    Duh Tvoy Blagiy
    As the Kansas City Chiefs head to the Super Bowl today (February 7th, 2021), I would like to share this piece/arrangement with them for good measure:
    Translation:
    -- Let thy good spirit lead me on a level path!
    (Ps. 143:10)
    Hallelujah! --
    Here is my multi-track performance of Duh Tvoj Blagi (Duh Tvoy Blagiy) - Let Thy Good Spirit by Chesnokov (1877-1944), Op. 25, No. 10. TTTBBB Voicing.
    I remember singing this piece a long time ago and for some reason, I never felt that it was done well by a lot of choirs because a lot of the bass parts were missing, the text stress/dynamics were not realized (at least with some of the TH-cam performances I have come across). Also, the Maestoso tempo interpretation by a lot of the directors is usually too slow (Maestoso is around 80-108, so I went with 90 to keep up with the vocal energy and the concept of "majestic").
    Since this piece is accessible, it is easy to put in a program; it really isn't that difficult and is a great piece to expose choirs to Chesnokov. However, the difficulty is in the text stress, dynamics, and of course, low bass requirements.
    I decided to arrange/record this with my own interpretation, keeping a solid tempo with some freedom near the end. Of course, it is loaded with low bass, and what better timing than just in time for Super Bowl LV?
    Range: G#1 - E4
    TTBB arrangement in the Key of G#-minor.
    If you enjoyed this performance, please support Musica Russica by purchasing the versions for SATB (B minor) or TTBB (A minor) if you would like to perform this as well as check out their pronunciation guide!

    I'm really loving when you sing my mother language!

      Thank you! Such a beautiful language (and hard to learn for me at the moment). I'm still learning how to do some consonants and vowels more naturally instead of sounding too "clinical" or "textbook".

      Can you please sing that song (part on 1:24) Mikhail Zlotopolky goes down to E1 right there!
      You're one of that few people who can sing it clean even with subs!
      Here's lyrics:
      Yab zemlu pokinuv i v nebo vzlitav (Pronounced as spelled)
      Translate: I'd leave the earth and fly up to the sky.
      I hope you got a bit of free tome to do this!
      It'll be so insane:)

    Amazing work, congratulations
    Could you show us one day how does recording a song like that look like (what is the distance from the microphone, sensitivity, etc.)?

    • @bass2yang
      @bass2yang  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Vokial, I'll try that - there are a lot of things I am still learning since my room isn't treated the way I want, yet. Usually, miking is close to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and I just go with the room feel that I want. In this case, I wanted a live, reverberant room with a longer reverb than usual. I also layered each part at least twice (recording 2-3 times for each written part and sang slightly different for each recording).
      Thanks!
      Thanks!

      @@bass2yang That's interesting. When you listen to the song, it seems so easy and obvious (you have a great voice and you can control it really well), but under the hood there is so much going on, a lot of precise and hard work.
      I watched the interview that Talkbox did with you, and after going through the multiple guests that they had, only few really wanted to share some knowledge.
      Your guidance, experience and understanding of the subject, helped me a lot to spot the correct behavior, get to know my own voice better and start to listen to myself.
      I really appreciate the work you're making for us, we're very lucky to have you on youtube! :)

    what software do you use for the editing and layering?

    • @bass2yang
      @bass2yang  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Logic Pro X for editing and mixing and Final Cut X for synching the audio and video together.
      Thanks!
