Buronjee literally means "treasure of knowledge for fools".Secondly not all Ahoms are Hindus even today.Moidam or burial of dead bodies in pyramid style is still followed by a good section of Ahoms. In fact, all Ahom kings(Sworgodeus) were given burial in Moidam, even after embracing Hinduism.Likewise Choklong is an unique Ahom tradition of marriage where typical Vedic Hindu rituals are not followed.

U need to see the Discovery of Sunauli documentary, on that documentary they mention about burial of dead body's in Hindu culture, even those burial footage aside Ganga river viraling during covid period was actually a burial ground of a UP tribe they follow this burial technic from age's...

to Hindu gods than their own ancestors. As an Ahom I feel sad that our genuine identity is getting washed so easily. Similarly with the language, its losing its grip because of Hindi. Tai Ahom which was completely independent of Indo-Aryan and Mon-Khmer family of languages, was lost in a similar fashion due to our ancestors' mistake of partnering with the Brahmins.

As she has explained, it is extremely difficult to explain 600 years of Ahom history in 4 minutes. A lot of people are not aware about the history and culture of the NE states and there is always the temptation to imagine one homogeneous structure which is far from the reality. I would love to see a 30 min session at least talking about the different tribes of Assam, their history, food habits and overall culture. Also, since I have a Ahom in my family, not all Ahoms are Hindus and indeed some of them follow very specific practices including marriage rituals and so on. Glad though that the Print has some focus on the NE. I suppose it is one of those rare news channels that do focus on the NE.

People who are commenting that Tai Ahoms were hindu have no respect towards the Ahom people. We have our own language, own religion, own customs, own traditions so we don't need to follow other's path. Ahom have never fought against Islam but Mughal. In the battle of Saraighat we fought against Ram Singha who was a hindu.
Tai Ahom people give respect towards all religion. The muslim population of upper Assam who are known as "Gariya", they maintains harmony with ahom people. Don't try to divide on the basis of religion.
Tai Ahom people follow Baan-Phi. Baan-Phi is naturalism. It is Taoist ideology and influenced by Confuciusm. Ancestor worship is the basis of Baan-Phi.
It was the British who recorded Tai Ahom people as hindu. And slowly slowly that effected our religion.
Most respectfully the three priestly clans which are 𑜉𑜦𑜡 𑜑𑜤𑜂𑜫𑜼 𑜉𑜦𑜡 𑜆𑜤𑜂𑜫𑜼 𑜉𑜦𑜡 𑜋𑜂𑜫𑜫 𑜈𑜤𑜃𑜫𑜽 Because of them the Tai Ahom language, Traditions, Culture, Religion are still alive. Even the royal families don't have the right to show pride without these priestly clans. Royal families became corrupted. Leading to the end of Ahom reign. Bamuni Konwar or Suo-Dang-Pha, Siva Singha were the main culprits. There are still some snakes in Tungkhungia clan who tries to defame the three priestly clans. These fools don't know that without these priestly clans they are nothing.

Good attempt at explaining the gradual hinduization of the Tai Ahoms. One error which needs to be corrected: The writing of contemporary history in unique texts called buranji started immediately after the arrival of Chaolung Siu-ka-pha in the valley of the Brahmaputra in 1228 and not later as is mentioned in the video. Initial buranjis were written in the Tai Ahom script.

You have used pictures of Ahom "ban phi/phuralung" religion's rituals but there was no mention of it, which is not fair because Ahom people still practice their various rituals and festivals trying to keep the ethnic folk religion alive parallelly along with their hindu belief. And then there are many Ahoms who are Buddhist and Christians .

Good info. Thanks for sharing. Like Assam, even Manipur royals were seduced to embrace Vaishnavite Hinduism. A few subjects refused and ran away from the kingdom. All the surrounding tribals remain animism until Christianity came and transformed them. Historically, mainstream Assam and Manipur looked down on them anyway.
One positive development of Hindu Assam was that it prevented the Mughals from entering the region to ravage and forcefully convert people into Islam. The indigenous population in Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya have not embraced Hinduism or Islam. They are Christian for the most part. The Print is just a leftist brown sepoy (Self-Hating, Hinduophobic, Pro-Khangress & Anti-BJP elements), who has the typical colonial JNU marxist historian like narrative. You can guess how they skip & never talked about Ahoms defeating Mughals 17 times. Also read about the authors who wrote your NCERT history textbooks, all are marxist JNU historians
Southeast Asia & Northeast India were under same Dharmic umbrella with addition to pluralism. There is no strong distinction between Buddhism & Hinduism, as colonial & most western historians won't like to say
My authenticity: GK loving boy from Axom, who once was a brainwashed secular NCERT Hindu but turned into unapologetic Pro-India & Pro-Hindu
In short, Print displayed geopolitical propaganda

