My cousin and I played the demo for Madden 11 on the Xbox 360. The only two teams they had were the Colts (with Manning) and the Jets. I always got stuck with the Jets. We played that demo so many times and I naturally got used to seeing the names BART Scott, Shaun Ellis, Shaun Greene, Sanchez, Jericho Cotchery, etc etc...Then I started watching games and it all just fell into place. The Jets pretty much taught me football and now I’m addicted to EVERYTHING FOOTBALL! Green and White till I die.
I became a Jets fan in 2009. Im from LA and we didnt have an NFL team so our team was USC. and I was a huge Mark Sanchez fan so when he went to the Jets I became a fan of the Jets. Plus Sanchez's first two years were so good, especially that second year with LT. My first Jets game i went to was in Dec 2015 against the Patriots at Metlife and SOMEHOW we beat them. I will never forget that day. Go Jets!
When I was 13 my uncle who made a New York sports game room when I walked in that game room I saw amazing historical sports items and posters at that moment I became a sports fan and i picked my teams that my uncle loved! I loved the green and white also the Yankees.
How I became a Giants fan: I was 7 in 1990 and that season and Lawrence Taylor pretty much sealed it for me. Besides as a 7 year old I liked blue better than green, lol. Scott Norwood's missed kick in the Super Bowl put me over the top. It's funny bc I was 100% sure he was going to miss. LT had a restaurant called "LT's" that was just down the street from my house and I met him and many of the players from the 1990 season. My Dad still has his 1990 Super Bowl shirt with the the final score and all the autographs. How I became a Duke fan: In 1990 I was in 3rd grade. My teacher told the class if Duke wins the National Championship we would not have homework for an entire week. In third grade this was a big deal. Duke won, the entire class became Duke fans! Christian Laettner's shot to beat Kentucky in the elite 8 was the moment I became a fan. I still remember thinking Duke would score right before Grant Hill inbounded the ball. I was too young to realize the chances of scoring were incredibly low. Somehow I ended up being right. Then in 4th grade my teacher (a new teacher) said the same thing, if Duke wins the National Championship again we would not have homework for an entire week. They won again. I've been a Duke fan ever since. How I became a Yankee fan: I was a Braves fan as a kid, my dad was a Yankee fan and I just felt like picking a different team to mess with him. But then in 1995 a friend of mine (also a Braves fan even though we both live in NJ) took us to a Yankee game. Darryl Strawberry hit a ball further than I had ever seen up until that point. The instant his bat hit the ball we both became Yankees fans. I remember thinking, holy shit I never realized how close Yankee stadium was to my house (about 1 hour). How could I not be a fan of this team? Then immediately after that the Yankees went on their crazy run. How I became a Georgia fan: This one is weird. I loved college football but never had a favorite team. So I decided to pick one using a "formula" I had been working on. What was the best college football team that has a good fan base, recruits well and hasn't won a championship in my lifetime? Answer: Georgia. When I saw that Georgia ranks 4th almost every year in college football players produced but only has 2 D1 schools in state I figured that had to be a huge advantage over all the other teams. I've never heard anybody else mention this ever but I'm convinced it gives Georgia a massive advantage recruiting. Texas, Cal and Florida all produce more college football players than the state of Georgia but they also have about 10 D1 schools in each state. My college roommate who had been a Quarterback at Univ of Maine was also from Georgia so it made perfect sense. I probably should have picked Clemson or even Alabama considering neither were the powerhouse they are today when I picked Georgia back in about 2000 but that's ok. Duke and the Yankees are good enough. I already look like enough of a front runner... #thereisnochanceanybodywilleverreadthis
It is kinda silly. I picked the Jets because my dad always told me that my grandpa worked on real life ones and so as a kid I said that I wanted to route for the Jets. After he passed, it became more meaningful to me to route for them as i grew older. That is why I became a Jets fan
I live in the Czech Republic, but I was living in Queens NY 1997-2001. As a European had no interest in football, used to deliver furniture for furniture store on Long Islang and one of the customers I deliverd to one day was no one else but Keyshon Johnson. So I watched the first game just to see him on TV. I am a Jet fan since than. But I have no one to discuse the games or roster, really no one to talk to about football or Jets. So I want to thank you for your recap videos because you are the only one I can talk with about the Jets, regardless of fact that you do all the talking. Thanx and GO JETS
I grew up in Georgia as a Chiefs fan (My Dad being a Chief as well as my family). About a decade ago I moved from there to the KC area. Cool to hear interesting stories as to what team people choice!
I'M BORN & RAISED IN MIAMI, FL [OVERTOWN] AND MY RECEIVER WAS AT HOFSTRA. WHERE HE WENT THAT WAS GO BE MY TEAM. UNFORTUNATELY HE DIDN'T GET DRAFTED AND HE ENDED UP A JET SO I'M A JET 4 LIFE
Hey man. I was born and raised near Philadelphia and I'm a Dolphins fan. Do I still like the Eagles? Yes, but I love the Dolphins too. Dolphins are my favorite animals and I also loved the Dan Marino ages. I want to go to College in Miami. Probably won't, but I want to. The NY Jets are cool too. You love your Jets and I love my Dolphins!
Imma keep this simple. I live in Connecticut. It’s either Red Sox or Yankees..... I chose Mets. Either Bruins or Rangers..... I chose Islanders. Either Patriots or Giants..... I chose Jets. I seek to be different than everyone else, I like being known as “the Jets fan” and not “just another Patriots fan”.
