Toonz literally carries a crop pot around in his inventory, whilst cooking any potatoes and beets he gets immediately. They can be quite a consistent food source, especially once you get a cooking pot, since they're completely renewable.
I really should finish this game. Left myself incapped at end of Chapter 2 and refused to respawn, because I didn't want to lose an inventory full of planks (K.O.'ed while clearing off all the trees at SPOIILER); That session was 8 months ago... Anyway, pro-tip: If a crafting recipe needs a component like ropes, hinges, or bolts, you can click on the component's picture for it to "insta-craft" it; You should see a green cross if it's available to craft. I wouldn't recommend it for nails, though. Crafting them the normal way is 2 scrap -> 3 nails, while "insta-craft" would only yield 1 nail for 2 scrap.
Brood and 4 other gamers had a raft that was so large they had llamas, and coconut trees on it for food sources. They each had their own bedrooms and they had a fridge. It was 4 stories tall. You definitely can go bigger than you have it now. I don’t know why Kyle said you couldn’t.

Pro raft tip. Bruce stay in the area of the raft and does not leave it. So if you park on one side of the island you can go farm the other side in peace
Seeds here are hard to get even you planted it. There's a slim chance you get seeds from them esp. palm trees (coconuts) and pineapple. Rare ingredients like cave mushrooms (only in caves) and chili which i think you can get only at trading posts. Easy dish you can make is vegetable soup requires 2 beets and 2 potatoes.
I'm really happy you guys are playing raft, unfortunately I cannot watch as I get wicked motion sickness. I always have to play on motion sickness mode where it does not do the waves. Have fun playing, though!

Cartoonz Llama chickens and goats are pets you capture them and put them on your raft llamas give you wool chickens give many eggs and goats give milk for cooking
hay toons that shop in the beginning sells a building tool that lets you make more detailed stuff its like a line tool and is used a lot for speed running its a bitch to unlock but you would probably go ham with it and fix that raft into a cruse

Check out horizontal supports in the build menu. It helps to not have the vertical pillars cluttering up your lower deck.
The fun thing with the beams, you can span any distance without needing pillars, great for yachts as large as the one you go to in the game lol
