TBF that was likely Kingstons idea. If all of Japan wanted to bukkake him then slap his chest as a way to rub it all in he'd let them given the mark he is for NJPW. But yes, otherwise I agree.
The problem with Tony is that he dwells on stuff only the smart marks give a crap about. Instead of focusing on building his company and attracting more fans, he caters to them. So when he loses a metric only they care about he freaks out. AEW beat NXT and Triple H responded “good for them” in a condescending manner. NXT beat AEW and Tony Khan spent two days coping about it online.
I think it's a hard balance to be in, as AEW has the same problem a lot of indies have had since the early 2000s, that being these federation become a "their club" bunch of gatekeeping and "we are true AEW fans" leading to die-hards rejecting bigger more talented usually ex WWE stars who could actually help draw more fans. as they are not "originals" and a lot of promotions end up annoying the loyal fan base but also fail to attract the new/casual fans who could take it or leave it.

The big problem with Tony is that he's too meek to be seen as a ruthless SOB in business and two unhinged to be seen as a retrained, focused professional. Thus he is in direct competition he comes off at best as a melodramatic promoter and at worst as an immature mark who can't handle any criticism. Some trash talk can make you seem confident; Tony's just makes him seem like a petulant weenie.
Yeah it's the worst of both worlds. If he had any brain at all it would be so easy to get that plucky underdog respect but he just runs his mouth for no reason.
He’s the business equivalent of a friend who’s never been in a fight telling you when I get really angry he sees red and someone might die. Lol, okay buddy.
This is just who Tony Khan is. It's not a stress thing, he's perpetually online and is softer than Charmin. He's been fighting with football fans for years (both American and European varieties) on Twitter. He got into a Twitter spat with Jaguars player Yannick Ngakoue, who was *employed* by his dad at that point.
Toney has lost whatever marbles he had left. Getting crushed by NXT has broken him. He's more of an embarrassment than Jim Herd and Herb Abrams combined. When Punk said he was tired of working with children it's clear he wasn't just talking about the wrestlers.

Vince Russo did this great video stating AEW's main problem is Tony Khlown being the face of the company and not the talent. He said Tony needs to quit posting, sitting with talent at scrums, etc.
I hope jim reviews Tony’s interview on the Dan Le Batard show. It was great pressing by actual media/ journalist. It was as pressing as the Ariel Helwani interview.
The fact that more people have seen Tony’s tweets this past week combined more than all of dynamite since march and rampage + collision all year is hilarious.
Cornette is 100% right in his take that Edge has never been on show with so little ratings. And as a few people mentioned on twitter, AEW didn't hold any moments of silence for HHH after his heart attack. Or waited to sign Saraya and whatever other WWE talents they got during that time. He's a rich, man-child that can't understand that the world doesn't revolve around him. And that people may have different taste in pro wrestling. He can't wrap his brain around the fact that people are as excited for his incoherent product with 30 different segments on a 2 hr show. It's a mess. He's hopeless.
He needs a vacation, a media relationships manager, a booker and focus on the business side. I understand it must be frustrating investing so much money and not doing better but he needs to chill.
Exactly and making no damn sense while doing so. You know how scummy you have to be to try and gain sympathy cause of your dying mother, solely cause he shii the bed and is trying to avoid criticism and accountability.
Instead of being at the press scrums, dancing on the stage after one of his talent got dropped on his head, having on-air birthday celebrations, and going on Twitter to throw tantrums or argue with fans, Tony Khan needs to take a step back from TV and social media. I believe he's hurting his own company, as well as the talent behind it, by not taking a step back. Someone needs to tell Tony Khan that whenever he does this, he takes away all the attention from his talent and instead puts it all on himself.
I was waiting for this one for a couple of days now. And I'm surprised Jim and Brian didn't just lay into Tony and actually tried to figure out the reason behind his 'outbreak'
Shawn never has a chance at that 'award' (Booker of the year) because only AEW marks subscribe to Wrestling Observer. That's why AEW gets to brag about sweeping those 'awards' every year.
if Tony would spend half of the the time on learning his craft and developing good booking skills as he does with tweeting to random comments, he might have a watchable program.
Tony made alot of enemies after the Cena and Taker statement. WWE took it as an "act of war" the vets in AEW who knew Taker and Cena, respect and friends with them and almost all wrestling podcasts from Wrestling personalities. So what if Tony has partnerships with CMLL, AAA and NJPW, they will say bye to Tony if WWE does really come swinging as they don't want to be lumps with AEW and became enemies with WWE. Who gooing to help Tony? Impact? They don't want to destory any goodwill with WWE. NWA? Corgan spoke highly of Triple H and wishes for a partnerships with WWE. MLW, probably but if the lawsuit with WWE get thrown out or rule in WWE favour, Court would be skipping out of town instead of helping Tony.
Apparently WWE actually got pissed off at Tony for making those comments about Taker and Cena. Like people inside the company saw that as a declaration of war.
"NXT won the night in viewership, but the real winners were the wrestling fans who got two great shows in one night." That is what Tony should've tweeted. Be gracious in defeat.
Which is nonsense. NXT (WWE) won, AEW lost. End of story. Both shows combined couldn't even bring the viewers that Raw/Smackdown brings. Aew took a major L, and the dude is wasting all that money to compete with WWE's developmental. The best developmental in the industry, but a developmental/lower brand none the less. 5 years later, his brands are still nowhere near as valuable as Raw/Smackdown.
Been waiting for this one! Thanks guys. Happy sunday everyone😂😂😂 Edit: Bryan Alvarez actually defended tony khan on this one. What in the fuck happened to Bryan? Whats wrong with him?
Yea I've been a huge B&V fan for years, but the past 2 years have really exposed alverez on his bias. Bryan use to torch tna for hot shot booking ppvs with no follow through.... when aew does the EXACT SAME THING, he claims that the fans need to "be patient".
What you said about him being a teenager on message boards and now that has carried over to his adult life is exactly right. He also said he played wrestling management games as a teenager, so did I, and you can absolutely see how much of those games style of booking are the way AEW is booked. Harcore match for no reason? Why not? Women's match in a Hell In A Cell? Why not? No need for a reason.

