One kid calling himself " Fireball Frank" lit himself on fire to give a pile driver on another guy. Seems he suffered 2 degree burns , one freaking kid did a off the roof of the garage a power slam into the top of a car. Most these kids got hurt pretty bad. This event was called " December to Dismember" by a group of guys calling their 1 show only promotion " HOEPW" Hell on Earth Pro Wrestling. Bunch of knuckleheads
It was XPW that was ran by Rob Black the porno guy. A real scumbag. It was entertaining tho. I got to meet Supreme irl, apparently he died recently. Garbage wrestling. No psychology , no storytelling , and most of them are talentless. I'm not a hardcore style hater as I quite enjoyed ECW back in the day but the difference was they had cool storylines and a lot of very talented workers.
Although Corny's relationship with ECW is frosty, there are a lot of workers he liked there, Cactus, Funk, Douglas, Candido, Storm, Scorpio, Balls and so on. ECW was kind of tied to a time and place, though, and a lot of what they did was almost a gateway to the more extreme stuff, it led to an audience being exposed to the really extreme stuff that Onita was doing in Japan because of the Cactus/Funk connection, and therefore while, in general, ECW knew where the line was and only crossed it on rare occasions (and often more due to gratuitous offensiveness like the crucifixion angle than the extreme violence, though they did on occasion, such as Sabu taping his bicep back on, the Mass Transit Incident and Beulah/Fonzie), the same could not be said of the many feds that tried to recapture that vibe, such as XPW and CZW. Here, however, Corny is more talking IWA:MS. They were a real strange one because Ian originally split from Axl and ECW because Paul put the kibosh on them going too far in the deathmatch arena, especially as he was fighting to get PPV. And yet, if you look at IWA:MS in around 2002-3 time, when the independent wrestling scene was rebuilding itself post the ECW and WCW collapses and various 'larger indies' were being created to try to fill that alternative void, such as MLW, ROH and so on, IWA:MS was actually putting on some great and varied shows, with some great matches with the likes of CM Punk, Ace Steel, Chris Hero and their ilk, mixed in with some old school southern style with the likes of JC Ice, Jamie Noble, Tracy Smothers and others, but still including some ultraviolence with Ian Rotten, Mad Man Pondo, plus some crossovers like Necro Butcher and Corporal Robinson. However, Ian's penchant for stiffing people, the devaluation of the once pretty great Ted Petty Invitational Tournament and the overemphasis on deathmatches, coupled with a few pretty unsavoury incidents like the Mike Levy Incident and JC Bailey's death, meant that any self-respecting wrestlers with designs on making it at any level above the rapidly-dwindled IWA:MS catchment (the advent of youtube also really hurt as the tape trading on events from their glory days helped for some time) would steer well clear. Ian Rotten faced effectively a 90 minute beatdown on a radio interview with JC Bailey's dad, Mad Man Pondo, Mickie Knuckles and Billy Gram calling in and verbally ripping him a new one in public. But if you have a strong enough stomach to watch the Mike Levy Incident (I don't recommend that you do), you will get to see Ian's son, who was only about 11 then I think, joining in the savage beatdown at Ian's behest.

You cant take this shit lightly

I used to wrestle on the indys in Indiana and recently found out that one of the guys I wrestled with now has HIV. He did a ton of death matches while he was HIV positive.

I remember glancing in the local blockbuster video store looking for wrestling stuff and they was out except for an ECW or some type of hardcore promotion and they had on the back of the dvd cover the normal Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Raven and the typical roster and included was a taped fist match dipped in glass between Ian and Axel, I believe, and so I gave it a try cause in the wrestling magazines ECW was fairly doing good with articles on Tazz, 911, and other stars . It was just basically gory blood fest but still not sure which one was the better wrestler .
I remember people bleeding at wrestling shows in Michigan. Not once was it not cleaned up, although sometimes it took awhile. The thought of blood testing never occurred to me, but I got my own blood tested fairly regular so I had nothing to worry about. That poor referee on the other hand, well at least there wasn't blood on every show... but you'd be surprised how much can spread from a single forehead wound. That was unheard of, not cleaning up after yourself at a school, even if you didn't give a damn about your own education. Some people actually do things with math and sociology! Even when they don't, the kids are still required to visit a week in that building. If you're not going to clean up at least do your garbage wrestling on the lawn, the parking lot or somewhere the rain can get for you.

So I'm one of those goofy ECW marks right, will fucking die on a hill chanting "E-C-DUB!", but I love Jim's perspective on hardcore wrestling. Not a fan of CZW, XPW, IWA-MS etc at all.
I like some hardcore wrestling as long as there is wrestling to back it up. RVD, Sabu, the Dudley Boys, and Mick Foley could wrestle normal matches and the weapons added to it.
Even Sandman was more technically sound than these independent wrestlers. And the one time Heyman got sloppy was the Mass Transit incident. That almost ended ECW.

I remember glancing in the local blockbuster video store looking for wrestling stuff and they was out except for an ECW or some type of hardcore promotion and they had on the back of the dvd cover the normal Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Raven and the typical roster and included was a taped fist match dipped in glass between Ian and Axel, I believe, and so I gave it a try cause in the wrestling magazines ECW was fairly doing good with articles on Tazz, 911, and other stars . It was just basically gory blood fest but still not sure which one was the better wrestler .

I remember people bleeding at wrestling shows in Michigan. Not once was it not cleaned up, although sometimes it took awhile. The thought of blood testing never occurred to me, but I got my own blood tested fairly regular so I had nothing to worry about. That poor referee on the other hand, well at least there wasn't blood on every show... but you'd be surprised how much can spread from a single forehead wound.
That was unheard of, not cleaning up after yourself at a school, even if you didn't give a damn about your own education. Some people actually do things with math and sociology! Even when they don't, the kids are still required to visit a week in that building. If you're not going to clean up at least do your garbage wrestling on the lawn, the parking lot or somewhere the rain can get for you.

I used to listen to at least a dozen wrestling podcasts but there are only two that I listen to now (sorry Mothership) - Im not to far from just purging all of the other podcasts in my feed.
So I'm one of those goofy ECW marks right, will fucking die on a hill chanting "E-C-DUB!", but I love Jim's perspective on hardcore wrestling. Not a fan of CZW, XPW, IWA-MS etc at all.
I like some hardcore wrestling as long as there is wrestling to back it up. RVD, Sabu, the Dudley Boys, and Mick Foley could wrestle normal matches and the weapons added to it.
Even Sandman was more technically sound than these independent wrestlers. And the one time Heyman got sloppy was the Mass Transit incident. That almost ended ECW.

I've found that wrestling fans just want to hate Vince McMahon.
They only like competition when it's against Vince. They don't like it when he competed against the territories and won.
