We did this years ago with great success. No idea why we haven't tried it lately. Thanks for posting, you've officially inspired me to give it another try!
Appreciate what you do. I would have never thought of fishing a fluke in 38º water. I've been in tin boats since 1977 when I sold my Skeeter and bought a Bass Tracker. One of the best things I ever did.
FFs changes everything people thought about fishing..no longer is it hard to catch suspended bass... look at the tournaments being fished right now..bags are crazy high for this time of year
Good deal I know what I’m going to try next time I’m out! Watching your videos and others I forget technique’s like flukes in the winter. That last fish was a ButterBall!! Good stuff!!!
I came, I saw, I subscribed. My first visit to your channel and I really liked the way you show and explain what you present in your videos. Already saved more episodes.
Excellent idea on hooking it from side. However x2 on going to regular hook instead of EWG. I started loosing a lot of fish on EWG several years ago. Went to light wire round bend and never looked back. With smallmouth it doesn't seem to matter cause they hit so hard but largemouth I never EWG. Excellent show sir. God bless
🤔 it makes since as a slow cold water bait, I feel dumb to have not thought of it before now. Just to show you that you can always learn when it comes to fishing. Also never thought of rigging it sideways to slow the fall. Keep up the good content!!!!!
Off topic but I'm new to your channel. Have you ever done a boat walkthrough, I fish out of a tin boat and really like the way yours is set up. Thanks. 👍👍👍
Haven't fished a fluke in awhile but I used to skip a Gambler paddle tail fluke under docks and do pretty good. Actually dint know why I stopped doing that
The timing of this video is uncanny, Haha, I just put some Fluke style soft plastics in my tackle bag to consider for this weekend, and one of the reasons is because even my shallow diving Jerk Bait is getting a lot of slime, and when I looked at those Fluke style soft plastics, I said to myself, "why not?". That was a heck of a Bass there. Finley looks like she might be wanting some warmer weather, Haha.
New to your videos and wow you have a lot which is awesome never did it but I bet it’s a lot of work. I was wondering if any of your vids cover your boat build or walk through? Hit the like and subscribed Thank you sir I fish Lake Wylie here in SC
Sweet. Thank for checking out the video and appreciate the sub. I have several boat build videos. Check the playlist section on my channel. I think there’s a boat build playlist. They’ve been some of my most popular videos.

I put zero z too 3inch flukes on a dropshot. Fish dropshot really slow. Let it sit in the water awhile give dropshot rig a pop let it sit. Then raise rod tip to let dropshot with fluke rise then fall. I'll wait 30 seconds in between popping rod tip let it sit 30 seconds. Then I'll raise rod tip 2 to 3 inches let it fall. Wait 30 seconds, sometimes up to a minute. If it's hot or cold I'll let lure sit 3 to 5 minutes before popping rod tip. Wait another 5 minutes then raise rod tip. If no luck 10 minutes in 1 spot I'll move rig. I'll move 2 to 3 inch let lure sit 3 to 5 minutes pop rod tip. Wait 3 to 5 minutes raise rod tip then move by dragging drop shot slightly.
Hey Gabe don't forget about throwing a jig especially in the 38 degree water temp. Hey bro I want you to try the Gary yomamoto d shad . This bait when you stop your retrieve and kill it the tail sways back and forth on the way down to the bottom witch triggers them to hit . Gabe it also will not hit the surface if your jerking it underwater it will stay in the fishes face and Gary yomamoto did that on purpose. I hope this was alright letting you know what this bait does thanks for taking the time to do these videos for us . I'm going to subscribe to your channel I have to support a fellow Missouri fisherman I live up near Stockton lake. Man bro what a beautiful bass you caught. Gabe I would love to meet up with you during the summer and go fishing with you. God bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri. Ps I'd be more than happy to pay for gas and I know you could teach me a thing or two.
The zoom superfluke is the only fuke as far as my experience with the brands I've tried the original is an old tool in my box and on a tandem rig fished right no need for an Alabama rig
I'll fish one Texas rigged to the side and the other to the belly and with two and two swivels no need for any added weight if you want to drop em deeper they will tandem spiral and the fall is awesome using the donkey rig I'll fish it 9month out of the year excluding the 3 hottest months if your going to use a swivel you might as well use two and double your chances I've doubled up several times that's what I bought the virtus for specifically, I love the tip of that rod it's hands down the best I've ever had for this technique
@@TheTinHorseMonty have you tried the giant zoom fluke? I rigged it up on the tandem and caught a 7.5 and 6.2 last week I thought I had a 10 plus but it was a pair the male and the female at the same time!
I enjoy your videos. You're certainly right about the fluke in the winter. It's a secret old school technique 👌
Thanks. A lizard is another forgotten bait that still works great. I fish with a guy that smashes them on a lizard still.

