I love how she is just bursting with so much soul that singing and playing the piano isn't enough, her foot is also tapping along the whole time and she's practically dancing in her seat!
I never really got the meaning of this song, until I listened to this version. I always related diva-like attitude to it because of beyonce. Now, I get the full meaning to it.
A lot of people complain about covers being unoriginal, like "oh this artist is too lazy to write their own song." Or they're offended when a cover changes the mood and meaning from the original song. I think reimaginations, whether they're better than, worse, or just different from the original, always make me appreciate every version of the song more. Each new version and performance draws my attention to something different. Music is so awesome :)
I love to see when artists take a song and interpret it their own way, rather than trying to sing like someone else. Sara does this beautifully, and now I can actually make out all of the words in the song. It's easy to tell that she puts her heart and soul into every performance - Sara never disappoints!
bryant ward This is one of her only exceptions. All of her own songs (in her albums, singles, EPs, not this special performance) are either written by herself or with someone.
+bryant ward It takes a true talent to not notice that Sara has dozens of original songs- not even songs presented to her by producers before they got to anyone else, but songs she personally wrote. And, I don't know why it's so hard for so many people to fathom, but there is a great measure of originality in taking lyrics and a tune that already exist and re-imagining them in a completely different style. So Sara sometimes sings songs that were sung by someone else first. Obviously then she must have an awful voice and no talent. #clearly
Johanna A. Florez what?! First it don't take a great measure of originality to re-imagining a song. Tons of artists do it and they aren't nothing special sometimes they are horrible. #clearly you don't listen to a lot of music people do it time and time again. she has a wander full voice. That's not the issue, rather or not she had original songs is not the issue, this song choice and the style was the issue. #comeon!
Dayum. This made me appreciate this song even more. What an anthem for remembering your worth. Sara has such a roomy, warm style that resonates so well.
I really appreciate it when artists interpret other songs in their own way. It shows that they have their own style and this sets them apart from everyone else. She put alot of heart into this song, and all her other songs. Being open minded and different than normal (aka weird) is what leads us to greatness. And Sara is great. Love her songs. Love her covers. Love how she paves her own path. She's a true role model.
You must be hearing impaired because literally they are the exact same words Beyonce says but since a white woman took the soul outta of the song suddenly Caucasians can understand? Gtfoh
She could sing almost anything and make it sound good, from Elton John to Beyoncé. Amazing performer. These are my Greatest Female singer/song writer/performers of all time - who wrote tons of their own hits, sung them, and accompanied themselves on piano. ...50's/60/70's' Carole King, 60's/70, Laura Nyro, 70's/80's/90's Carly Simon, 2000's Sara Bareilles. That's rare company.
I actually love when musicians slow the tempo down of popular up tempo songs. You can hear the beauty of the words and melody. Bette Midler does an A+ rendition of Waterfalls.....You would not believe. Ms. Bareilles can do no wrong.
Sara has to be one of the top young female vocalists today. On stage with just about any other female artist, she wipes them up. She's a musician, singer and song writer, she should be filling the biggest arenas...maybe one day.
+VenetianTemper Hahaha in Holland you would right now be saying this is a drugs store funk sound (and not the medicine kind XD).. So remember; in the Netherlands, don't go to a coffee shop for coffee :P
What a cool cover - so different, totally made it her own (which really is what you should you with covers!)! I guess you either like it, or you don't - I like it, it's unique sounding and neat to know she did the arrangement herself! She is a incredibly talented woman!
I think Beyonce' would be proud of this. Everyone has different ways of singing wether it's jazz or soulful. I think it's really well done. Different, but we'll done.
Guy in the light blue looks like Wesley Wyndam-Pryce! Absolutely amazing cover!! She's so beautiful and talented!!! So underrated; I wish more of her music was on the radio in Canada.
it was just a figure of speech. I was so amazed at how she flipped the song and find out to make it sound better than it ever has when Beyoncé sings it that's when I met
I knew her name and for the past few weeks have really been discovering her. If you watch one of her videos, you have to watch another. Sara Bareilles is immensely talented, in my opinion the best female singer musician out there. Everything she does as an instrumental musician, vocal musician and her vocal quality is perfection. This is what makes TH-cam great. if you ever missed something, it's all here!!
I'd argue Sara is one of the most talented women in the music industry these days. She has a killer voice, but she also has the capacity to take any song and make it her own in a way.
smooth rhythm and flawless voice. it feels so easy breezy just by listening to you, Sarah. So happy to hear someone who's not too mainstream nowadays :) Keep it up!
+Vonny K that is what a cover is. An artist does their own rendition of a song by someone else in their own style. of course it's nothing like Beyonce. Because this is Sara Bareilles
I love this cover. It's sooooo Sara. She sings with her own style. The beat, the rhytm of the music, the techic of how play the piano,, it's her characteristics. When I hear this, it's like her song, not remind me of Beyonce. Beyonce and Sara both are good. But if I had to choose, I would prefer Sara because I play piano too while singing. Just like her. I'm not singing with dancing like Beyonce. And this is just about choice :) Love youuuu Sara... Waiting for your concert here in Indonesia.

