He can just drop his second name Wolverine anytime. I have two names and the second name I don't always use it all the time. So he can just write Taiga de Guzman when he grows up and look for work.
Maksym И It’s a little better...but my people are just kinda racist. I know people don’t wanna hear that, but it often the truth. My family emigrated from 日本 in 1868....so I’m 5th generation Japanese American, AND I’M STILL PURE JAPANESE. Before anyone tries the “it’s a preference thing, not a racist thing”...my first girlfriend was Filipino/Chinese, similar complexion to Paolo, and my grandma told me, “if you marry that girl, I’m not going to your wedding!”. So I told her, “well we’re gonna miss you!.” As you can see, I’m pretty brown myself...so I’m often mistaken for Filipino, Brasilian, or Mexican...but other Japanese people, some of which have talked $hit in front of me, but in 日本語. So you can imagine how embarrassed they were when I spoke 日本語 back to them! If they are having a hard time with Taiga Wolverine over there...they should come move to Hawai’i. They bullying here is extremely low...and I firmly feel that it’s because of our extreme diversity. We have so many different races in Hawai’i, that it would be silly to tease a name ‘cause it’s probably just a normal name from that race.
Ninjamaster1AL I beg to differ, very much so. I’ve lived all over California, from northern to central to southern ...and a LOT of California is still very racist and segregated. Here, it’s all mixed up and living in Hawaii doesn’t cost much more than LA or SF...but as Japanese speakers, they’d find work pretty easily since tourism from 🇯🇵 is such a big industry here. Not to mention that our Japanese population is 20% and they’ll be able to find Japanese products everywhere in Hawai’i...even our 7-11s look a lot like the konbinis in 東京.
As a father of a two year old boy, with twins on the way. I can effectively say that Taigawolverine is going to make his life difficult. Probably anywhere in the world.
My country banned naming babies "Superman" and "Batman", cause when they grew up they were getting bullied to infinity and beyond. Im sure Wolverine would be the same. Love your videos, your babys name not so much lol
wolverine isn’t just a superhero name tho lol also i know it’s not an actual middle name but i believe when you’re among friends or strangers he won’t have to always share his second name in this case since (correct me if im wrong) i believe in Japanese culture you normally call the person by their surname unless they tell you otherwise, so im sure their kid is gonna be fine and bullying someone for their name is dumb to begin with, in the following decades there’s gonna be all kinds of name so to already say now that he’s gonna have problems when he’s growing up is a stretch, the pronunciation thing I can’t comment on
Bro, I have an unusual name too, please for the love of all that is good and holy DON’T call your son WOLVERINE, it’s honestly downright humiliating and he’ll get into plenty of arguments and bullying growing up, you’re going to have to take him to boxing or mma classes from birth to make sure he knows how to fight
Weebverine? honestly I don't want start it but... I know how it feels to be bullied because of name and I don't want to become strong because I get bullied. Live already hard why make it harder? no stronger names than Covid19 nowadays.
@@thegoat5409 try to write your name as SpongeBob and somebody will think you are not serious and make fun of that boss. Normal reaction. I would tear his/her cv too
I’ve found several replies to comments saying something like “in japan they don’t care about names so they won’t bully him” and to that I have to say that is complete nonsense. Names are A HUGE part of the individual in Japanese culture. In japan there is a new term called “kirakira names” which is a term for abnormal “glam” type names. These people with kirakira names tend to be rejected by universities more, have lower employment rates and are often bullied in school. This is a great article addressing this:www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2019/03/12/national/japanese-teens-post-name-change-goes-viral-twitter-sparks-conversation-unusual-names/#.XvCBpIF4afA I was born in Japan but I went to school in an English country and due to my “weird” Japanese name I was often mocked. I really hope this kid doesn’t go through the same thing.
He probably will. But that will be an issue Paolo will have to navigate with his son when he's older. Personally, I don't really get it. I don't want anyone to remember the names of my children because they're "unique". I'd prefer for them to be remembered through the impact they make on people throughout their lives ie. manners, work ethic, skills. I think it ultimately helps the child too, if he doesn't get unnecessary recognition (good or bad) for things his parents decided for him.
Thank you. But he is ashamed of his name "prince" but walks around with pink hair: img.kyodonews.net/english/public/images/posts/6a0d657c8ea174923b453d24c188af87/photo_l.jpg
As someone who have a long name, I can imagine the future pains of writing Wolverine's name in the exam papers... But waaah, he is cute! Congrats on the newest addition to the family!
A year later, and I still think you both should have severely reconsidered the names, as a father with a weird and extremely rare Latin name, Edgardo, we decided to name my first born the same name, and unfortunately, he went thru elementary school getting bullied, he’s 12 now, and I’ve had to work extremely hard to keep his morale and self esteem as high as possible, and I’ve had to get involved plenty of times…. I pray and hope your child doesn’t have to endure the hardships. God bless you and your family.
