So sorry about your loss!! I have this exact aquarium actually and have had it running for 3 years! I love love love this tank!! Clowns have done awesome in it. I’ve had a yellowtail damsel who minded himself nicely and an orchid dottyback who was also a model citizen. A couple snails, and a couple crabs and a conch. I kept the original hood and light. It’s been good for the three years, the fluval heater and a small sicce power head
For my AI these are my setting to mimic t5’s: 111% UV 111% Violet 117% Royal 140% Blue 9% green 8% red 24% white It mimics T5’s really well to my eyes and I couldn’t be any happier 😁 hope that helps some!
I’ve just noticed this is another peninsula tank with a viewing panel up against the wall lol Is this a reef dork signature tank placement? Sorry to hear about the grammas, I think they are the GOAT of smaller reef tanks
Love my AI Primes. You definitely need to play with it to get it how you want it. I downloaded the David Saxby programme and stripped most of the Cool White out for 3 hours before ramp down. Looks great 👍🏻 Good luck with the clowns.
is a Royal Gramma a good first fish to start with? I've been advised to get a damsel to my sump for the first 2 weeks then just take it back and get a fish i want, is that overkill/ a bit too much faff?
Clownfish are better bets for a first fish - I don't think I'd do the damsel in a sump cos it feels like treating a fish as a tool, but it's probably not a terrible idea apart from that. I tried 2 RGs in the Evo, both died. The clowns were fine from day 1 and are still going strong.
@@ReefDorkXtra I'd agree, i think the only reason it was suggested was because the clowns i wanted to start with are Black Storms and it was to avoid any heart break/financial loss incase they died for some reason! Thanks for getting back to me, hope you had a nice Christmas!
What kind of flow are you getting in the tank? I see you have a wavemaker-what flow is that producing? I am running mine with a Sicce 0.5 for the return pump. I also have a wavemaker but I’m worried it’s too much flow.
Yeah I considered that but decided I could make the Prime into the Sol by turning off some of the LEDs. Saw it in the flesh though - blues look fantastic 👍
Have you ever properly checked your water parameters? Rather than buy fish and die, I would suggest buying test kits and make sure the cycle is done. I always go with, I’m looking after the water not the coral and fish.
Great video as always Alex! If you have the time! I’ve just started my own TH-cam channel. Any critique you have would be appreciated! Hat off to you, YouTubing is an art form in itself!

I love Nano tanks! Mine will arrive soon! I get a fragbox reef Casa! 🥰🐶
The lps signature setting makes corals pop like nothing else.
That room looks like it could do with the “iconic” wallpaper ;)
I started my 5g 2 months ago and am loving it. Very similar hardware. I'll be keeping up with your build. Looks good so far!
Good video 🙌🏽
I love my evo 13.5 I had it about 4 years and still going strong!!
For my AI these are my setting to mimic t5’s:
111% UV
111% Violet
117% Royal
140% Blue
9% green
8% red
24% white

This is interesting, more like what an average beginner might experience when starting a tank...
Good Go!
Love the look of the tank. Looking forward to seeing the working progress.

Great little tank. Started mine up about the same time as you I guess. Love the channel.

Good luck with the clowns.
i never found those alert tags useful. i use the api liquid test alot easier and reliable.
looks great I only have two clown with their anemone in my fluval didn't had any problems so far added the anemone 3 week got hosted 4th week.
Nice video Alex, always good to hear about a new tank and the cycling process. Looking forward to the next update?
Cool video Alex, a mandarin would look cool in there
That diatom along the side might be dinoflagellates. Dinos killed my royal gramma!
About time !! More dork reefs and less chatting !! ;)
Love it! But the left hand rock is too close to the glass for me!
Yeah, there's a bit I need to break off!
The loss of the RG’s may have been from the pistol shrimp. Mine would take out any fish that got close to his burrow.
Is there any more updates with this tank mate?
Yep, should be uploading in the next few weeks

Pretty gentle flow - it's a 4,000 lph pump running at 100%. I'm likely to add a 2nd at some point in the future...
What heater do you use on this Alex? Wondering what you chose as I’m looking to set one up soon with inspo thank you you!
Just a generic 100w heater from my lfs. It's very nearly too tall so make sure you don't get one too long!
Thank you! Will bear that in mind with mine
I got a question i jst got me a orange ricordea mushroom coral n i wanted to kno should i keep tha lights on at night or can i turn them off
Only on for 12 hours during the day
@@ReefDorkXtra thank you now i can get some sleep
I was going to buy a jecod slw-10 but isn't it to much flow??
For this tank? Absolutely no - I might add a 2nd...
@@ReefDorkXtra I put it in and like a tsunami I take it gets turned right down the flow
Ye it's for fluval evo 52litre
Those alerts don’t work for me
I have the ai prime sol....works great

Royal gramma is hardy it can cycle a tank so it didn’t die due to the ammonia.
Yes!!!! I'm 200!!!
So cool to see that saltwater is actually possible for ‘normal’ people. How is this tank doing? Do you still have it?
Yep, here's the latest update th-cam.com/video/8_3G7WAgxTw/w-d-xo.html
why don't you try scrapping the honeycomb trimming at the top of the tank off, it will give it a cleaner look, a razor will work
I like the look of it
What’s happening with the tank these days?
One year update coming on the main channel this Friday!
No way..u dont like the light..do u have a closet full gear or what..jaha
Just get one clown, they are much nicer as a solo
Dont feed very often the less you feed the better you will have outbreaks
