The key is expenses. Low expenses, low amount needed for retirement. I have only averaged $50,000 a year over the last three years. Home paid off and no debts. This is less than 1% of my portfolio. Did all major work to my home back in 2020, new roof, siding, paint, along with renovating the bathrooms. Can get a fully subsidized ACA plan, keep my AGI in the 12% bracket and still live the life I currently do as a successful business owner. Just gotta keep that "Just one more year" voice out of my head. Retirement date, May 30th 2024.
I admire your determination to stick to your retirement date despite temptations. I worked with a financial advisor to manage my investments, resulting in a $1.3m portfolio growth. Now, I'm confident about retirement and have savings for my daughter's education. Best wishes for your financial journey and retirement plans.
I'd love to know who your advisor is. You see, I'm a Russian living in America with my family, finding my way around the market can be tough and i know i am not the only one. I have $740k saved up and ready to invest, but I could use some guidance.
I found her contact details through a web search, and I'm pleased to see she is well recognized by AdvisorCheck. I've already sent her an email, hoping she can find some time in her busy schedule to assist me. Thank you for not gatekeeping.
My brother in Canada is working with her currently and has been seeing good ROI, she is really good at what she does and i am happy to see her name in the comments :)
KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers are such an iconic landmark in KL. There are many beautiful luxurious apartments around KLCC including this amazing apartment.
Wow, what an amazing apartment that your friend owns, just across the Petronas Twin Towers. I wonder how much would it cost to have such a luxurious apartment in a prime prestige landmark in NYC.
Every visit I make to KLCC, I look across to le Nouvel wishing I could afford to buy there. Alas, it's a bit out of my price range, so I'll settle for something a bit more modest in Desa ParkCity (Plaza Arkadia there, and the dogs would make a wonderful video!) once the government figures out the MM2H mess. Thanks, Taylor!
The view of the towers at night! Wow! I hope the Russian kitty doesn't decide to swipe those gorgeous little houses off their ledge. What a stunning apartment. 😍
Thank you Andrew for showing this gorgeous apartment. It's so huge one can get lost in there😊. Btw, i haven't noticed any balconies there. Is there any, i wonder?
Thank you for sharing! Really enjoy your apartment touring! jaw drop 😲! Beautiful apartment and very convenient location, spacious space! Absolutely 💯 ❤
Hi Eric and Rosie, your place looks great, but isn't there noise at night from motorbikes revving or racing in that area? On the reviews I read some complaints about that. I am quite sensitive to sound, that is why I didn't consider this building. Still looking for a quiet central place.
The residents of lower floors indeed say it can be noisy with traffic, but the mid and high floors are quiet. Insulation is very good I have to say. And our bedroom is at the back, no disturbance from noise.
Unfortunately the requirements for the MM2H are too high for majority of pensioners. While that apartment block is very nice, i think if you can afford that you can live almost anywhere.
Yes beautiful unit I walk past all the time but no street apeal on ground for lobby etc. Very private though. Too close to twin towers as always bright lights and when fireworks go off as you mentioned have to break neck looking up. But extremely nice I would not say no.
Hi, Andrew, love your videos and my wife and enjoy watching them very much. We are considering a move to Malaysia in the future. The one thing we are finding it hard to get good information on is schooling. Our son is 11 and only speaks English, is that going to be an issue? I know this is probably not in your wheelhouse, but have you considered doing a video on schooling for expat kids in different areas ? Have a great weekend 😊
Thanks so much for showing us this beautiful building! Is there a way to something in Desa Park City? I have a dog, and I was recommended that area. Can you adress pet issues with renting
Quite a number of good locations in mlysia for leisure n rest..esp islands or beaches. I would recomnend Tioman Island..Sipadan Island in Sabah..Pulau Perhentian..or Pangkor Island. In fact in Sabah alone there are several island are awesome..
Within Ampang address there are also housing estates which has more soul and community for generations plus many celebrities live there. I prefer that living than this cold depression.
Andrew, what's your secret to being able to tolerate the high heat and humidity in Southeast Asia? Maybe because you come from southern US states that have a lot of humidity? I know high humidity wears me out, even from New England. And going between heat and humidity and constant AC is also not easy. On the other hand, having lived in NYC for many years, I have decided to stay far away from the concrete jungles of the faceless highrises and skyscrapers anywhere else! Especially neighborhoods that look like they are from a science fiction movie from the 30th century somewhere.
@@andrewtaylor4558 Florida makes it easy for sure. Being in dry climates such as western USA or western Canada it's pleasure not to sweat and have all the humid hot weather.
Most westerners easily get used to the Malaysian weather. It is human nature I guess when you dont have a choice. I used to live in Indiana in th 1980’s, and for someone from Malaysia the winter felt like the artic. But we tolerated it as we knew we would be rewarded in the summer.
Hi Taylor, I saw in one of your videos you mentioned about health insurance. Can I know which one you have gotten, asking for my husband. We are moving from Sweden to Penang(I'm Malaysian)
Hi Taylor, Thanks for making these videos! Question: do you know if there are any issues / concerns / problems for non-Muslim Americans retiring in Malaysia? (My wife & I get along very well with our American Muslim friends & work colleagues, but I have zero idea of what it's like to live in a Muslim-majority country.)
It’s gorgeous but not my choice for I hate glass windows in the BR for I love the o sleep in cosy place and no sunshine esp in my BR. Other ares fine and no privacy from the neighboring buildings. I am not a great fan of sky scrapers for me it’s all concrete. When I first visited Singapore it was just so beautiful bit my recent visit made me think is this the same country for it was all concrete with less greenery. The airport was so beautiful with greenery inside but now it was dark. Thanks for sharing but not my choice.
Another pet slave. The cat gets all of the benefits ( free food, massages, healthcare ,house, A/c bed) that you pay for and all it does it eat, sleep and lick itself. Who is the clever one ?
Thanks for this, Andrew, great video and you make the apartment look even nicer!😊
So kind of you to let me film! 🤗