I became a fan when we got neil O'Donnell right after moving to NY in 96..i was a senior in highschool and worked at a supermarket.. I found myself stocking shelves at work and listening to jets games on my walkman.. The rest is history.. I'm forever a jets fan now... I watched them a the way from Japan in the marines when testaverde got hurt and ray Lucas was starting .that was supposed to be our year after being up 10-0 in the AFC championship in Denver the previous yr.. Man we had some great corners back then we have never been able to match since other than revis.. Aaron glenn and Marcus Coleman were amazing.. Jets will rise again..
JetsCentral I never understood how we put him and Coleman on the expansion list ..i remember the Texans taking them both.. Loved those jets team.. Another great moment was when Vinny was finally benched and Pennington got him shot and started out with a bang.. Those were the cardiac jets.. For 4 years straight we started 1-4 and somehow made the playoffs each year.. Good times.. 8
@derek morton antonio cromartie is Marcus coleman reincarnated ..great most times but questionable here and there..glenn was amazing..we had a corner named Henderson too that would he a starter on most teams but with us he was just a backup..remember ray mickens was our nickel and i would argue he was one of the best nickelbacks of all time..ill never understand this but , but we allowed the Texans the new expansion team to draft both glenn and coleman
Jumped on the bandwagon in '03 after the Jets destroyed the Colts 41-0 in the playoffs, been loyal ever since. Favorite moment is beating the Pats in the playoffs and how NO ONE gave us a chance!
My father bought season tickets in 1960 when they were the Titans. I started going to games in 1976 when I was 10. We sold our seats in 1983 when they moved to New Jersey. So I have bled green and white for a long time and always will.
JC I'M FROM MIAMI, FL. IN 93 (SIX YEARS OLD) I HEARD THE WORD BANDWAGON ALOT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANT 🤷🏿♂️ THEN I FIGURED IT OUT SO I LIKE THIS KID OUT OF HOFSTRA AND I SAID WHATEVER TEAM HE GOES TO WILL BE MY TEAM AND YOU KNOW THE REST 💯
I’m from NYC. So it’s Yankees and the jets for me along with the nets. It’s just amazing that u are from the south and you connect to so many jet fans worldwide. Keep the going going bro💪🏾
Thanks for sharing. What's better than father/son bonding time at a young age, sprinkled with a life lesson about perseverance? The undenial truth that sports brings people together in a magical way.
I became a Jets fan in 2007 my Dad is the reason he used to watch football and then I started getting into it we have good memories of some playoff games it’s a special father and son thing that I’ll never forget
This is a great video - and it really explains your passion for the Jets! I am a Bills fan and I truly believe that your team sort of finds you whether through family or circumstance and you are just all in.
Been watching your videos for the past 4 months but happen to catch this one on my feed, Soon to be 62 year old Jets fan. Growing up Dad, Grandpa and Uncle were all Giants fans. I caught Joe Namath at the end of his career and liked him along with the cool Jets uniforms. Wanted to be different from all of my friends and started rooting for the Jets. Most of my friends were and still are Giants fans. I attend one game every year and it is when they play the Dolphins in Miami. Love escaping the cold weather and have been doing this for the past 13 years. Love how many Jet fans from the New York area have the same idea and come down for the game. Really look forward to this event every year. Good coverage on the 2020 draft, Thanks,
From Queens New York , My dad was a die hard jet fan and became a fan during the Richard Todd era , I grew up in the 2000s and Chad Pennington was and always will be my favorite NFL player of all time , I loved watching him and Lavernues Coles tear defences apart , those jets were and are very special to me so until the day I die il always be a jet fan
Hello JETSCENTRAL. I have been a New York Jets fan since the late summer of 1967. That year I became interested in football. I was ten years old. My father and his friends were New York Giants fans ,but could not get tickets to see them so when the Jets moved into Shea Stadium in our county of Queens , they went to the Jets games. My favorite color is blue so I was going to be a Giants fan. Late that summer, my father told me about another league called "The American Football League". The local candy stores did not sell the A.F.L. cards , so I became interested. When my father told me the names of those teams I became hooked, and decided that The New York Jets were going to be my team. I saw them play for the first time against the Philadelphia Eagles in an exhibition game on TV. The game erupted in a bench clearing free for all in the first half. My father told me of the nasty rivalry between the A.F.L. and the N.F.L. The boys that I played football with did not like the New York Jets or the A.F.L. They loved THE GIANTS, GREEN BAY PACKERS, CLEVELAND BROWNS and THE BALTIMORE COLTS. GAYLE SAYERS and BOB HAYES were very popular also. I sufferred from insults for over a year because of my love of The Jets and the A.F.L. But somewhere midway through the 3rd quarter of the 1968 Heidi game, I had a strong feeling that the Jets and Raiders were the TWO BEST TEAMS in pro football. This was confirmed by the Jets 16-7 SUPER BOWL WIN. One of my life's happiest moments ! I needed a new challenge, so The Miami Dolphins became my second favorite team !! The Dolphins 1969 20-20 tie against the awesome RAIDERS was a strong sign that great things were coming !!!!