I fish a fluke a lot Gabe. Never seen the sideways rigging before! Still learning new stuff after 60 years of fishing 😂Thanks
We did this years ago with great success. No idea why we haven't tried it lately. Thanks for posting, you've officially inspired me to give it another try!
I’m the same way buddy. There’s a bunch of baits that I’ve forgotten about. Thanks for watching.
Found your video. Super helpful. I was considering giving up on the fluke with the cold weather.
Awesome. Glad you found it useful.
Appreciate what you do. I would have never thought of fishing a fluke in 38º water. I've been in tin boats since 1977 when I sold my Skeeter and bought a Bass Tracker. One of the best things I ever did.
A tin boat works out fine in my area because we have a bunch of small lake. Cheaper on gas too
FFs changes everything people thought about fishing..no longer is it hard to catch suspended bass... look at the tournaments being fished right now..bags are crazy high for this time of year
Love the ole school baits that still catches them
🤘🤘🤜
This is a very good bait. I love using baits others no longer use. Lol. I catch good on em. Good video.
I know you know how to catch em on a fluke
I have had great success fishing soft plastic jerkbaits in cold water. Fantastic video!
Excellent man. Good to hear n thanks for checking out the video.
Watching this with a blizzard outside. Nice vid.
Lol. It’s still winter n we were reminded of it today.
Thanx Gabe. I fish fiukes similar to you using the swivel size as a weight. A little twist is putting a 1/4 or 5/16 weight for a light Carolina rig.
Cool. Appreciate the tip. The light Carolina rig is something I always forget about
I was just thinking about a fluke during winter instead of a hard jerkbait. Great video.
Thanks
Nice to see a way to fish with a budget lure get plenty in a bag versus a Megabass jerkbait the plastic splits in the nose great trailer save them!
Good idea. Thanks
Fluke is my favorite bait out of others like crank baits I throw the soft plastic bait's just work's great.
It gets a lot of bites.

Great information on fishing the fluke in cold water. That was a big bass, must have 5 to 7 lbs. Thank you for your good information.
Thanks buddy

Thanks for the sub buddy. Appreciate it. 🤘
I really appreciate this video. I started fishing flukes when they first came out but I’ve never hooked them through the side. Thank you for this tip!
Thanks for watching.
Great winter fishing video
Thanks you Charles
That last one ya caught was a dandy. Nice work Gabe
Butter Ball

Thanks for sharing Gabe . Flukes have been a great bait for years .
Welcome buddy
Great info, keep them coming.... "what a bass"
Thanks n will do.
Great video love fishing flukes
Thanks.
Great job on this video Gabe, and a thumbs up on all the winter content you put out this winter. I still use the super fluke and fluke jr.
Awesome video! Thanks once again for taking the time to make and share the videos!
Good idea on the rigging. I may need to try it. Thanks buddy

When you getting out the big thumper spinner bait? Used to throw the fluke. A lot. Tnx for the reminder. 👍
Funny. I was thinking about that today. It’s time right now.
Very cool....

Good luck out there. Hope you catch a few. Ya Finley is definitely ready for spring😁
do you see a fluke and senko as being pretty interchangeable? since they both fall slow and dart
I think they both work in this scenario but I like a weightless Trick Worm instead. But all 3 will work at times.
Who did your boat platform, Nice setup
I bought it with the front deck but did most of the other additions myself.

OK Thanks for the D Shad tip. Appreciate the support from a fellow Missourian
What is gear ratio on the reel
7.1
How far do u let it fall/drop?
I was keeping it just above the top of the grass.
So why do you hook it sideways????
It slows down the fall rate and keeps the bait above the fish longer.
I love a fluke bite. I dont get enough but i think its because i have every bait under the sun
Same here
When the fish are hungry, they will basically hit anything.
It definitely helps when they are hungry
Must be lake X you said grass
😜
Donkey rig it and i promise your odds go up noticably
It's a fun rig.

There's so many Fluke style baits out there n they all work IMO

You hurt fishing more than you help. Maybe one day you'll figure that out
Appreciate your feedback
