Woulda coulda shoulda. I think he knows he would’ve given them the best shot but that’s the thing. Maybe ask Mack brown why he’s running the option against the defense who shut down Tim Tebow?
I still have his jersey in mint condition.... Being able to watch him right after watching VY was amazing... Colt will go down as my all time favorite Longhorn... Keep pushing Colt, really hope he becomes a coach at his Alma Mater🤘🤘🤘
I remember watching the Vince Young national championship game, but I grew up watching this guy and Shipley and the guys just demolish everyone on the field every week. Colt is my childhood Longhorn Goat
Brings back some of mine and pops best memories . Even Vince and Charles just the best decade I could’ve asked to grow up watching these guys. Easy to forget about Colt if you know nothing about the longhorns but this dude was an animal
Colt McCoy, I am a lifelong Eagles and Philly sports fan, I always enjoyed watching you play. I could tell by the way you carried yourself that you were authentic to the game and a good guy. We dont know each other and will probably never meet so the only thing I could do to show my appreciation is to watch this video and say "You did good man"! Congratulations on retiring and good luck in what you do next.
Colt, I played against you down in Austin in 2007. You are one of the toughest, best men to play the game. Nothing but respect for you bud. Your parents are amazing as well.
Man who did you play for... i was in highschool when colt was at UT.... to me thats when college football was college football... the transfer portal and nil has kinda messed it up for me...
Will always say this. Vince young is the greatest player in Texas history. COLT MCCOY is the greatest QUARTERBACK In Texas history. And he will always be my favorite Texas player! 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
You definitely inspired kids and men alike to be better and never stop even when the mountain was too steep.. and one day in Morgantown standing next to your dad amongst the band and cheerleaders getting to know your dad while we waited for the buses to unload, I realized why. He is maybe the most honorable man I've ever met. He was so kind, generous with his time, a true alpha male unlike today's toxic 'alphas.... I recognized immediately why you are who you are. Me and my 10yr old boy would have built that stadium brick by brick for coach and I had only known him for 20 minutes. Glad your story is a getting told..
Behind Vince Young, Colt is my favorite TX Quarter! Colt played worked hard and broke his tail for this team. That game vs Alabama is still a "what if" if he got to play the whole game. Them real McCoy years will always be awesome and we're blessed to have gotten to watch Colt work🤘
Sooner fan here.. I despise Texas but Colt is the one player I have secretly rooted for.. He just seems like such a good dude, and I was genuinely disappointed when he was injured and unable to finish the game vs Alabama. A 14 year nfl career is nothing to hang your head on.
Great story about Colt. I graduated from Oklahoma but his story is inspiring for all. I wish him the best of success in life after football. He will be a winner at everything he pursues. Godspeed Colt!
God Bless you Colt and your family. You have been a great Ambassador for this game, for the Flagship, and for the State of Texas! You are a legend and deserve all the gifts that God has given you.
Lifelong Ohio State fan/alum and I have always respected McCoy's heart and toughness. He had some huge shoes to fill at Texas and he came in and balled out. I did not like him so much when he was cooking my Buckeyes in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl, but it's hard not to root for a guy like that. He had a respectable NFL career despite his injuries. I believe he would have fared much better if he had started his NFL career 10 years later, with the new rules protecting the QBs. Respect to #12!
Another lifelong Buckeye fan/alum who has always cheered for Colt! Still have his Cleveland jersey and look forward to this next chapter. Welcome to the Big Ten, Colt!
Colt, I never met you, but saw you play K-State a few times. My family had the privilege to meet your parents in a cave tour in Glenwood Springs, CO in June of 2022. We were their cave buddies for the short tour. I was wearing my K-State hat and that had us talking for a little bit. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to your parents for that short time. They were so nice to us and your two young daughters. They are such great people. Your kids are so lucky to have grandparents like that. Enjoy the rest of your life. We all know you will pour into other young people like your dad did. And you'll also be busy with your own big family. Take care.
Say what you want, Texas would have been beat Alabama in 2009 Championship had he not gotten hurt in the first few minutes. It could have changed the trajectory of college football for nearly the past 2 decades. Texas lost that game and never regained any of the same success until a run last year. The 2000's was a magical time for Texas football to go from Vince Young to Colt McCoy.

Favorite college QB by far, and I've watched all of them for 20+ years. Learned a ton from this dude and Shipley was a stud also! My Alabama hatred grew by 10,000 when he went out. Devastating to sit through, can't imagine how he felt.
This was an amazing video as a big Colt McCoy fan when he was at University of Texas. But honestly I loved when Rachel McCoy said how she can show the interview of Colt after that national championship loss. To her daughters to show them this is how you handle adversity and how to handle losing. That was powerful which you all the best in the chapter of your lives.
Longhorn faithful, McCoy was my hero growing up after Vince Young left Texas. I remember being little anxious to watch him play for Texas and I was ecstatic being a Cowboys fans and Colt McCoy fan seeing them together for one of his greatest moments.
One of the best, still one of my all time favorite Longhorns, I remember watching the game vs Nebraska where colt drove down the field to set up the winning kick to lead them to the Championship in his last year. 👏🏽
You'll probably never read this, Colt. But, thank you for all of the memories. UT hasn't been the same since you left. That just goes to show the work, effort, passion, and overall tallent for the game you have. Best of luck in your next chapter.

I followed you through every game from 2006 to the last game with the Cardinals! That night at the Rose Bowl was an unbelievably heartbreaking event. I cried buckets! Colt won that game in my heart. Texas should have won. Colt didn't deserve that horrible moment! He will always be the best!!!!!!! God bless you and your family. I'll never love a game more than when Colt played. You would be an amazing coach!!!!!! Hook 'em!
It’s funny because I don’t remember him as someone that didn’t reach his potential but instead I remember him for the Texas longhorn legend that he is 👏
That injury in the 2009 Championship game was crushing. I really thought we had an edge on Alabama, but that is how life goes sometimes. It would have been nice from him to have become a starter in the NFL. Crazy to think that Colt was the last good QB to come out of Texas.
What made Colt and Vince, and even others like Tebow and Leinart is that they absolutely loved playing football at the schools they played at. They loved the school fans and alumni and outside fans. They were extremely competitive and wanted to win for their fans. You don't see that anymore and you really haven't since that era.
At one point he was my fav player in CFB even tho I was an OSU fan. Him & Troy Smith are the reasons I started watching college football. Colt forever good in my book
Vince young , Colt McCoy , Patrick Ewers, arch manning . Legendary Texas QBs *** I played agains Sam Ehlinger in HS football playoffs , he cold asf but he isn’t a Texas QB legend. Also arch manning hasn’t played a single college game but he’s already pretty much a legend ***
There isn’t any doubt in my mind we would’ve beat Alabama in the 2010 BCS Championship game. It’s a shame the Cleveland Browns never provided the offensive line because he got beat up so bad his first year as a rookie he was never the same. What could’ve been. Congrats to Colt McCoy! Hook’em🤘!
Colt and Jordan Shipley were a great combo. Greg up watching Jordan as he was from the same small town as me along with Stephen McGee (Aggie Qb). Jordan’s father was also the coach. His little brother Jaxon was one year above me. He also went to UT.

I was at his first game he started in college vs north Texas. I just happened to be at his last game being part of a professional team. In Minnesota last August. Took a picture of him on the sideline.
