I keep asking/drawing attention to this for Corey, but he still keeps doing it. You mustn’t speak to the Interpreter instead of the person being interviewed. It is so disrespectful. The correct way is to speak directly to the person and not say, ‘Ask him/her if…’ or, ‘Does he/she think…etc’. You are not asking the Interpreter you are asking the interviewee. Why oh why Corey do you keep doing this? I volunteer amongst Interpreters so am qualified to say this. Again, it is so disrespectful. You wouldn’t ask one of your friends to say, ‘Ask him/her blah blah’ so why do it with anyone else? So rude.

I've said this countless times in his videos already, and I guess I'll say it countless more - 1. As mentioned he's not a journalist, he's a guy with a camera who decided to whip out a camera, he's asking both Israelis and Palestinians questions he gets from other people, and he doesn't edit the answers - he doesn't have a goddamn agenda, which brings me to 2. Every goddamn video there're people saying "oh wow you don't like his answer so you try to steer" when in fact Corey is literally just trying to get a specific answer to his specific question. In every video people will give completely different answers to what he was asking, in this case he's asking if they personally experienced something, and they answer with a general statement. I will say that yes, Corey can be more polite about it, I honestly think he might have Asperger's or something, but otherwise he's doing a fantastic job.

So I came from the opposing view video and I saw a comment that essentially said that the ppl in this video were just lying or exaggerating and that whenever they were pressed for answers they would say they never experienced violence personally. I was going to watch this vid anyway but I'm now watching it with that comment in mind and man it's such b.s. I wish ppl would stop being ridiculous and dishonest but I know they won't. Both sides are using violence but you can't use that as a "see both sides are even!" argument. Btw the ppl claiming there's a difference between soldiers/police and settlers have clearly never been oppressed. There is no difference from an experiential standpoint. Corey may press for a difference in his question but that's because he's trying to responsibly get clarity for his interview. But in a general sense there is no difference. And ofc there may be a translation issues with the words soldier/settler/police. Not every time but some of the time.

Couple things (and no hate to Corey, just pointing out a few thoughts I had while watching) - it feels like a huge get-out-of-jail-free card to be able to separate "settler violence" and "soldier violence", considering how closely those two are intertwined. Essentially, soldiers are settlers who are serving in the army. Soldiers go home to their families... who are also settlers. An Israeli soldier's duty is to have the settlers' backs in nearly 100% of Israeli-Palestinian conflicts, which makes it extremely biased when it comes to assessing guilt. Also, there's the issue of non-violent attacks on Palestinian youth, particularly. Holding children for hours without reason, possibly multiple times a week, causing them to miss their education... this has a major impact on a society. It's like an authoritarian regime banning books that offer insight into freedom because they don't want their citizens to learn and progress in life. It's not "violence" as in throwing rocks and killing a child, but it is a slow and calculated obliteration of their future.

Mzsurr. No hate to you etc,I come in love, peace and brotherhood but have you ever taken a walk in Hebron? I once did and on a school day I was surprised at the number of Palestinian kids wandering around looking rather dogeared and neglected when they should have been in school.I don't think the IDF need to assume any guilt for obliterating these kids futures- most likely they were holding them for little incidents like hurling boulders at Jewish civilians in cars or other forms of attack which many have been taught to do at their schools....y'know just obliterating peoples futures...

    • @ckmbyrnes
      @ckmbyrnes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I disagree. the difference between "settler violence" and "soldier violence" is that soldiers are direct representatives of the government. An act of violence by them is a direct connection back to the government and its policies. If a soldier does something violent, the government has to answer for it. Settler violence is not sanctioned by the government, however, but is an indication of the feelings and attitudes of the people themselves. The settlers can perform an act of violence and face legal ramifications of the government, because what they do is contrary to the law and order the government is trying to enforce. While neither is good, one is an attempt to maintain order while the other aims to disrupts it.
As far as no-violent attacks, while I can see some people, soldiers and settlers alike, being a-holes just for the sake of being an a-hole, most of the stories relayed lacked details. Without knowing the process of crossing a border, did the girl forget some paperwork, or was she snarky to the soldiers, or was it the wrong time of day? Don't know. Or people throwing stones at cars, were they kids having (destructive) fun, or did the driver flip them the bird first or was someplace they should not have been? I'm not saying its right, and they may have a legitimate grievances, but one needs some details before rushing to judgement.