I'm currently 15 years old, I've been a Jets fan since I was about 4 years old but back then I didn't pay attention as much but I would root for them just cause my Mom and Dad rooted for them but the 09-10 is really the seasons that made me love the game of football. So that's my little story lol
I know this is years after your comment but I was young at that time as well. I’m 16 now. I was in Kindergarten in 09-10 but I was a fan at that time because of my Dad. I just feel lucky enough to remember that since nothing good has happened since
My dad is a die hard Steelers fan. Always promoted them to me but I never bought in. Loved the jets colors, their underdog mentality and their unwillingness to quit. Curtis Martin was an absolute stud and my favorite player growing up. Theyve never attempted to tank a season, they never quit, never give in and don't care about criticism. Lastly, the fans are incredible. Humble, realistic, and stick together. Great organization bound for greatness.
I became a fan when I was in 6th grade. A few Jets players came to my school and talked to us. I became a real Jets fan in 2008. I live in East Hanover, which is the town right next to Florham Park. They were advertising “Jets Day” at the park so I went and I met so many players and they were so amazing. I started watching them after that and I fell in love. I also met Geno Smith when I worked at Enterprise. I had to drive him back to the Jets campus lol.
So it started in kindergarten. The NFL playoffs were taking place and the Jets were the talk of the class. From the win in Indianapolis to New England, I loved the playing style of the Jets. On Championship Sunday, I watch Ed the Jets play. Even though they lost, I admired the Jets. I was usally the only Jets fan while everyone liked the Giants or the Patriots or even Seattle. During the 2015 season, I was like a hero in the hallways but that ended before the playoffs.
I became a Jets fan because of way back in the early 70s when my dad was growing up, my grandfather worked in new York City and the company he worked for gave him lots of jets tickets, so my dad became a huge fan, and passed it on to me.
Growing up I never was interested in sports at all, I was more of a video games kind of guy. So once I got into HS, my brother wanted to join the football team, and me being the younger brother wanted to follow in his footsteps. So I joined the team and started to learn about the game of football because at this time I had no idea how to play football, the rules, etc. So once I understood the game, when I watched football on TV, I understood it really well and enjoyed watching it even more than I did enjoy playing it because i really wasn’t very good. So I started watching football pretty regularly. The year I became a huge fan of NFL football was the year after the Seahawks beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl. So the following season me and my friends were so hyped about football we decided to start a fantasy football league. So when choosing my team, I still really didn’t know all the players in great detail, I only knew the superstars, so as my TE I choose Antonio Gates! So the way I became a fan was, I was watching gates just as a player on my fantasy team play against the vaunted Seahawks defense at home in San Diego. I wasn’t a fan of the Chargers at the time yet, I was just watching to see how Gates was going to do. And obviously the Seahawks were the favorite just because they just had won the Super Bowl. Gates scored 3 touchdowns and the Chargers won that game. Ever since watching that game. I chose the Chargers and now I’m a die hard Chargers fan.
I became a Jets fan mostly through my father. He too grew up a Jets fan along with my late Uncle Kevin. My late grandfather was a Giants fan and my Uncle Brain is a San Francisco 49ers fan. When I a little kid growing up, I had quite a few Jets related merchandise in my room like a mouse pad and a small kick ball. Through that merchandise I thought the Jets were a pretty cool team. However, I didn't start following the Jets until 2008 when Brett Favre became the quarterback. Throughout that year, I knew what it was like being a Jets fan. Despite the rough times that season, I stayed loyal because I felt that one day things would turn around. My fondest memories of being a Jets fan are the comeback victory against the Bills in Week 15 back in '08, the manhandling of the Tennessee Titans in week 12 back in '08, the defeat of the Patriots in week 2 back in '09, and the defeat of the Patriots in the 2010-2011 AFC Divisional Round.
Thanks for sharing such a personal story, JC. It sure was great! As for me, I picked the Jets as my team to cheer for in the early 2000s. I moved to the DC area in 1999 from El Salvador and the 8-year-old me at the time was fascinated by this new sport that I had just discovered. I went in the direction of the Jets because I wanted to stick out from all the Redskins fans I grew up with in elementary/middle school. I certainly didn't wanna follow the other bandwagon teams at the time like the Pats, Colts, Steelers, Chargers because just like u, I was attracted the underdog role the Jets displayed. Also when we drafted Sanchez in 2009, I felt closer to the team especially because I thought it was really cool to have a fellow Hispanic on the team - little lone the QB position.
I’ve became a fan ever since that 1998 afc championship game against the Broncos in the living room watching that game with my pops despite him being a NY Giants fan lol. Vinny Testaverde, Keyshawn Johnson, Curtis Martin, Coach Bill Parcell that Jets team was exciting and of course the rest is history. My pops and Grandfather was a Giants fan ironically and my Uncle and older brother fell in love with the Jets. Another reason also is I’m always big on underdogs. It’s just more exciting and unpredictable when you see a underdog grind and claw to the top, very relatable to my life and how the Jets in certain games reminds me of that Underdog feel. But yeah that’s my story on how I became a Jets fan…
I'm from NY and I come from a family of Giants fan (my older brother and father) and on Halloween for my 4th birthday I wanted to be a football player, so my Dad told my mom go to the store and pick him up a Giants toy helmet. My mom comes back and says "All the Giants helmets were gone, but I got him a Jets one instead." And since that day I've been a die-hard Jets fan..from Vinny Testaverde, Curtis Martin, Wayne Cherbet, Santana Moss, Laveranues Coles, to my boy Chad Pennington, Brooks Bollinger, Mark Sanchez, Chris Simms, hell I've even met fireman Ed.. I've been here for them all and I'll be here for the rest.. Let's go Jets!
