      They should follow these rules in WKF, general public won't like WFK, it won't last in Olympics

    • @shuanglingliew1338
      @shuanglingliew1338 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      LionMan My thoughts exactly. No offence but WKF kumite looks more like a dance than sparring, with all the rapid jumping and shouting, but they are in my opinion "less" brutal than other styles of karate in terms of kumite so eventhough I am not pleased to see WKF representing the entire karate community but when it comes to Olympics they may be a better fit (the Olympics prefer a more "public-friendly" style of martial arts, just look at what they did to taekwando)

      I dont really know much about the kumites rule differences or anything. Whats different between this and wkf kumite ?

      @shuanglingliew1338 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I have seen wkf karate jumps more rapidly which looks more like a dance (no offence) and most of the time they just stare at each other while jumping

    I'm seeing more Brazilian jujutsu moves being incorporated. 10:36 Japanese fighter goes into a guard as he hits the ground 0:36 He goes into side control. I'm sensing these guys are cross training more and more

      it's one of the thing I like about kumite, even when you get on the ground, if you somehow protect yourself not being hit, your rival wouldn't get the point. unlike some other type of martial arts, you need only get your opponent down and you get the point, no matter the situation after that.

      Gichi Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan, was a good friend of Kano sensei, the founder of Judo, which BJJ originated from. A lot of these Karatekas also have Judo experience in one form or another.
      As a matter of fact, you'd be amazed how much Judo is applied in their fighting. You can check some footage of Mikio Yahara sensei, he used the throw called Tomoe Nage from time to time.
      I also remember a sparring footage from Tanaka sensei where he showed amazing awareness of defensive ground fighting, constantly blocking his sparring partner's arms to avoid a rear naked choke when that guy got his back. He later turned around and used the other guy's collar to secure a choke

    Me encanta que podes poner la velocidad a 0.25 en los videos de TH-cam y ver la COMPLETA MENTIRA que son la mayoría de los arbitrajes en este tipo de Karate. No solamente en este torneo sino en general, se cobran todo tipo de golpes fuera de distancia, sin fuerza y a cualquier parte. Muchas veces se cobra mas mancha que un golpe.

    The only difference is that there is less jumping and no protection at the legs and feet so Karate in the olympics is going to be fine( btw the reason they yell after they hit the opponent is so that it counts as a point).

    No Dodging, No Defense, only attack and attack. Just forget the defiance technic, the dodging technic or the defense technic you ever learn at Dojo, because in the tournament, only the fastest wins. That's Kumite of Karate, guys!

    These non-contact point matches are useful and interesting, but I would really like to see JKA Karate tournaments taken to the next level-something closer to full contact UFC MMA style matches. At the very least, it would be interesting to see how Karate evolves in response to it.

    • @renatao6330
      @renatao6330 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think that would be possible, UFC is pro fighting, there's lots of money involved, if the fighters get injuried, there's big medical assistence.