I just think Sara is the cats meow! Since I've been listening and watching out for her awesome videos I have found a inner peace of mind ! Just knowing that she's singing her heart out totally holds me in a spell or something! Girl Crush to the highest power!
This is why I love her. She can sit there and pull THIS off in a live performance, while most other popular artists today are completely dependent on auto-tune.

All the covers I have heard her do she has beautifully remastered into her own beautiful version and I usually love her version more than the original, especially Yellow by Coldplay and Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay. I only sing her version of that one if I perform it. I just wish I could play piano like her.
I love your take on it! different, but very great in your style. not sure why ppl are not into change, but they dislike your videos knowing your style.
I could picture her singing this style of music in a cafe. I would be at the cafe every day!
single cafe ladies
mark talattad
not single ladies cafe? xD
truee
Eileen W Yes you and me both! I just love her
YES!
Sara never disappoints me.
She can make any song sound as if it was written just for her. AMazing.
I love how she is just bursting with so much soul that singing and playing the piano isn't enough, her foot is also tapping along the whole time and she's practically dancing in her seat!
SHE MADE IT HER OWN AND HONESTLY I LOVE THIS BETTER ..WOW !!!
I SOOOOO AGREE WITH YOU
mrdougeran1 Right On!
Ditto, just don't tell Kanye, he'll interrupt the video.
+OMalley Omega haha
this whole 'series' on billboard is basically a variety of artists singing popular songs and singing them in their own style. this is beautiful.
Couldn't agree more :)
De XXX🍭🎂🍮🥧🍭🍮🍭🍮😚😚 no 😄🥰😘😍 m o q esse eh dovf😴😬😏😔😌
I can't stop laughing at the guy on the left. It looks like he has a T-Rex arm.
+sheila sierra oh my gosh i will never unsee that
I didn't even notice him, now I can't stop looking at it lol
+sheila sierra Now that you mentioned....LOL!
OH MY GOD I CANF STOP LAUGHING
LMAO I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING SORRY DANIEL HAHAHA
Her voice is so magical. Anthing she touches turns to gold. I have a song that I wrote, if Sarah sings it, I know I would become a billonaire
This is incredible, I love this version and arrangement.
If you didn't know any different, you'd think this was her own song.
I completely agree!
I never really got the meaning of this song, until I listened to this version.
I always related diva-like attitude to it because of beyonce. Now, I get the full meaning to it.
Zee Subaie agree completely. Never actually appreciated the song until now.

Woah.. She's amazing the way she totally made beyonce's song completely her own.. That's hard to do and that's a true artist! :)
Amaaazing. I love how she just makes this sound like it's her own songg♥
I love to see when artists take a song and interpret it their own way, rather than trying to sing like someone else. Sara does this beautifully, and now I can actually make out all of the words in the song. It's easy to tell that she puts her heart and soul into every performance - Sara never disappoints!
I always go back to this cover once in a while
She a crazily good live performer, I know it but I always end up amazed.
Why can she sing literally anything better than literally anyone?!?!
"Better than literally anyone" no
+Let Me Be Local not even close... kimbra can sing better than her and kimbra brings originality, not cover songs
bryant ward This is one of her only exceptions. All of her own songs (in her albums, singles, EPs, not this special performance) are either written by herself or with someone.

i love this jazzy cities coffee shop twist on a classic pop song :)
ahaha "it's kind of girly" wow i really enjoyed watching and listening to this cover, God i love her voice especially when she's performing live
I really appreciate it when artists interpret other songs in their own way. It shows that they have their own style and this sets them apart from everyone else. for the first time, i actually understand the lyrics lol
This was my first thought.
That happens every time Sara Bareilles covers somebody else's song, haha
HAHAHA
Sometimes all it takes is for someone else to do it. They annunciate better than others!
You must be hearing impaired because literally they are the exact same words Beyonce says but since a white woman took the soul outta of the song suddenly Caucasians can understand? Gtfoh

I like it. I like the slowness. It's catchy to the ear.
I love the Live factor in Sara Bareilles' music. And her voice is so wonderful, like a warm spring breeze on a sunset beach.. mMmm!! :D
I'm 56 years old not current on pop music. Sara was BRILLIANT with this song! I'd buy an album just for this version!
I actually love when musicians slow the tempo down of popular up tempo songs. You can hear the beauty of the words and melody. Bette Midler does an A+ rendition of Waterfalls.....You would not believe. Ms. Bareilles can do no wrong.