Mine was when I was around 13 I was channel surfing and I happened to stop on the NFL Network it's was Jets vs Patriots with Farve and Cassell since then I've been a fan for life
I became a jets fan in a very similar way you did. Dad was from New Jersey and was a die hard Jets fan. I'm 21 and have spent most of my life in Georgia so i am surrounded by falcons fans (and a whole lot of college fans) and the only true jets fans in the area i know are my dad, my brother, and me. My favorite game as a Jets fan was the divisional game against the pats... can't wait! Another great memory was in 2010 when the Jets played the Browns and if i recall correctly it was 3th down in OT and we needed the 1st and Jerricho Cothery looked like he pulled his groin running his route but still laid out for an amazing catch to get the first. Sorry for the long comment but i hope you get to read it and keep up the great work! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!
1986 or 87 the first game I ever watched was jets Seahawks and the jets smashed them. Been a fan ever since. In the uk we only got highlights and the live Monday night game but it was on about 1am and my dad let me stay up and watch it with him. I must have been about 8. Didn’t have the internet back then to check score and I’d have to watch the highlights on channel 4 the following sat morning.
I live in NY and I remember watching the Giants and Jets when I first started watching football when I was younger, and I just loved how the Jets played and I loved how they were always doubted and were the underdog, so I started rooting for them and I’ve been a fan ever since.
I love the reason you became a Jets fan. I’m from NY and was a season tix holder for 26 years - even for 6 years after moving to Madison WI. I was at the Monday Night Miracle game and stayed even after most people left. Was also there for Dennis Byrd’s injury, Gastineau’s record year and the Sack Exchange years, etc. Stay loyal to the Jets. They’ll be great again some time.
I became a Jets fan the same way. A lot of great memories watching them with my dad and grandpa (RIP). Personally I also love underdogs which is why I have stuck with them. I live in NY and most people are Giants fans around here. I get plenty of crap up here from Giants fans lol.
My dad is an Eagles fan and I’m from the Philadelphia area. I loved mcnabb back in the day. Seeing super bowl 52 was one of the greatest moments of my life. I love underdogs too
Been a fan since 2015. My earliest me worry of jets was a teacher saying “Oh I need to get myself a Mark Sanchez jersey” randomly outside during a fire drill when I was in elementary. The earliest game I remember was 2014 geno? Throwing a pick 6 against the Vikings on te goal line and I was never a sports fan. Anyways watching Ryan Fitzmagic carry the Jets was amazing, Brandon Marshall killing it was the best. Favorite games were beating NE in OT 2015, giants OT and cowboys 2019
Ok ! Monday night if I'm not mistaken the jets was 5 and 1 or something like that!!! Not a big underdog!!!! Nevertheless love your " how I became a jet fan " recollection . I proudly watched that game to end !!! The next day in the job most of my jets friends thought the jets was embarrassed!!! They turned the TV off in the third quarter!!!
I'm mexican so I got interested in the Jets because it was kind of big here that Sanchez was their QB. But what really made me a Jets fan was seeing Greene charge even without his helmet, I thought that was pretty cool. Then it also helped what you said about being different (here in México almost everyone is either a Cowboys fan or a Steelers fan) and, of course, the Jets-Patriots game with the big win.
I live in Arizona but I am a jets fan because my dad was a giants fan and I wanted another team that was New York and my grandma was a huge buffalo bills fan so I became a jets fan and stuck with um
I’ve always loved football but I became a Jets fan when Hugh Douglas and another player (forgot his name) came to my Middle school and gave out calendars and books. They were all signed by several Jets players. That was awesome.
That 2009-2011 Jets team made me love this franchise. They were the underdog babyface hero with a lot of interesting players. Young QB with supermodel gf in Mark Sanchez. Fat boisterous head coach with a personality that matches his weight.(Rex Ryan) A defensive phenomenon in Darrelle Revis, and the man with unlimited kids in Antonio Cromartie. Add in the David The Hitman Harris, and the lovable OL Duo of D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold. Can't forget the flyboyz in Braylon Edwards and the Jet himself Santonio Holmes. I also live in Florida. Went to the 2014 Season Finale vs the Dolphins and saw Geno Smith of all people torch the Fins lol. It seems like every year this team has something going, whether it be Tebowmania, Fitzmagic/Tragic, Exceeding or falling below expectation. This team has that it factor!
great story thanks for telling about how you became a fan of the the jets i have always have had respect for jets fans !!! i am a jags fan from New York i became a fan when i saw the jags on the new madden which was madden 1996 for the sega genesis saw they had a great logo and was starting to get into Nfl football and from there i just stayed with them !!!!
1982, Jets @ Dolphins AFC Championship game! I was 12 years old, it was the first Jets game I ever watched them play and I was hooked ever since. They lost 14-0 (if I remember all the facts correctly) but they played their hearts out! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets
I enjoyed listening to you story because I can relate. My dad is also a Jet fan. He moved to NY in the early 60's and felt because he was new in town he should follow new teams (Mets and Jets). He's stuck by them ever since. I just kinda followed suit. We also generally root for the underdog teams so this is the Jets (most of the time) so it's fitting. It's satisfying each time they win, even it's an ugly game.