Jewish civilians (and of course soldiers) deal with rocks thrown at them all the time by "shabab", the cars and buses have needed mesh cages covering the windows; we have all dealt with this.
Of course this does not justify radical "Hilltop youth" settlers throwing stones at Arab civilians, but don't play make pretend that Arabs never attack Jews with stones.
The other claim constantly made by the pro-Palestinian Arab side is "it is just stones, it is a legitimate form of protest, nobody is hurt by a stone, right?". Until it happens that a Jewish settler throws a stone at an Arab or an Arab woman, like Aisha al Rabi (mentioned in this video) is killed by rocks thrown by Jews. Then all of a sudden it's recognized that throwing rocks at someone is a violent and potentially deadly act.

It seems that there is a big misunderstanding between the Arabic word for Settler and Soldier. I don't know if this is the fault of the wording in the question or how the translator has worded it. In most of the questions that were put the people thought that it was soldiers that was meant and gave their answer accordingly. May I suggest that this could reflect the reality of the situation on the ground and that settlers have been blamed because of the action of soldiers. All from a mistranslation.

    1. I love this channel as it has helped me to have a better understanding of the differing views of Israelis and Palestinians as an American Jew over the past few years.
    2. Personally, I want the State of Israel to exist as I fear what could happen to Jews if it was destroyed (especially since there are so many different Jewish communities who live in Israel). However, I also believe that the Palestinians are entitled to, and should have an independent state with East Jerusalem as their capital.
    3. I don't like a number of Israel's policies and its' government, and I also dislike a number of things with Fatah and Hamas.

The Palestinian Authority actually publishes data on settler harassment every few years as part of it's Victimization Survey. In 2020, .7% of Palestinian households were "exposed to Israeli soldiers or settlers harassment or assault". In the previous report from 2016 the figure was 1.3%. So roughly 1 in 100 Palestinian households was exposed to harassment, whatever that vague term means. The survey does specify in a separate table that only 8.3% of the .7% included "physical harm". So .06% of Palestinian households were exposed to physical harm by Israeli soldiers or settlers all year according to the Palestinians themselves.

Hi Corey! Regarding the point about checkpoints. They violate Palestinians' freedom of movement. It's no secret that Palestinians are humiliated and abused by Israeli forces at the checkpoints, and unfortunately they are becoming a permanent way of controlling Palestinians and restricting their right to growth and movement.
Another example of how a checkpoint is a form of violence is women in labor who are forced to give birth at checkpoints. For example between 2000 and 2006, 68 women were forced to give birth at checkpoints. 35 of them lost the babies, and five died during childbirth.
It's about more than just being made to wait two hours to cross so as to get to school. Maybe you can do a video about checkpoints and what Palestinians have to experience at them?

I just found he was slightly sarcastic when he was pointing out to one of the ladies how she prefers physical violence to 1 or 2 hours wait like she was referring to waiting time at the dentist's. She was clearly meaning that the psychological humiliation at a checkpoint when they put you aside for no reason other than humiliating a 14 year old student is more traumatizing than physical violence. I find it hard to believe Corey didn't get the meaning of what she said.

