What a lovely episode!
But I think particularly poignant is the card on the bar with the slogan "Fight Leukemia!" with slots for quarters to be put in for donation. I remember these cards well. Here the disease is leukemia, there were ones for polio and a card that held dimes for March of Dimes for preventionof childhood birth defects and disabilities.
Danny Thomas seeking God's wisdom and direction began St. Jude's Hospital and research facility to fight childhood cancer.
In the 1960's, the survival rate for childhood leukemia (ALL) was less than 10%. Today, survival rate is 90%. Ninety! St. Jude was the key player in research and treatment, and became integral in the coordination of research programs around the world. They also were very generous In sharing their findings and protocols. And patients still are not charged for the care received.
Well done, Mr. Thomas, well done.

Did anyone else notice the promotional poster of Danny asking to help fight Leukemia in back of the bartender? I did, I guess because at 80yo, I’m fighting Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