I’m from Illinois but I’m a die hard KC Chiefs fan with ties to Missouri. I’ve always loved the color red, I was 10 when I started getting into it more and I haven’t stopped since. And I got to experience my first NFL game in Kansas City back in 2015 with my dad, grandpa, and brother and cousin. Those are memories I’ll cherish forever. I remember becoming a fan when we had a horrible 2-14 record but I didn’t care, GO CHIEFS! And good luck to ur Jets next season.
I remembered your channel back when we (Vikings) played you guys last year. So I came back and subscribed. I won't call myself a Jets fan but I'm sympathetic to them or outright pity them. I would like the Jets to have a good season as I'm, like so many other, sick and tired of the Patriots. I think coming from outside NYC, I prefer the Jets and don't like the Giants. But if I was from inside NYC, I would probably go for the Giants due to their long history. I respect that you have your team and you stick with them.
I was actually a jets and giants fan and didn't really pay attention to football until 2013 and then I just went with the jets as they were better. And been a nets fire life ever since.
So I grew up in Missouri, where I became a Jets fan, I was in elementary school,i was being forced to read a book and do a report on said book, back then there was these NFL greatest moments books,(now we have youtube videos),low and behold I randomly grabbed Super Bowl 3 I read it, read it again and probably a dozen more times, this was around 84-85 I was in 3rd grade and now im 44, it was so amazing reading about it,though id never watched a football game in my life, being in the Midwest basketball was it in the 80s ,so … one night shortly there after , I watched my first game, the second half of the 85 bears destroying the pats in that Super Bowl, I was hooked and asked whos your fav team, I remembered that book and said the JETS, next season I was deadicated, and that was the year of the Marathon by the lake game,Damn, every year Kosar and the browns or Elway and the Broncos ruined it in the playoffs, people say they didn't have a good team, that OBrien was a flake, and that's just not true they had a Great team, but there were a few Great teams Historically in that time( like a few dynasty teams) and we just missed it, well life went on and I missed some years in the 90s but came back to football the year Parcells went to the AFC(though at the time I didn't realize that)I had moved to Georgia at the age of 15 and that year the falcons beat the vikes and went to there first super bowl, so everyone here was freaking out, when I found out the Jets had a chance I was livid, but honestly that may have been one of the worst games id ever seen they turned the ball over so much (no one wins like that),but of course I watched the following season the Monday night Miracle, all my friends went to bed ,said its over, but I watched to the end and it was the best game ever, Green Lantern/wayne, coming down with that catch at the back of the endzone and Elliot making that catch I was jumping into the roof, but after that game they fell into a black hole till rex came to town, man we were never closer than those 2 years and now so much hope, I seriously worry about Gase running that Zone rush Attack, it can work, but it can get Darnold killed, but I think our Defense will be much better, we just have to see,.... I never been to a game there but once was less than a mile from the The Meadowlands, I saw it but never got there was just passing by, I think its cool that like me your not from there but choose them, love your channel keep up the good fight, and GO JETS!!!
Its crazy cause my dad and Big Brother are Cowboys fan but unfortunately my dad passed away when I was 11 .. he coaches me for a year before he passed!.. but my uncle jim (My dads Brother) was the BIGGEST Jets fan growing up and I really became a Jets fan in 08 when they traded for Brett Favre, I love Brett Favre and one of the greatest games he ever played was that game against Oakland when he lost his dad that first game ....love the Jets , I can't wait see the jets win a superbowl one year, this teams close!
Great to hear you’re story man! I have always bleed green and white. I’m doing this now with my 2 boys. They know it’s green and white in our home. Cool story bro go Jets ✈️
Just noticed your channel in my suggested videos yesterday. Jets fan here too. I have sorta a priority list of NFL teams i root for, example Ravens are my #2. Interesting to hear an out of NJ/NY Jets fan experience of growing up liking them but living somewhere else. I actually have the same story as you but for hockey. Anaheim Ducks fan, tbh yes the movies got me into them, but when watching a team that isn’t local became way easier for me for find out information & how to watch the games aka primetime games & NHL TV etc, i was able to finally rly follow the team i always wanted to & started rly doing that since 2011. Also cause of the few times i saw the Flyers in 97 & 98 i thought their style of games were way more exciting than the NJ Devils (i’m from NJ). Devils were playing “the trap” at the time, lots of defense, not a lot of action or scoring so when i was 10, i was bored out of my mind. I watched the Flyer’s 98’ cup run & their style of play was the complete opposite & very exciting for me, hard hits, scoring, loved it. So for me Ducks are my #1, Flyers are my #2. Now that i derailed from football, whoops, how did i become a Jets fan? Family, & their underdog history, read it up in my library at elementary school when i was little & when i read about Super Bowl 3 & how underrated they were that’s when i got hooked. I see myself as an underdog, so i almost always want the underdog to win. I started to like the Ravens a lot cause 2010-2011 i rly liked their style of how they played the game & i also read up a bit on Baltimore’s football history. I felt liking them kinda bucked the NJ,NY,PA football fandom locally. Btw Jets’ new/newer team HQ in Florham Park, NJ is across from my alma mater, FDU. The HQ was being built while i was still taking classes. I should be going to training camp at the end of this month (July), can’t wait!