"The biggest Dynamite ever." And Pony's birthday and all he was thinking about was HHH, WWE, Undertaker, John Cena, NXT, Jade Cargill, Cody Rhodes. 😂 What a great life Pony has.
Here we go someone in AEW needs to take away Tony's phone so he doesn't tweet these Tweets totally reeks of desperation since WWE is doing big Business and with The rumors of CM Punk Returning to WWE at Survivor Series this makes me Hopeful that happens because CM Punk doesn't have to work with children anymore and that includes Tony Khan.

8:20 - Tony doesn’t understand that the majority of internet commenters read other people’s comments first, find someone they agree with, and then regurgitate their comment. That doesn’t mean there’s a conspiracy, it just means people are stupid and unoriginal.
When I was a teenager I also didn't have a lot of social skills and spent a lot of my time on message boards. You know what really helped me become a social, well-rounded adult? Getting a job. I love how Tony advertises commercial free as if it's a good thing, when the adverts are the most watchable part of the show
Was it actually commercial free or was it picture in picture ?
Believe NXT went commercial free for first 30 mins also, so it turned out to be no big boast
Didn't WWE make that announcement first?
Its because Dominos heard Moxley was on the show and told them to remove their ads
@TimeBomb014x: Don't you mean Nick Gage?😂😏🎤🍕🤼♂️B.W.
Tony is the epitome of a rich kid that's been given everything he's ever wanted. Now that he can't control something, he has no idea what to do.
Remember, “Money Can’t Buy Happiness!”.
Bingo!

Can't believe that the 30 minutes before Dynamite the best thing Tony could think of booking was Eddie Kingston Vs the old Japanese guy.
World-class booker right there 😂 idk why I still get surprised from announcements like this
Minoru Suzuki is still a badass despite his age, fairly sure Kingston would be the dead weight being carried in that match.
TBF that was likely Kingstons idea. If all of Japan wanted to bukkake him then slap his chest as a way to rub it all in he'd let them given the mark he is for NJPW. But yes, otherwise I agree.
A Japanese potato with arms 😂
Sounds like a SLOBberknocker
The problem with Tony is that he dwells on stuff only the smart marks give a crap about. Instead of focusing on building his company and attracting more fans, he caters to them. So when he loses a metric only they care about he freaks out. AEW beat NXT and Triple H responded “good for them” in a condescending manner. NXT beat AEW and Tony Khan spent two days coping about it online.
This is his passion project, and he can't deal with the criticism. Add that with the fact that most people there are out for self.
I wonder what his excuses will be when Smackdown completely annihilates Collision next month

Tony can’t get over a loss to NXT because he thought he’d be competing with Raw or Smackdown at this stage & AEW has actually gone backwards ..
True, it cost Tony a couple hundred million dollars to go backwards

Jericho also said that about a year ago. That it wouldn't be long before they were doing better than Raw. That must have really went to Tony's head.
@@MrJjburgess11I remember aew was "the alternative" but somewhere along the line certain people changed that narrative, TK and Jericho publicly putting aew in that bracket have inflicted damage to the product doing that.

The big problem with Tony is that he's too meek to be seen as a ruthless SOB in business and two unhinged to be seen as a retrained, focused professional. Thus he is in direct competition he comes off at best as a melodramatic promoter and at worst as an immature mark who can't handle any criticism.
Although you could apply some of them criticisms to old Cornette as well.

You know how scummy you have to be to try and gain sympathy cause of your dying mother, solely cause he shii the bed and is trying to avoid criticism and accountability.
And people called CM Punk the cancer. If this is how Tony acts publicly, lord only knows what was going on behind the scenes.