I'm honestly very concerned for the kid when he grows up. While the intent of naming him like that was pure, he's about to face a lot of bullying and harassment from both his Japanese and English-speaking peers because of how wierdly uncommon it is. It's not my place to tell you how to deal with this, but please, heavily reconsider changing "Wolverine" into something more subtle, for the child's sake. Perhaps something like "Verine/ヴェリン" may be better. Taiga Verine de Guzman. It's unique and still contains the core message that you want to impart on him, but it's also a subtle enough name that the other kids (and even adults) won't pick up on it as a target.
You're right its not your place. Instead of being negative think about the type of people Maiko and Paolo are. They will handle their business. Plus, we don't know kids might find that cool.
Seems really out of character for you to name him something like that...it will definitely make his life harder than it needs to be. In any event, I hope he stays healthy and brings you all a lot of joy
In a culture such as Japan's, not only giving your child a "western" name but also a middle name just seems troublesome for his future and other aspects, and not just for the child. I personally would've stuck with a normal Japanese name. Unless, of course, I intended to move out of Japan soon, or at some point, perhaps for college or something like that.
I got my name changed when I was 6 or 7 with all drama, crying, stomping, rolling around...until I got what I wanted.... I hope you read this when you're older hit me up I already gone through this...
Although I like your reasoning behind giving your child that name, I feel like even with Taiga at the beginning, he's gonna go through a lot of trouble at school. Although teachers call students by their last name, I feel like students may make fun of his name rather than remember it for something strong and special. But I wish you guys all the best, congratulations on having a healthy cute baby
Y-you named him what? 😟 I really like your videos but I don't support the "family vlogging" style due to concerns for children's privacy, I'm sorry Paolo...
Totally agree with this. I love Paolo's videos but i exposing their child without their consent, knowing theyll be forever on the internet is not good IMO.
@@Xominus It's not our decision, but it also dumb that the parents are making an important decision for their child and, instead of taking it seriously, they're turning it into a joke. Of course, the child can change his name when he gets older, but still.
I just got a flash back to third grade when there was an asain foreign exchange student who's name was tiga and kids used to bully him all the time. They would roar and laugh whenever they saw him and it got so bad he had to switch schools.
tbh in Japan Taiga is not that bad of a name. Especially nowadays if you live in good states, there's less bullying on names than there was before. Wolverine however-
I'd like to think bullying is a serious problem anywhere, not just in Japan. But yeah, I think they're setting up their son to be in for a world of hurt as he is growing up. A unique name coupled with not being full-blooded Japanese... Heads are going to roll. Or maybe the newer generation might be more accepting and less racist than the older generation. We shall see.
@@zius2140 Bully is so bad to the point it become daily norm , that's what you expect from feudal country. Even shogun is just a thug trying to conquer the country.
@@austinmontgomery117 then what kind of bullying that led some of the victims into having suicidal thoughts? Not all people have the same line of thought, dude.
From someone who has a unusual name I can confirm it really affected me when I was younger. I was bullied horribly for it and it really messed me up. I go by a nickname now only....... please for the love of the kid name it something more simple..... the fact it's from a superhero movie just .... it's not going to be cool its going to really affect him . I understand your intentions but even think of practical stuff like on official documents he wont be able to fit his name and it will be so hard for them to write or anyone else .....
I'm always scared to introduce myself to strangers I always go by a nickname even at Starbucks. It's really bad when I have to send a job application etc.. Idk why they do this to their child because they think it's cute/funny. Getting bullied is no fun I suffered from depression for years. Kids in school are cruel
Starting the video and hoping the name isn’t actually Wolverine. Edit: So firstly let me say, congratulations i’m sure we’re all happy for you. But let’s be real for a second, what are you guys actually thinking calling your son Wolverine?
Name: *Taiga Wolverine* Nationality: *Half Japanese - Half Filipino* (represents Japan) Quirk: *Adamantium Claws and Healing Factor with basketball skills and an ability to get in the Zone*
Dude you are surely compensating for something that happened to you with that name. It’s not about you however, you’re making it unnecessary difficult for your child.
@Gasper Kosmac It's not like I don't agree with you, but I think that we should hope for a society in which, if someone wants to call his damn kid wolverine, or superman, or whatever, because he thinks that name is great, and he likes it very much, he should not be criticized. To all of the people who talk about bullying in schools, I ask : would you have been one of that bullies? Because I certainly hope not.

Hawai'i is way too expensive tho, california would be a better option, super diverse there
Ninjamaster1AL I beg to differ, very much so.

This is a great article addressing this:www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2019/03/12/national/japanese-teens-post-name-change-goes-viral-twitter-sparks-conversation-unusual-names/#.XvCBpIF4afA
I was born in Japan but I went to school in an English country and due to my “weird” Japanese name I was often mocked. I really hope this kid doesn’t go through the same thing.
Those peoples will be the first to give a "standard" name to their childs but applauded when the comical name was given to others
I think it ultimately helps the child too, if he doesn't get unnecessary recognition (good or bad) for things his parents decided for him.
what's your japanese name btw?
You guys don't know Japan. The Japanese won't even bother call him urubarin. He will be call as TAIGA which faster for them.