Born and raised in Louisiana. Was a Saints for a while but i just lost connection with them. Tried the Raiders...i had no connection from the start. I wanted a team i could love and support no matter what through thick and thin. I found the Jets. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!
My cousin was rooting for them in like 2009 and im younger than him and he influenced me to be a fan. My dad likes the redskins and wanted to like them but i chose the jets. I'm 16 btw so i haven't really seen much success besides the back to back afc championships.
growing up with a bad team is more rewarding then growing up with a winning team... i grew up a yankees and jets fan, i care much more about the jets winning because I already have seen the yankees win 5 championships. All the losing will be worth it when they finally do win
@@nicholasdepinho7239 IF they finally win. The Johnson's could easily go 50 years without a Super Bowl win. No hyperbole. The way these clowns run Johnson & Johnson it wouldn't surprise me if the Jets remain the joke of the NFL for decades. These are the guys who have been KNOWINGLY SELLING TALCUM POWDER WITH CANCER CAUSING ASBESTOS in it. They covered it up for years in order to keep making money. They also lied about the dangers of opioids in order to maximize profit. They have been ordered to pay $572 Million for that. (Not nearly enough) These mfers should literally be in prison. How are they even allowed to own an NFL franchise? The Johnson's do not deserve the loyalty Jets fans have shown them throughout the years. I've been watching this franchise suck for 36 years and I'm convinced the only way to change it is to stop buying tickets until the team is sold. Enough is enough.
Here is MY story of how I became a New York Jets fan.... When I was growing up, I was never big into sports, much less the NFL, except when the super bowls would air on TV. However, in my senior year of High School, I've had friends who were huge sports fans. One of them, who is a HUGE Giants fan would always tell me what the winners were for each week. That's when in my senior I started getting into football. At that time, believe it or not, I was actually a supporter of both the Jets AND the Giants for three seasons, watching BOTH teams play against different teams. However now, I began to realize that even though they both play for the state of New York, I cannot be a DIEHARD fan of both football teams. I had to make a decision, and because the JETS are personally more of my favorite team to root for, I picked the New York Jets to root for!! It was also because of a few theme songs for the Jets on TH-cam that drew me closer to falling in love with this team!
I became a Jet fan in ima say 08 my sister is a die hard Jet fan and I remember one time me and her had went too a sports bar and it was nothing but Jet fans and they were Charing and it was a great time I had and that's why I'm a Jet fan
That's awesome, bro! I've been a jets fan since 2009 (I was in middle school). I'm from San Antonio, Texas, so I'm surrounded by Cowboys and Texans fans. My younger brother is also a Jets fan, while my oldest and youngest brothers are die hard patriots fans, so it's definitely awkward two Sundays a year. Lol
Mostly hockey and "soccer" here in sweden but i fell in love with fotball from movies or series. And found jets in an old madden demo(2010 or so). Was jets vs giants and i always picked jets and done so ever since.
Yeah i became a die hard jets fan when i was in kindergarten. My best friend had a jets jersey and loved how it stood out( like the sky open up and shined a light and spoke to me) lol....and ever since was jets everything. My favorite player growing up when i was little was Wayne Cherbet, Curtis Martin, Vinny John Abraham, Donnie Abraham, Santana Moss and the list goes on. And i also don't have any ties or ever lived in the new york area( born and raised in Texas) and its cowboys everything and i get crap from all my friends about being a jets fan but earned there respect cuz i tell them I'm with my team thru the good( rare), bad( most times) and the ugly( to often) but with finally r franchise QB, the good is right around the corner. Hopefully r loyalty will come in success this year and going forward. Lets go J-E-T-S jets jets jets !!
Brother, I'm in Lexington Kentucky and have been a Jets fan since Curtis Martin and Chad Pennington. In fact, chad live here now and I coached his son in basketball
my story is i grew up in peekskill which is where the jets practiced in the 1960s. when i went to high school there was this teacher mr testa. i never had him as a teacher but i knew him since he was the former mayor and a guy who spent his whole life in peekskill. one day online i found a blog he wrote about growing up in peekskill in the 60s and the summers when the jets would come to practice. his house was on the street right behind the training camp so he would greet the players every day when they went to and from the practice field and get autographs. he talked about meeting guys like jim turner, mat snell, don maynard, Emerson boozer, George sauer and Sherman plunkett. and the coaches like weeb ewbank chuck konx and walt michales. after reading the blog a few time and few documentaries on joe namath and the 68 jet i fell in love with the team and have been a fan ever since
JetsCentral i know ive got the link if you'd like to take a look its honestly a good read johngtesta.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/my-memories-of-the-ny-jets-in-peekskill/
