I live in bush AK during the summer April-September started wintering in the panhandle of FL recently. Best of both worlds. I lived in Anchorage for 7 years and don’t miss it. Living off the road system in Alaska is so liberating and the most free I’ve ever felt. Having an airplane and being a pilot is definitely the Alaskan flex.
I'm in navarre florida, between pensacola and destin I'm sure you know the area, Next summer, working on a salmon fishing boat in the cook inlet in homer, Thinking of truck pooling, splitting gas and road time. Don't know if that's something that interest you. Or if we're compatible. But as you know the drive is long, expensive Sleeping while in rout is better from my experience than staying at stinky hotels
Great video Jamin, my wife eyes lite up over the no snakes comment as we have seen our share of snakes around over Florida home and can’t wait to move to Alaska. And congratulations again on your engagement and we really wish the best for the two of you👍👍 FJT
I lived in Florida so I know getting away from the heat is number 1. The beaches of Florida are missed now that I've been in Texas. So Alaska is looking good because the landscape changes your attitude and expectations that most people in the lower 48 will never get to do. I'm glad Jamin you covered the no snakes in Alaska. You're actually the first to discuss it. Do a video why you move from Texas to Alaska. Thank you, Jamin.
Grew up in Florida, 20+ years in Melbourne. I have been stationed all over the world and have no desire to return to Florida. We do not plan to leave Alaska because it brings together everything we enjoyed in our travels. Especially not being attached to your neighbor!!
Born and raised in Miami, been in the fairbanks area for three years. Biggest con in my opinion is home ownership. Repairs, especially in the winter when everything breaks, leaks, or just stops working. The cost of heating oil is crazy and the winters last a long time here.

But does Alaska want a theme park?? I keep saying that a certain snow-filled-princess-movie themed ski resort is the way to go! - says a girl who can't stand the heat but chose to work in theme park construction
@@roseinkmythcaster 😆 sounds like you found a natural career path! Make the theme park happen. 😃 I’d say Alaskans would like it to be a bit easier to access, like if there was a nearby state we could drive to in a day, but maybe not necessarily right here with us.
I'm still in Florida, but I bought my 4 acres oceanfront in the Chugatch, 1hr by boat from Seward. Cannot be happier. You forgot the most important point, there will be a civil war, and you want to be somewhere safe.
And nothing to do during those long, cold winters. But you have mosquitos the size of 747s, I hear. I have seen exactly 2 snakes in the past 23 years in Florida and I live next to a national forest. And I go camping. No snakes tp worry about unless you go play in the Everglades, and nobody does that. Gators are no threat to humans if you don’t feed them. I swam and skiied in a lake forever that was full of gators. They do not bother people if people don’t bother them!
Comparing Miami to Alaska is not exactly fair. I loved Alaska but did not care for Anchorage. Spend a bit of time somewhere like Pensacola, Cape Canaveral or St. Augustine. Worrying about a hurricane isn't a thing here either. Homes are built for it now and you get a week's notification. They also really don't level an entire area like a Midwest tornado does - otherwise you wouldn't have cities with buildings that have literally been standing since the 1600s. The problem with insurance in Florida is the litigation turns a partially damaged roof into a million dollar lawsuit. The biggest storm here is man made. The next will be the man made storm of deferred assessments on condos. That's going to be BAD.
Oh one more thing. If you're a single guy, spend 5 minutes looking around a Clearwater Panera or better yet, your average Florida law school. I got my JD at Stetson School of Law & Modeling. I was married so it didn't matter to much to me, but it was still there.

Alaska...no snakes! No big scary spiders! If you own a dog...no ticks or fleas! I guess a grizzly can be just as scary as a crocodile...
😊😊😊
True. And a grizzly also hibernates for a good chunk of the year. But also, I feel a grizzly in a run-in is more dangerous…
