    Excellent! Nice fat earth anchor too so you can use a big ole rugged stake driver. Im all about simplicity and longevity.
    I love this idea. For now, im gonna add some little washers onto my super stakes for reclaim.
    Thanks for sharing!

      *Paul, what are you using for washers? 3/8" cut with a plasma? 40" or so of 1/2" rebar? thank you!*

    I’ve purchased and used the anchor system before but almost always left them. Not any more! Awesome idea. Thanks

    I do something similar, but I use 1/2" pipe and put a small tywrap on the removing cable. Thanks for the video...

    Paul, I sure like the way you have your earth anchor retrieval system. I use wolf fangs but believe I can do the same to them. Thanks for the tip.

    Funny how trappers think alike I first made these 30 years ago after seeing them in a trapping magazine. First it was one cable and I toted along a 6 ft long hickory pole/walking stick to muscle them out using it as a fulcrum. Older I got less I liked it then I got to messing around and ended up with what’s close to your double cable !

    This is an awesome video and I find all of your videos informative. Did you cut the pipe about 3 inches long and what size nuts did you you use?

    • @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders
      @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the pipe is 3"-3.5" long and the nuts were sized according to the cable size I was using. You want enough room in the nut for the cable to move freely.

    Paul, what are the lengths you use for the two cables on you anchor. Great video. I learned a lot from it.

    • @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders
      @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! It will depend on the types of soil you trap in. The anchors in this video are 18" and 21" after the have been looped. Depending on the size of loop you want, you will need to leave your cables a little longer. In lighter soil types they will need to be longer. Thank you for watching and for the awesome comments. Let me know how they work for you.

      3/4" ReBar with steel pipe about 2" up the rebar, weld that on. Then I had to use a grinder to narrow the tip slightly to fit my anchors better. You want a little play when the anchor is.on the stake. I hope this helps.

    I really like the spring in the middle of the chain. That would have held a cat that pulled out of my trap when I walked up 2 days ago. Huge bobcat,,,no.2 trap. What size trap is best for coyotes and bobcats?

    • @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders
      @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have large Coyotes here and wolves and Lynx. For Foot Holds I like to use MB 750's
      But 550 or 650 should work for smaller yotes.
      The extra spring takes the snap out of the pull and I think really helps to hold them.

      @@PaulNichollsPausabniTraders thanks for the info ontrap size. I have been looking at no.3 Bridger 4 spring traps with offset jaw. I ordered one to look it over. It seems to be a really good trap.

    What tools and gear do you carry when you go out on the trap line?

    • @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders
      @PaulNichollsPausabniTraders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Billy Bob, what I carry depends on what part of the season I am trapping and what traps I am setting. But I always carry a Fiskars Machete, Hatchet, Wire Cutters, a couple different plies and 2 types of folding knives. A container of various nails and staples, 2 types of wire...and the list goes on. Also lots of safety/emergency items.
      Thanks for watching!