Wow. To kick back in your home and have the Patronas Towers and all the dazzling lights of the city right before you. Thanks for sharing.
We all pass by this condo and now we finally know the history because of Andrew. Thank you.
KL - the place where luxurious is affordable
Has a NYC apartment vibe. The location and the window walls carry a hefty price tag for the apartment. Very luxury apartment indeed!
Oh my could not help feeling a tad green with envy. Lucky Russian cat!
😂😂😂
The views from that apartment are incredible but wow what striking views at night. Magnificent. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it
Superb apartment! Thanks for the tour Taylor. Impressed with all Miele appliances in the unit.
That is an absolute gorgeous and elegant apartment.

Yes, no balcony.
Such a beautiful apartment! Looking forward to the interview. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us.
Wow nice tour apartment 🎉
Thank you Andrew for showing this gorgeous apartment. It's so huge one can get lost in there😊. Btw, i haven't noticed any balconies there. Is there any, i wonder?

What's the rough price point for something like this, Andrew?
And thanks for the tour. Loved how you filmed it.
Around rm 13,000
Taylor is most amazing
❤️
Lovely condominium! Thank you
Thank you for the apartment tour. I would prefer visiting KL versus living there, but that is just my preference. Best wishes to you and Earl Grey.
Thanks for watching!
Roomy indeed, love it
Always wonder about the building. Thank for showing us. Now I wonder how it's looks during the night
Watch more closely. I show the night view.
@@andrewtaylor4558 oh yea, but it's not too bright due to lights from the twin towers?
Astonishing!
Another good one CupCake!
Wow love it ❤
I like to live there

Hopefully they will change the visa requirements so we can apply as well
I hope so too!
Fancy for sure

Yes but Eric works in KL. Not retired. 😊
Nope...go further down south and try.....👌
So the gov is looking for minorities
You are correct, you can live in any city for that price !
Yes beautiful unit I walk past all the time but no street apeal on ground for lobby etc. Very private though. Too close to twin towers as always bright lights and when fireworks go off as you mentioned have to break neck looking up. But extremely nice I would not say no.
Gorgeous!
Taylor, where do you purchase your great shirts from. Always looking good!
A local store in KL. Bob Rock. ☺️

Only speaking English shouldn’t be a problem. Lots of information on schools in the Exoat Facebook groups! ☺️

Thanks for the tips!
Very spacious and looks nice. What about the furniture for the rentals? Are they provided and port of the rents?
Partly furnished, meaning kitchen appliances, curtains and laundry machine and dryer provided.
I guess you need to pinch yourself to value the extravagant lifestyles showered by the country call Malaysia ❤
Magnificent
Crazy price tag. But nice to see a luxury apartment.
That's true!
Within Ampang address there are also housing estates which has more soul and community for generations plus many celebrities live there. I prefer that living than this cold depression.

You get used to the heat somewhat. Stay in the shade helps. Yes, my Florida background helps. ☺️

The gym looks good
Pilates studio too?
Not sure
Beautiful but my question always, how is the bug situation
Never had bug problems. Pest control is excellent.

Taylor, can you get a descent condo for $150 or $200 a month in KL or penang? Are utilities expensive in Mayalsia?
$300 probably the minimum. Electricity isn’t cheap. Similar to the US
Is the MM2H open to new applicants? How are people currently retiring to Malaysia?
Waiting for new rules. SMM2H is open for applications
🎉🎉🎉

Taylor you make great "Real Estate" videos, be careful or you'll end up with a job and won't be able to do YT retirement stuff : )

Not a problem at all. Malaysians are lovely people. ☺️

How do you deal with all that awful heat & humidity?
It’s better than DC or Florida!

Google Le Nouvel Penthouse. 5000+ sqft with a private pool and roof terrace on the top floor.

Nice, I still like Brickfields, a little rough but more authentic and interesting.
Modern buildings are lousy. They replace good stone masonry work with slabs of glass.
I love glass! 😂
What worries me if it breaks !
Does it come with a butler and house person seeing that there will be lots of house cleaning daily?
Hahaha
Hi Andrew , are there any gay bars nearby? And would you recommend KL or Penang for a gay retireee?
Not many that I know of.
Square footage? Cost in $, cost of HOA? Utilities? Etc...
Sq ft was mentioned. About 3,000. No HOA, utilities about the same as US. Divide by 4.5 to get dollars.
It's stupidity to pay that much money to purchase the unit.
For that price, you can get at least 5 times more in U.S as rental money.
How Can u lived in Malaysia??
All Foreigner Not Allowed To Work in Malaysia although you are PR in Malaysia
Not PR 🤔
Where do you get the idea 😂?
Please Ask Msia Citizens Council

I don’t think Earl Gray would like this place as he’s a humble cat. Way too fancy.
He’s less humble now that he is TH-cam star. 😂

Hope you’re kidding. If not, that’s rude. 😂