Ahom came from China via Thailand and Burma. They fought against the Rajput commanders of the Mughal army in 17th century. Before the Ahom came along with Nagas, Mizos, Meitais, khaki, Jayantiya the entire North East India had several Bengali Kingdoms in Pragyotish or Kamurup which was changed to Assam or Guwahati.

@Reality Bytes When you speak about Assam I think you are referring to the lower Assam region which infact was not fully under the control of Ahoms and was inhabited by both tribes and people of aryan stock . While Boro kacharis being the original inhabitants of Assam has been proved through archeology , anthropology and whatever the f##k logy . Right from the Mahabharata its being mentioned that kings of this region were Asuras , eg - Narakasura .. meaning they were of non-aryan origin . Bengali as an idea or concept is of late development . Yes these are the same people with same same blood and title like those in West bengal but if you are going to call them Bengalis than I dont think they would like to agree with you . You would most probably be beaten up by so called " bengalis " in Assam , who like to call themselves Assamese .

    • @parikshitlahan7055
      @parikshitlahan7055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@Reality Bytes I have never rejected the fact the Ahoms were not from this place, they were infact from a different land but having accepted Hinduism and by assimilating with the local population we have arrived in this time , where we are very much Indians and proud to be calling ourselves that , unlike you perhaps who is hell bent on proving God knows what . Just like the Sakhas and Kushanas who came from Central Asia and assimilated into the India society , we have done the same .The fact is no one is from a so and so place , its just about the timeline regarding when they arrived at a certain place . Homo sapiens came from Africa , no way I can call myself an african person now . Again when you say Bengali , you are actually corrupting the whole system which was going on . There wasnt a bengali identity back then , the land was changing hands between people every 50 years . Also here I would like to say that there didnt exist an Assamese identity also , it was initiated by the Ahom kings . In upper Assam rivers and places are named with prefix 'Di' - which proves that this land was infact inhabited by the boros in the past even when they dont live here at present . Even most of the tribes of Assam trace their origin with the larger Boro group . This being said I never rejected the fact that their rulers were Hindu kings , which is absolutely true . But just because the kings were of certain origin is it ok to call the whole population of the same origin . By that logic even the native americans are of British and French origin . Also adding to the fact that Boros worship Shiva as their ancient God , and Shiva is being worshiped even in the IVC , much before Indra or Surya were being worshiped by the Rig vedic people .

@Reality Bytes And dude you cant see everyone with the same pair of glasses . I am of mongoloid origin , an Ahom . I trace my lineage to king Sukhaamphaa who married a koch princess Sankala Gabhoru in the 16th century . A son was born of their union and I trace my bloodline to that person . We have a system of keeping records of family tree among the Ahoms . Most Ahoms or mongoloid people are not what you seem to describe . Most of them are just busy with their lives , I guess most you have met are just the kind that just hate to call themselves Indians and there are some of those . As far as wanting your land back , its your already yours , this is India not a foreign land . Here I speak only about Assam as I am an Assamese by birth .You may ask land from Bangladesh though , I too want Pakistan to hand over Kashmir , Infact most youth out here join the army for such purposes only . Ever heard of Assam regiment or Assam rifles . I guess not because Bengalis are too busy reading books which lack a bit of good sense perhaps .Is there insurgency in the North-east ? Yes . Is there insurgency in Kashmir ? Yes . Is there naxalism in central India ? Yes . Are there separatist forces in the South ? Yes . Is there a demand for Khalistan ? Yes . But you would rather want to find a solution to these problems rather than cursing or blaming their race . Because you are not born with patriotism , its what you develop as you grow . And at last there are enough Bengalis in West Bengal and India who still worship Mao and China , they are equally if not more an enemy of the state .