I am talking 5 or 6 years old children!
The next day, apparently there kids' parents were throwing rocks around the same area, under police protection of course. I was lucky to be a minute late, police locked the road at the moment I arrived, and I had to take a really long alternative road because police cant do more that politely ask them to leave or refrain from throwing rocks

I've seen people try to compare Israeli Settler violence to Palestinian violence in the West Bank as a way to obfuscate the whole conflict. In reality Israeli settlers are free to attack Palestinians, destroy their property, and even steal it with IDF escort. If a Palestinian tries to defend themselves or take retribution (whether you agree with that or not) they can be arrested or even killed by those IDF escorts. If arrested, Palestinians are subjected to the Israeli military court system where they have no rights or recourse. The conviction rate of Palestinian males in that system is nearly 100 percent, clearly it isn't fair. However, on the occasions that a Israeli settler is arrested for violence. They aren't subject to Palestinian justice. Instead they are tried by Israeli civilian justice system where they have all the rights afforded to an Israeli citizen. Even if those crimes were on what is legally Palestinian Land. There is only one word to describe that kind of systemic violence and inequality, Apartheid.

    True history
The Roman general Pompey conquered Syria and Israel in 63 BCSome of the Jews rebelled against it,
there was a people who invaded the Land of Israel even before the people of Israel left Egypt,
the name of this people was "Plishtim" it is also written in the Bible. This people became extinct when
the Romans conquered the Land of Israel. The name "Plishtim" In Hebrew/"Paleshtina" In Roman Palestine?
This is a name that the Romans called the Land of Israel, to humiliate the people of Israel
They also called Jerusalem "iIlya Capitolina" and also the city "shchem" mentioned in the Bible,
called it "Niapolis" .The biggest lie is Palestine. The name Palestine was called by the Romans when
there was a Jewish majority in the Land of Israel. The Romans called it so in order to despise the Jews.
The name "shchem " mentioned in the Bible is also called "Niapolis" . The Arabs call it "nables"
. Because they do not pronounce the letter "p".There has never been a people called "Palestinians".
They all invaded Israel from Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and more
...In Israel in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria there are families whose name is "Al-Masri" which means "Egyptian" in Arabic.
The "Halabi" family means from the city of "halab" in Syria, and other such names that
surely understand that they came from outside the Land of Israel, especially when Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon exiled most of the people of Israel to Babylon (so it is written in the Bible)
.There is no Palestinian nation, there has never been such a people, The terrorist Yasser Arafat decided
to call it that in 1948To get public sympathy. ask who was the Prime Minister of Palestine ?!
You will never find.Who were her ministers?Where was the king's palace? The president's house?
The Prime Minister's house?Where was Parliament? What's her coin ?! Even if you ask every Arab in the
world that he claims to be "Palestinian", what does the name "Palestine" mean ?! He does not know .
There is no such thing and there was not. Everyone who digs in the ground finds coins of the people of Israel,
inscriptions, jewelry, graves, coffins, and more ...There is nothing and they have not found anything that belongs
to a people called "Palestine".This is the reality, and whoever thinks otherwise has to prove it. The Arabs / Muslims
have conquered the whole area. While the people of Israel were exiled from their land by the Romans. It is written in
the Bible that the people of Israel will return to their land. And here after 2000 years as promised in the Bible
, he returned to his country from all over the world,Everyone who kept his Judaism for 2000 years came to this country.
There are German Jews, Roman Jews, Austrian Jews, Egyptians, Yemenis, Moroccans, Tunisians, Algerians, French,
Swedes and more ....And he who does not understand then I am sorry for him ... especially if he is a Muslim
, because in the Qur'an it is written that this land belongs to the people of the book. (Bible)

They also „operated“ in Hebron yesterday where Palestinian people were kicked out of their houses by force from fanatic settlers. And in Jenin they got a military operation also. It was a 20 year old so called suspect. They wanted to bomb or to burn the suspect in the house or to force him out of the house. To locate exactly where he was they send a dog with camera on his back inside the house, and then they surprisingly fired a rocket at the place where their dog was. The animal caught fire and screamed and cries of pain until the video stopped. I know that is maybe just an animal, but it was theirs.
