I ended up finding a pattern that works for me and usually eat one large meal later in the day or two medium-sized meals that way I get in a fast without feeling deprived.😂
Alrighty I'm going to end this before it turns into a novel. Good luck to you, my friend, and I hope you receive many benefits from it.❤

We're all different and what suits one person may not suit someone else. Just cutting out junk food is enough to make one feel good and if you need to lose weight it would drop off too if you make it your lifestyle. That's what I did years ago and lost 7lbs in the first week. I continued to lose weight until I reached a plateau, my ideal weight, which I've stayed at for the following 50+ years.

A possiblity to consider, River...there is something called an acute phase in healing which is a reverse of how one started in an acute phase into chronic whatever the condition is for an individual. I've been reminded of the carnivore diet listening to you. I tried it many years ago and lasted 4 months before gradually adding certain veggies back in because the strict eating of meat sent me into a spiral of depression. Interesting since I'd not experienced depression before...well, that gradually became almost all veggies and little meat.
Due to several chronic health conditions and old age, I'm feeling inspired to gradually switch back to the carnivore diet again. I do recall having more energy and some issues getting better enough to believe in it. Weight isn't really an issue, although I've gained 13 lbs in the past 4 years... thrilled my doctor since I've been on the lean to skinny side my whole life.
Thank you for sharing! I agree with everyone saying this broadcast has been a delightful change from the MM/H news! Now those two are really what's boring while this was delightful, inspiring, interesting, and delivered with what I like to call River wit and character! 💜