Ian we have many similarities in becoming Jets fans. I am much older though at age 62. Probably older than your Dad who I'm hoping you still have. I still have mine at age 87. He lives in Melbourne,Florida. I live in Port St Lucie,Fla. home to the Mets so we get lots of Mets/Jets fans up this way. Not sure where in Fla you are from but I know of a few Jets fan clubs one being in Tampa area and a few down in the Fort Lauderdale area. I moved from LI to Davie,Fl. ( Dolphinville) in 82. I never was very into football back then nearly as much as baseball. It was really all about rock n roll for me as I played drums in some local bands back then. I used to work security at the Orange bowl and got to see some great Jets/fins games with Marino vs O'brien. I started getting more and more into the Jets mainly because back then the So.Fla people despised NYers even more than they do today. They never even knew me but once they knew I was from NY they would say take 95 north and don't come back! Very very unfriendly so I stuck to my roots and all my home teams Mets/Jets and some Giants/Rangers and Knicks. As time went by I got married to a Dolphin fan and had 2 boys with her. I did not force my 2 sons to root for the Jets as I knew how tough it would be to fit in with all the dolphin fanatics that hated the Jets fans the most. My oldest now works for the Dolphins so it's all good lol. They buy me my Jets gear every year for Christmas. I will say this. I have been beat up at dolphin stadium and put in the ICU one monday night game out in the parking lot so I never go alone anymore to games and I watch my drinking as well lol. One time I bought hundreds of green balloons and walked the whole parking lot and gave them out to every Jets fan I could find. The plan was to have all the Jets fans toss the balloons around after they scored a TD. Well after the Jets trailed by 3 TD's before they scored I think nobody cared anymore to do it. But I tried. I also tried to open a NY sports bar in Pompano Beach for a cpl years but it flopped. If you have not been to a Jets/Dolphins game here in Miami I highly recommend going as we get probably 10 to 15 k Jets fans in that place. It's amazing how many tailgate too. Now I have not been there in 2 years since covid so I'm not even sure if tailgaiting is allowed anymore. Last cpl times I went we do bus trips. The Hard Rock Hotel does one every year to one of the games and its a blast but not sure which one yet this year. One of these games we have to hook up and have a beer! Go Jets! Keep doing what you do brother! George V.
Sweden young first game i saw against The patriots i couldent let me get to The patriots so i had to go whit The JETS! Saw my first live game in metlife stadium last year 2017 against The jags it was sooooo awsome!
A lot of. New Yorkers have migrated to Florida and California over the years interesting. Do you like the Mets too? Their spring training games are there. Fun story thanks for sharing. I remember all of the games you talked about well I would enjoy sharing my story with you but I'm a slow typist. Go Jets
i became a jets fan because my cousin have been telling me to be a fan ever since i was a kid. The first game i really watched was the Jets vs Colts wildcard in the 2010 i believe. i almost cried when we lost the afc championship that year
Chargers fan in Virginia. Philip Rivers and his attitude really drew me in. They have some of the nicest uniforms which doesn't hurt either. It's very rare to run into other Chargers fans here. I guess I'll have to wait and see how much I care once Phil is gone. I've also rooted for Dallas to go against all the Skins fans here.
BRO thats awesome!!
I grew up worshiping my older brother, so I loved all the teams he liked. Jets Knicks Rangers and Yankees
That is why I became a Jets fan
thats wonderful :)
I live in Georgia, but I’m a Jets fan.
Ryan Buck I like your style
Ryan Buck I like your style
Same except I picked Ottawa
Same here Ryan! Isles, Jets, & Mets
Yankees, Jets, and Devils here! I like the islanders too.
I was born in Florida, but raised in New York. And I co-sign your fandom. Best Jets commentary on yt. !
Glenn was my guy! Awesome story man!
Jets are still trash
When I was young WR fast Eddie Bell was at our house. He left us a. signed picture and invited my family to a Jet game. Been a fan since.
The Flea!!
My father bought season tickets in 1960 when they were the Titans. I started going to games in 1976 when I was 10. We sold our seats in 1983 when they moved to New Jersey.
So I have bled green and white for a long time and always will.
I feel young now! Lol
Garkis Bloodlust yes I could be one of the Elder Statesman on Jets Central
Fantastic story Mark!
Jets fan live in Manhattan. My dad is a die hard Jet fan and I just followed him
Me too!
My dad is a browns fan lol
I’m from NYC. So it’s Yankees and the jets for me along with the nets. It’s just amazing that u are from the south and you connect to so many jet fans worldwide. Keep the going going bro💪🏾
I was big on Mark Sanchez and just stuck with them. 2010-till I die
What a bad player to like; my heart fucking sank when they picked him because I knew he was going to suck.
I was at the Monday night Miracle. What a great come back.My dad was a Jets fan too. That's how I became a fan.
Thanks for sharing. What's better than father/son bonding time at a young age, sprinkled with a life lesson about perseverance? The undenial truth that sports brings people together in a magical way.
Bro best comment ive seen so far, glad you enjoyed it
Thanks JC.
I became a Jets fan in 2007 my Dad is the reason he used to watch football and then I started getting into it we have good memories of some playoff games it’s a special father and son thing that I’ll never forget
yessir dude!
I’m from Tennessee and I love the jets because their color scheme is highly underrated and I love it.
Happy Birthday Joe Namath!
Rex K FUCK JOE NAMATH...MOST OVERRATED QB IN NFL HISTORY!
NYMETS NYGIANTS & DUKE stfu
I became a fan when I was in 6th grade. A few Jets players came to my school and talked to us. I became a real Jets fan in 2008. I live in East Hanover, which is the town right next to Florham Park. They were advertising “Jets Day” at the park so I went and I met so many players and they were so amazing. I started watching them after that and I fell in love. I also met Geno Smith when I worked at Enterprise. I had to drive him back to the Jets campus lol.
