I had a dealer sell me the wrong file size so Ive been filing both my bigger saws with the same file and it gets it fairly sharp but always lost an edge pretty quick. Now I have the right file for my 462 (13/64 file size) and what a difference!

Yea that smaller file will create more hook, it will cut fast, just dull quicker. That’s good, Having the correct edge side does eh!

Great video. I was always led to believe the teeth had to be close to the same length

Thank you! As long has you keep your rakers in check, just file till the tooth is sharp

I was always curious if that made a difference or not. A while ago I was cutting circles because I wasn’t getting my left handed side as sharp. I adjusted my technic and got to cutting straight again but the teeth where way uneven on one side verse the other on that old chain. But it was so stretched out I couldn’t tighten it up anymore so I used it for a stump and that was the end of that chain lol

That’ll definitely cause it! And That’s what we save our end of life chains for too lol!

I have said this for years. Nothing cuts better then old wore out chain. If sharpened properly. I use a racker gage myself don’t know why people don’t it so easy and better for your saw. Keep up the good work.

@@earthandbloom I use a .30 one I really like it got it from bailey’s that and wore out chain stays out the dirt and rocks better.

I've never had stuff packed so hard in the bar groove that the drive links wouldn't clean it out and let it ride flush🗿

Awesome video that has proven to me im a saw junkie 😮
I live for perfect sharpening and raker heights. Uneven teeth work perfectly good as long as its sharp and rakers adjusted . So far so good in my experience 👍👍
Excellent video Reuben with some great sharpening skills !! The warm weather is finally upon us eh ? I'm loving it 😊

Pretty sure if you happen to take a different ie pointier angle on one side it will want to curve in bar width wood. If I’m not careful my angle on the right side gets pointier. But that’s the fun challenge of sharpening by hand. I’m far from good but it is fun trying to get good especially if your weekend warrior.

I believe it would to….I better try that out 😆
And sharping by hand is an art form that’s for sure, there are so many different ways that can lead to the same good results.

Any time my processor bar cuts crooked, it's the uneven rails on the bar more than the chain, not.being perfect..

I’d say 9 times outa ten it’s the bar!