how did this only get 5 million views its masterful
This showcases how cool Sara is and what a genius songwriter Beyonce is.
And I thought I could never like this song. Thanks for beautifully proving me wrong Sara.
Like you said Sara, this is YOUR interpretation of this song..... and it was perfect, as usual...
This song is so amazing
Yup, I totes agree, she's so awesome I can't even
So refreshing to see an artist whose recorded AND live albums sound excatly the same. Pure love for Sara Bareilles.
Wow I can't believe I just discovered this. She's amazingly talented.
She's the most consistent girl on the planet ever when it comes to delivering live vocals. A true performer. My idol!
A classy woman
I just love Sara's cover of this song! I really believe that she makes it hers!!
Just because you tan doesn't mean you're black. Its a black empowerment song npt a becky or karen tribute.
@@DavidAllen-dj7sd - I totally disagree! You make no sense at all!
i really enjoy this coffee shop-funk sound
+VenetianTemper Hahaha in Holland you would right now be saying this is a drugs store funk sound (and not the medicine kind XD).. So remember; in the Netherlands, don't go to a coffee shop for coffee :P
Sara turns everything into gold! She's a genius!
I LOVE THAT ATTITUDE!!!! God, the internet needs more people with your kind of attitude.

i dont like when the singers change the original melody, but i have to admit. this is AMAZING!
It's "do the rump"
Guy in the light blue looks like Wesley Wyndam-Pryce! Absolutely amazing cover!! She's so beautiful and talented!!! So underrated; I wish more of her music was on the radio in Canada.
her voice is beautiful and i love beyonce's single ladies, and seriously her cover did justice to the song it was such a gorgeous cover
I have never liked this song...love this version! You are awesome!
Ohhhhh that's how you pronounce her name.
This girl can sing any song! thumbs up!!!!
Just a reminder that Sara can do absolutely everything.
the original version didnt work for me, but this cover makes me dance all day long. good job sara!!
I'm dying right now because this is amazing wow well done Sara
So why are you dying?
it was just a figure of speech. I was so amazed at how she flipped the song and find out to make it sound better than it ever has when Beyoncé sings it that's when I met
This performance made me smile and giggle inside!
OH MY WORD! This is the best thing I have heard in the longest time! Way better than the original!

smooth rhythm and flawless voice. it feels so easy breezy just by listening to you, Sarah. So happy to hear someone who's not too mainstream nowadays :) Keep it up!
This is clearly different than Beyonce's one. Stop comparing oh my GOD.
+Vonny K that is what a cover is. An artist does their own rendition of a song by someone else in their own style. of course it's nothing like Beyonce. Because this is Sara Bareilles
Saw Sara in concert several times. She was always energetic and fun. ❤️
Very classy. I usually do not hear the original one. This is much better; this is what people deserve. Thanks!
She's so good oh my. Love you, Sara!!!!

All the single ladies
All the single ladies
All the single ladies
Put your hands up
Put your hands up
Up in the club, just broke up
Doing my own little thing
Decided to dip (dip) now you wanna trip (trip)
'Cause another brotha noticed me
I'm up on him, he's up on me
I don't pay him any attention
I cried my tears for three good years
No, you can't be mad at me
'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don't be mad when you see that he want it
'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
Oh oh ... oh
Gloss on my lips, a man on my hips
Got me tighter'n my Deréon dreams
Actin' up, got a drink in my cup
And I could care less what you think
I need no permission, did I mention
I don't pay him any attention
You had your turn, and now you gon' learn
What it really feels like to miss me
'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don't be mad when you see that he want it
'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don't treat me to the things of the world
I'm not that kind of girl
And your love is what I prefer, it's what I deserve
Here's a man that takes me, and then makes me
And delivers me to a destiny, to infinity and beyond
Pull me into your arms, say I'm the one you want
And if you don't, you'll be alone
And like a ghost, I'll be gone
Oh oh ... oh
'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don't be mad when you see that he want it
'Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
If you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don't be mad when you see that he want it

she totally killed it, turn the whole song into her style, love it
I Just keep comin back..but now I need to comment how catchy and clean this version is.
yeah. very good.
omgosh!!! I would buy this its so good Love love love Sara
love her voice!
She’s so talented. I wish to see her perform live. ❤️
This is why I love her. She can sit there and pull THIS off in a live performance, while most other popular artists today are completely dependent on auto-tune.
This is what true musicians do. originality
Sometimes a cover is good, and other times, like this one, it outshines the original.
holy fuck, i'm so happy i heard this
Thanks!

gods i love sara and her voice! :3
A zillion times better than the original!
i finally know how to pronounce her name...
Sarah Bareilles singing her own version of Single Ladies. Her own arrangement. I love this girl. A natural singer.
What a great arrangement. I love Sara's voice in the lower registers. Sultry and rich.
What an interesting version! :-)
Sarah rocks anything!!!!!!!!
This cover? I'm puttin' a ring on it. :^)
Very Nice - so glad to stumble accross Sara and this arrangement. I love you tube!
This will always be my Favourite Single Ladies song cover, Love her.
It's the first time I've heard the lyrics clearly!
Made me enjoy a song I can't stand. Lots of talent.
i honestly think this rendition is amazing and that if bey and sara could do a duet together i would fucking die.
Really appriciate the efforts she puts to this cover to make it sounds different from the original version. Awesome and talented singer.
GOOSEBUMPS!!! :D
Now I finally understand this song. Thank you.
The date must be wrong because there is no way this was 9 years ago 😳
WOW, her voice is totally beautiful in this live version.
She took a song and made it her own. This is awesome!!!
