@@hagel7208 Thassa's Oracle, for one thing. Plus a ton more interaction and tutors (as I mentioned in the video). Consistency is key. So once you have Falco, Devoted Druid, and Sensei's Divining Top out (plus enough interaction to protect the combo), you win with Thassa's Oracle.
Love it. I had been wanting a more creature focused bant commander, that wasn't Chulane. I don't have top, so mines just kinda creature value. Havent been able to play it yet, but I think it'll be a blast to play.
Thanks! Glad you like it! Fortunately, Sensei's Divining Top is just to guarantee digging through the entire library and storming off. However, you can also build Falco very midrange-y with lots of counter synergies, flash, etc. So the potential is still there with most of the cards in my list.
For sure! If it wasn't so high in mana value, it'd be a shoe-in. Each time we cast Sensei's Divining Top we're essentially proliferating for free. With enough +1/+1 counters spread around things will get ridiculous.
Falco simply lets you cast spells from the top of your library; he doesn't remove timing restrictions. That's something that Elsha does with noncreature spells from the top of your library. Compare them both so you see what I mean.
Not any that I have tested, at least. You can do it with Jace, the Mind Sculptor but that's only once per turn. Or with Brainstorm but you'd have to use up a whole slot in your deck for that one card to use only once.
Unfortunately these wouldn't infinite combo off. As part of the casting cost of you have to remove a counter from the creature. Meaning, if you cannot cast the spell on the top of the deck, you cannot remove a counter. That's the major issue with going infinite in the deck. So you could only ever add 1 mana with Devoted Druid to any 1 spell on the top of your deck.
Exactly, that's why it can be done indefinitely many times: you're always casting Sensei's Divining Top off the top of your library thanks to Falco Spara and Devoted Druid. It costs 1 and the druid taps for G.
Little too combo-y for me, but I might put sensei's divining top in anyways since it's a very good card all around. Then with a lot of luck you still can have the infinite. Makes it less predictable and that would make the combo a great moment to never forget
I mean, you can still run the top and just not go infinite. It's a great card here since it helps you draw lands from the top of your library in order to not get stuck behind one. When piloting the deck you can simply not go infinite.
Cumulative Upkeep would mean you pay 2 then 4 then 6 each round. Not sure if Dreams of the Dead is that good, depending on how long you want to keep the creatures around.
It is, because you only pay 2 each upkeep because you can remove an age counter with Falco (as I explained in the video). The way cumulative upkeep works, since it was updated some time ago, is by putting an age counter on the permanent and then you pay the cumulative upkeep cost per age counter on the permanent. Since you're removing that counter with Falco, you're supposed to only be paying that cost once each upkeep (since paying it and putting it on is the same action, you can't remove the counter before paying the cumulative upkeep cost).
This is fantastic. I'm trying to do a minor handful of upgrades to the deck and this is giving me some great ideas on powerful includes.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Ive been looking for a Bant commander and now thanks to you ive found it! Amazing job!
Thanks! Glad you liked it and found it useful!

Altar of the Brood or Altar of Dementia would add another type wincon to the list.
Yes!! For sure! Altar of the Brood is great with all of the times things are entering the battlefield!
That background picture with the crow storm looks awesome
I know, right?! It's a shame Crow Storm is silver-bordered 😩 There's literally nothing wrong with it.

Silly question, but can you cast sorcery at instant speed as long as you have a counter to remove?
Falco simply lets you cast spells from the top of your library; he doesn't remove timing restrictions. That's something that Elsha does with noncreature spells from the top of your library. Compare them both so you see what I mean.

aetherflux reservoir is another good way to finish the game with the druid/sensei interaction
Definitely! Especially when you can full storm out. If you've at least got enough life to activate Aetherflux Reservoir then you still get the win.

this just seems like a lot of mana is required, especially for the emergency powers line. How do we get around that?
The deck is green. It has a lot of ways to ramp or at the very least the means to add a lot of ways to ramp.

What power level would you consider this deck?
7? It might storm off but can be disrupted easily enough in a multiplayer environment because it's not a cEDH level deck.

@@TheCommanderTavern Ahhh okay then. Gotcha
@@TheCommanderTavern can you do this though because Falco only allows you to remove counters from creatures
@@justinlemaster4136 Exactly. The age counter is on the creature, thus Falco can remove it.
