A few of months back I put a couple of Jurassic Park decals on my JL and was subsequently surprised by how many JP fans there are out there. You must get a LOT of attention in that beautiful jeep!
You went like level 9 out of 10... we ended up around a 2.5 on our build. Looks GREAT, Matt. Get some crowd reactions and make a compilation. It's the type of vehicle that makes people really smile.
Now, that is the best fan-made replica I had ever seen in my life. If I were fortunate to come across a 1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara YJ in good condition that someone wanted to sell at a fair reasonable price, I would definitely buy it, take it off of their hands and convert it into my very own film-accurate replica of the Jurassic Park jeep down to the last detail and replace the old radio with a CD player to play the Jurassic Park soundtrack and I would drive it to a Halloween costume party dressed up as a dinosaur handler and enter it in a car show.
Thank you! and Absolutely I get so many comments and people wanting to take pictures with it. It's wonderful to see the smiles... and I have BIG plans for Halloween! haha
@@SimplyMustGo You're welcome! I think the searchlights are a nice touch and are essential since the jeep that Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) drove of the Jurassic Park film had the searchlights. Plus, I would've went along with number 12 for my Jurassic Park jeep replica.
Since we’re in the topic of YJs, I just picked myself up a 1993 Jeep YJ. 4cylinder, 5 speed, manual. It’s so clean, and I’m really thinking about turning her (Dixie) slowly into a Jurassic Park YJ. If you have any tips on we’re I can search up we’re to buy some of the Jurassic parts the Jeep, that would be a big help. More towards the interior side of things.
Interior is hard. You’ll have to search Facebook market place, eBay and Craigslist pretty hard. Also make contacts with junk yards and towing companies. If they haul one in from a wreck you might be able to get the interior that way.
@@SimplyMustGo YESSSS!!! Thank you man!!! You’re going to have to get your son a Jeep Wrangler soon! That would be awesome seeing two Jeep’s in the garage together! That would make a great video too.
Awesome dinner time vlog!!!! Love seeing the excitement. I can remember where I was the weekend you took it to PA lol. So happy for you! Keep up the great content!!
very nicely done. this guy did great work for ya. I always wanted the explorer but due to all the custom bits for the movie I feel like the jeep would be the cheaper way to go.
Never even thought about the workaround for the tires. What tires did you end up going with instead of the actual BFGoodrich? Because especially with the lettering, they look so close to the classic KO1s compared to KO2s and 3s coming soon.
A lot was done beyond the paint job and it was all sort of rolled into it together. Over all I think I spent about 7K on the transformation not including the price of the Jeep itself.
Hello there!!! I really loved jack's work on your jp since i was a kid I was also a huge fan of jp jeeps so I finally got mine and I would love some aid to get started however I'm un mexico Does anyone know someone here who can do that ?
You’d have to get a quote from them. It’s all custom based on what you want, the condition of the Jeep and what materials / items you have vs, what they would need to find / provide.
Although you repainted the vehicle, as far as the title and the other "paperwork" are concerned, the color remained the same, correct? In addition, was anything done to the engine, or did you leave it primarily alone, besides an oil change or something to that nature?
Yeah. I had the title before I painted it and nothing has changed about that. I did replace the engine shortly after I got it, I have a whole video on that. I’ve done a bunch of other random things, like new radio and wiring and stuff like that over time as well.
The customs place must've went under or lost the rights to that website name!?!? The site doesn't exist anymore it would seem? Might need to update the link!? Love the Jeep!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
@@SimplyMustGo Well, I hope he's doing well & hopefully still doing what he did for your Jeep!? But, if not I've got hands & JPMotorPool to help of course.
Yeah. Search Facebook marketplace, they pop up from time to time. Also join the motor pool workshop. A lot of those guys find them and share with the group. I found another set recently. But I didn’t need them, but I’ll see if I can find them again.
Approximate cost if you don't mind? Sues beautiful and I know her rehabilitation was worth it. I just bought my friend's 95 Jeep YJ Rio Grande and trying to decide what i want to do to it. Its that aqua turquoise type blue. Keep it relatively original or go outside the box?
It really is going to depend on what all needs to be done, what parts you need and if anything mechanic needs to be done. Will also depend on if you do the JP18 lightbar and lights. Mine was around $10K-$12K including the Jeep
@SimplyMustGo thanks for replying back and so quickly at that. So many ideas going thru the Grey matter. I. So glad I've stumbled upon your channel. What are your thoughts of engine upgrades?
It’s hard to say. Because it all depends on your Jeep how accurate you want to go and if you already have a Sahara model or if you’ll need to track down seats and the wheels. Then there is the extras like the winch and if you want to do the light bar lights etc. just paint you could do yourself or it might cost you $4-6k lots of recourse on jpmotorpool.com
Probably a silly question… But do you know what toolboxes were used on the original Jurassic park jeep? I’m talking about the scene with Jeff Goldblum being chased by the t-Rex… Greatest movie moment ever says I 😁
It’s hard to say. You’d have to reach out to him. A lot depends on what if any extra work the Jeep might need what parts you might want to get through him vs source yourself and if you’re doing the light bar or not.
Hmm that Jeep in the picture at Universal Studios looks kind of weird. First, the 2 on the 12 is rounded, and the tires don't have the correct lettering on them.
Yeah wrong tires for sure. After the movie they apparently put good years back on them. The original letters were actually magnets they could swap between vehicle during production so I’m guessing whoever did the restoration/ paint for putting it on display didn’t pay a huge about of attention to some of the details like that when getting it ready.
It’s really going to depend. My build was a little bit more involved since we did an engine replacement also. If you get a clean YJ as a starting point I would budget between 8-10K for the whole build. Maybe less if you can start with a clean Sahara. I had to get the correct seats and wheels for the Sahara model and that was an added expense.
