    Great video, just used this to replace mine. I had trouble getting the inner piece of the bearing off so if you are in the same position i went to NAPA auto parts machine shop and the took the old one off and pressed the new one on for $30. Saves slot of curse words!

    When putting the new CSB on, you don’t need a special tool. Take the plastic part out of the clamping nut and screw the clamping nut loosely back on to the other side of the driveshaft.
    You can use this to push the new CSB in by sliding the two drive shaft pieces together.
    Also, a gear puller will make taking the old CSB off much easier, and with no damage from a chisel.

    I just want to reiterate for anybody who sees this comment, that you really do not want to beat those bearings on, or bearings in general. That looks like a self aligning ball bearing. They can handle some axial load, but not the force from hammering it on. Not only will it lead to premature failure, but it will make it significantly harder to remove. Clean the drive shaft up with some coarse emery cloth, follow with fine emery cloth if you want to, apply anti seize, and slide it on.

      People work too hard! Work smarter not harder! Put that damn bearing in the freezer for a 2-4 hours, heat the shaft up a little with a low heat torch and boom the bitch will slide on like butter🧈. Just don’t hear the bearing cause there is rubberized material around it😅

    • @kobisimons6081

    Good job on the actual change. I would add that when reinstalling, the bearing needs to be preloaded by loosely mounting it, then moving it approximately 3-5mm. I can't recall the exact distance and direction (front/rear), but that is critical.

      @@goldenhide So I mount the bearing in its position like the old one then move it back out 4-6 mm? When and how do I move it 4-6 mm?

    • @goldenhide
      @goldenhide ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @legioner9 Center the CSB assy up on the posts or holes (can't remember did mine awhile back) and then move the entire assembly forward 4-6mm. It'll give some resistance. Remember the purpose is to preload the bearing assy, so it's gonna have some resistance.
      Takes some tool/hand juggling, but tighten enough to hold it down in that position and then torque if you care about it or snug everything down if you don't.

    I have a question that’s somewhat relevant. I have had a knocking sound under my 330ci e46 that’s been getting worse. After playing the guessing game and digging into my pockets, I finally took it to a shop and the guy said I need a new driveshaft. I haven’t looked at it myself yet, but if that’s the case, I was wondering if a driveshaft off an m3 e46 would fit my 330ci? I’ve had some say it should bolt up, and others have told me the threading might be a little bigger/smaller. And since the differentials May be different idk if that would cause any installing issues.

    nice job ; excellent explanaitions ; funny to see the 330 has the opening 180° off from the M3 ;
    we have the parts in this order ; front shaft; bearing ; center support braket ; dust cover ; rear shaft ...
    just like on the ETK ; i hope they used a generic picture for the 330 as the etk also says bearing between front shaft and support braket ; then dust cover and rear shaft ;) ...
    but i know M3 E30 has it all 180° off too so i wont say its an error ; just bizare the dust cover is the size of the opening on the rear of the support braket. ..

But only when the car is cold. If I raise the engine speed during acceleration (from staying), problem is not so heavy. When I driving in the city, on roadway, there are no vibrations or any symptoms... Are these symptoms of bad center bearing/hardy clutch failure? Thanks.

    An other nice video from you. I have a F11 520d i have vibration on highway-speeds. But it is after 120 - 130 not before. The vibration is always there. I have three set of wheels two sets of 17” and 19”. All wheels are balanced and 0-0 on the machine. 19” wheels are fitted with brand new continental sport contact 6 but the vibration are still there. Could the culprit be driveshaft or engine/transmission mounts?

    These driveshafts are individually balanced so it does not matter how you put it back together.