Will never forget watching Braylon Edwards dragging two Patriot defenders into the end zone in that AFC game. Really enjoy your videos. Go Jets.
Born and raised in new York. used to watch games on my dad's lap in 70's till he died in 1979. I'm in colts country now
I became a fan in 2010. I’ve been raised this way. Jet Up Forever! ✈️✈️✈️
My super bowl pick haha
I am 18 years old, I am from London UK. I became a Jets fan for a long time.
Love the memory remind me when l fell in love with my jets early 90s. Go jets !!!!!!#
GO JETS
Dude that is great man!!
I was born in San Francisco became a jets fan because i liked the green jerseys when i was a kid
Great history, this is the best fanbase, lets go jets from Brazil 💚🤍
Chris Lang your mom made a great choice. Haha.
LukeCageforhire I agree man lol
JETS! JETS!
Dude never apologize for a long comment. I loved reading that man!! Go jets!
1986 or 87 the first game I ever watched was jets Seahawks and the jets smashed them. Been a fan ever since. In the uk we only got highlights and the live Monday night game but it was on about 1am and my dad let me stay up and watch it with him. I must have been about 8. Didn’t have the internet back then to check score and I’d have to watch the highlights on channel 4 the following sat morning.
thats crazy man!! i love it
I live in NY and I remember watching the Giants and Jets when I first started watching football when I was younger, and I just loved how the Jets played and I loved how they were always doubted and were the underdog, so I started rooting for them and I’ve been a fan ever since.
I get plenty of crap up here from Giants fans lol.
not this year! only won 2 games !
Wait, that happened at my school to.
BRO I WAS AT THAT GAME TOO!
great story thanks for telling about how you became a fan of the the jets i have always have had respect for jets fans !!! i am a jags fan from New York i became a fan when i saw the jags on the new madden which was madden 1996 for the sega genesis saw they had a great logo and was starting to get into Nfl football and from there i just stayed with them !!!!
Im from d.c i love da jets so i completely understand 26 years 💪
1982, Jets @ Dolphins AFC Championship game! I was 12 years old, it was the first Jets game I ever watched them play and I was hooked ever since. They lost 14-0 (if I remember all the facts correctly) but they played their hearts out!
J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets
The Killer Bee’s.
That was painful to watch, I was 9.
@@ziggymorris8760 Yes it was!
You have my deepest sympathies, as a long time Jets fan going back to #12 🏈
The awesomeness will return soon.
Started getting into football the past few days and chose them because their fanbase seems like the most passionate imo
I appreciate you stopping man!! I’ll be pulling your Chiefs Sunday! Goodluck
@JetsCenteral A Friend Of Mine is a NY Jets Fan So I’m a Eagles Fan But The Good Thing is That He And I Still Get Along!
Don't like to go into game week without watching my JC videocast!💚👌🏽🏉🌟🥰
Thanks so much Andre!
Cool story bro go Jets ✈️
haha GO JETS make sure they dont root for the pats lol
My friend who is my brother now is a jets fan. So long story short jets will now be my family team. Already got my 10 month old son in training. 😁
Their 2009 Defense made me a fan, and I've been a loyal fan since then.
All the losing will be worth it when they finally do win
you will bro!
@@nicholasdepinho7239 we will NEVER win
The Monday night game where Vinny hits Dedric Ward with the clincher in New England ranks up there too!
Connecticut Jet fan right here!!!
Became a fan because of hard knocks. Didn’t have a team in la at that time and Rex Ryan got me hyped up lol
Lol
haha cool man
You should be a mets fan now
Mostly hockey and "soccer" here in sweden but i fell in love with fotball from movies or series.
Wayne Cherbet STUD!
Brother, I'm in Lexington Kentucky and have been a Jets fan since Curtis Martin and Chad Pennington. In fact, chad live here now and I coached his son in basketball
That’s awesome man!! What a story!
JetsCentral chad a good dude
my story is i grew up in peekskill which is where the jets practiced in the 1960s. when i went to high school there was this teacher mr testa. i never had him as a teacher but i knew him since he was the former mayor and a guy who spent his whole life in peekskill. one day online i found a blog he wrote about growing up in peekskill in the 60s and the summers when the jets would come to practice. his house was on the street right behind the training camp so he would greet the players every day when they went to and from the practice field and get autographs. he talked about meeting guys like jim turner, mat snell, don maynard, Emerson boozer, George sauer and Sherman plunkett. and the coaches like weeb ewbank chuck konx and walt michales. after reading the blog a few time and few documentaries on joe namath and the 68 jet i fell in love with the team and have been a fan ever since
DUDE AWESOME
George V.
My transition to football and becoming a jet fan was when the iconic Broadway Joe made that famous promise. 😉
Sweden young first game i saw against The patriots i couldent let me get to The patriots so i had to go whit The JETS! Saw my first live game in metlife stadium last year 2017 against The jags it was sooooo awsome!
Glad to have you aboard son. Jet Blue Airlines will become Jet Green Airlines.
Really great video bro
The first game i really watched was the Jets vs Colts wildcard in the 2010 i believe. i almost cried when we lost the afc championship that year
I grew up with the Jets and my family is Jets fans so I became on in 2011 when I was 6 years old
Chargers fan in Virginia.
That was the first jets game I watched was them and the pats and I’ve been a fan since
Great video bro i can't wait for the season to begin go jets
