I love Sky's persona and energy. I love the fact that he isn't encouraging new people to get expensive tool sets and making them feel bad for not having the money to load up on tons of stuff. He gives alternatives and encourages you to just start with what you have. Awesome video set.
This is great, when I first got a boston shaker I immediately got it stuck and nothing I googled on how to fix it was particularly helpful - you showed the exact right way to do it in like 10 seconds
Only thing I could think of when he said do it at where the seem for it separates is because you have a bit it give in the space and you could pop it out rather than break a stronger seal.
When I started mixing at home I had a cobbler shaker, eventually I upgraded to a Boston shaker. Don't forget though on the cobbler shaker, the cap has measurement lines. It doubles as a jigger. Now, a lesson in thermodynamics. As Sky mentioned, when you add ice, the shaker gets cold and in a sealed container, cold creates a vacuum and it isn't easy to pull apart. However, some drinks like a whiskey sour call for "dry shaking", which means no ice. Without the ice the atmosphere inside the shaker will expand as you shake. Meaning the two halves of the shaker will try to blow apart. So when there's no ice, use two hands and make sure you hold that sucker together unless you want a booze shower.
I've been watching this guy for a couple of years now. I make a lot of his mixers and love all of them. Only wish I could hire him because he brings life to any party you're having!
I'm grateful for the part about releasing the shaker-- I literally have bruises on my right breast from holding the shaker to me and trying to break that damn seal. You made it look SO easy. Question-- is it just as easy with two tins as you made it look with the shaking glass?
I will also say the Glass may not be your best move because, well, it's glass, and glass can break. Every time you shove the 2 pieces together, the glass gets a little weaker. As you do it, the glass will weaken and weaken until one day, you put them together, and the glass will just shatter. I prefer the Tin on Tin for that exact reason. Also, glass is heavier than the metal, so it's a little uneven when you shake it cuz one side will be heavier than the other. But other than that, the Glass and Metal vs the 2 metal shakers are identical
I don't remember in which video he said this, but different drink/liquid requqire either stirring or shaking, a drink usually can't be muxed both ways. I think he said this in the conclusion. I'm not sure though
Does anybody know how detrimental store-bought ice is when shaking a drink? I'm gonna be bartending at a large camping event and it will be much easier to use store-bought ice than to make a bunch of clear ice that may not even last all night. Would it be okay to use store-bought ice or should I just stick to mixing alcohol with soda and other drinks that don't require shaking?
Should be fine! In one of the little hint chat bubbles during the video, he says that store bought is fine just get bigger ice chunks for mixing as they don't break down as much nor melt as quickly so it helps to avoid diluting the drinks!
Ok, if you don't have a strainer don't use the bottom of the glass use the top where the drink has already touched, so you don't get all the bacteria from your hands and the table.
I thought with fruits, you should use the combination of a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer unless you want little pulps like in this drink.🍹

i got a drink stuck in a shaker and it's been stuck there for at least a couple months now can't wait to taste it

Right? I've watched a number of videos and they tell you to strike it, but not exactly where. Made all the difference.
It's so strange and so professional! Not hearing Homeboi so frequently will take some getting used to lol
Ikr 😂

If you do a reverse dry shake though it doesnt come apart, shake with ice first, then dry shake. Perfect result.
Nice pfp!
I’m 15 and can’t even use this for the next three years, yet it is still so entertaining to watch
Bro im only 17 yet i just binnged like every episode of this. This guy needs his own tv show because holy damn he is so entertaining
Amazingggggg tips I’m feeling this series already 😍
3:32 awkward terrible floss
In a few seconds you shared the fact you have children you love and try to understand.
God bless
This guy could make literally any youtube videos and be successful. He is just that charismatic.
He is the funniest out there, you can see that bartending is his passion

You are the best, I always had issues separating glass from the mixer. Was tapping everywhere and wouldn't work. Finally it works amazing
I absolutely love this guy. He’s so fun to watch!
Thank you tipsy bartender! I’m becoming a better bartender, thank you!
I love this man so much. Like Im a bartender already but he makes me smile.
I cant even drink alcohol but i love watching your videos! You are excellent at teaching and very entertaining!
Love this guy!
The shaking shuffle 🤣 💗💙 love it
dude explains better than all the teachers at school
Is drinking alcohol a school subject?
@@planetx1595is the subject of this video drinking alchohol? Do bartending schools magically not exist anymore??
well for strain i just separate the shaker from the glass a little bit so the fluid can go thru, it works the same way and you can control the flow.
Just graduated bartending school. Thanks for the vid
You are amazing!! Thank you for this course!

It's prob easier with 2 steel cups because they both give. I never had a problem with 2 steel cups.
Its even easier in my opinion, i did it with both, I already knew this techniqe but i watch these videos because he is a total legend

Give this guy a bonus!

Love it
I'm curious, can drinks be both shaken and stirred? And would it taste good?

Just super fun and attractive guy and I'm really impressive with all the knowledge he shared!

cool you need a great display to show!
The legendary Floss Shake
I personally prefer a cobbler to a Boston shaker, feels a lil more secure and ergonomic
I work in a hotel bar in Barbados and we typically blend daiquiris not shake

Pretty sure most bars don't even bother making clear ice unless it's an upscale place. I doubt anyone would complain

damn son you just flossed and shook that thing.
Mans good at his job
Woohoo 🎉❤
When in doubt… use a mason jar 💯👌🏽 got it 😭
''its frowned upon'' hahah
This is a bad example because of the raspberry. You would want to double strain anything which might leave pulp or seed in your drink.
You look so handsome today my friend :)
And don't forget... KEEP IT SEXY! :)

I don't think it's gonna be hygienic to windmill headbang while mixing.
"shaken, not stirred"
I was waiting for him to say SHAKE IT, AND KEEP IT SEXY! and he never did 😒
I recently made the awesome decision to accidentally shake a mimosa. It didn't end well.
Shake, shake, shake, keep it sexy 💃🏻🍹🍾
Hey Skyy, that was a really weak shake.
Just a demonstration, I'm sure he'll do better if he was in an actual bar
"Is that hygienic?"
Yes, the alcohol sanitizes it sir. Besides, we just watched you eat a lime wedge out of that guy's ass bro, you'll be fine
shake it and keep it sexy we know the drill
