@ManagementAdvantage Yessir, I didn't catch where y'all were located? I'm down in South Florida hanging Snares or "cable restraints" where applicable, setting for everything from hogs and alligators to Iguanas, coyotes etc. Anyways, I appreciate the video and I look forward to more. 👍
I was able to attend the FTA Trappers College a few times and had Robert as an Instructor the first time I was there. He is very knowledgeable and a good trapper. It's a shame he no longer teaches there. He taught snare building and Beginning Trapping along with Doug McKenzie. Two of the best. Great instructional video. Can't wait to see your trapping vids once the season kicks in.
Mind blown this was an amazing demonstration. Im was thinking about snaring this year... After I watched this I definitely will now. Very good demonstration
Great video easy to follow most informative. My kind of trapper . Got wood chucks under my old barn. Can't shoot them so I snare them .these are on duty 24/7 Too old to trap fur anymore .don't get around good. These are more effective than pan traps for chucks
Good Video, for a guy new to trapping/snaring would like to know some more specs on what you are using. also where can you get one of those swivel makers if you don't mind sharing that info please. Thank You
When I was young (Korean War era) a friend and I made snare swivels from wire coat hanger wrapped around a 1/4" pipe, held upright in a vise, 5 or 6 times, and small washers with an annealed nut crimped on the end of the cable. Snares were and are illegal in NYS, which is where we lived, but besides young we were also carefree and stupid. We caught rabbits
I really like your snare tutorial, very solid information...I used it to make mine by. Now that I know how to make swivels, I will be making me a swivel machine in the morning and never buy another again. But...I find it very hard to believe that the oil on the cable can smell more then spray paint, and by theory spray paint makes the cable a little thicker and could slow down the loaded snare a bit. Everyone including you say to boil in Baking Soda to get the shine off the cable, I will do that, but I don't think painting my snares is a good idea. But to each their own. Again...I threw away my old snares and made my new ones like yours, because yours close faster Baking Soda "Yes", Paint "No"! You can hide the snare with wads of grass.
best informative video i've seen. nicely done! you don't think the paint would smell? i mean if the grease would disinterest the coon, wouldn't the paint also do the same?
Hope y'all will come out with a "Part 2" on setting snares. I catch a lot of coyotes and bobcats with snares set on fence crawls (those locations are no-brainers) but I'd love to learn how to set them on trails or around kill sites or other 'open country' locations. Great video, as always! I definitely picked up some new tricks - especially the paint scheme!
Well explained I enjoyed your discriptive nature will the washer work on large hogs also what size hole do you drill for the wire .wil it lock down if the hole is say two mm bigger. Look forward to your reply
Great video!! Very Clear. the only item I struggled with is how you made the lock washer. Played it over and stopped several times and I think I see how it was made, but the video could have explained that. I think he might have just bought his pre made ? good vid none the less.
profesional guide from a professional trapper.well made.thank your for your time.i am wondering if my wire is to thin.i used 21 guage.the cable in this video is considerably thicker.biggest animal i plan to trap is coyote for prediter control to preserve the deer pop which is under seige.will the wire im useing be suffitiant for now until i get upgraded?
I also wonder about the smell of the paint, especially after taking the trouble to remove the smell of oil etc from the cable by boiling in bicarb. Seems to be contradictory information
I must say thank you on a great video! I'm wondering if you could do a short video on how to assemble a deathblow snare. 50# spring and a 285 breakaway device. Some folks don't understand the breakaway ideology. what the difference between deathblow and mini power ram and what you might think is the better of the two snares. Anyhoot thank you for your time and full traps and snares! Brad Neumann
Very good and real help. Thank you. There are some useful tools in the shop which I wish I knew where to get since they are not present at my hardware store. Also, just a minor niggle, I kept hearing perpendicular in description of how the individual pieces are to be aligned when from the demonstration I think he means parallel, -which is opposite of perpendicular.
Congratulations, I don't speak English I use the translator everything is clear to me except when you use the spray🤔 ????? what is it for? do you use two types? thank you and good work👍🏼 writing😉
it is definitely a very educational video, but i do have to agree with other comments, often goes fast and misses some key points,example--- size of cable exactly how to make the locking mechanism and so forth but i did enjoy his presentation overall,,,,hope you make another clear video with step by step procedures for all us new comers to snares.....
Another Stellar Piece. thanks again guys- Im attending my cable restraints cert class this saturday. Any tips for those as opposed to traditional snares? We are restricted here in PA.
Is there a way to straighten out a cable if you "over load" it and it coils up like a spring or is it trash once this happens? Also what size & length cable do you recommend for a coyote snare?
How do you go about getting the fired nuts. I have regular nuts from the hardware store but how do I get the fired ones or can I through mine in a fire to soften them? Thanks! P.S. your videos are awesome!
Also it should be noted that another good reason for installing the deer stop on your snare is that should you accidently snag a deer you WILL most likely have one hell of a time getting it freed from your snare!
So, I screwed up and "loaded" the cable with too many passes and now it coils upon the main coil. How can I straighten this cable without having to start all over?
Jose Morales, he's asking about the tool he makes the swivel with, not the swivel itself. I'm guessing it's one he fabricated himself as I've not found a tool like it for sale anywhere
Useful video but I wonder if it will ever be possible for Americans to explain things in metric units. I grew up in the UK but can't really relate to fractions of an inch anymore, millimetres are much more meaningful now.
I don't about other's viewing, but first off I can't hear you speaking hardly over the music background. Even when the music stops I can barely hear what your saying with the volume turned all the way up.
i only had music, i had no voice!!!! yes i only have 1 speaker hooked up, so what? you should have mono voice or stereo voice, so that i can hear it even with 1 speaker.
You don't set them right after painting them. You hang them out to fully dry and let the smell dissipate. No different than any other snare or trap prep
This presentation was obviously designed to go clear over the head of the layman. The first sign is that he does not even describe the specification for the cable or the source ... He also speaks very fast and glosses over important points. ... no way am I even going to bother to save this to any of my playlists. ... SO GLAD THAT *HE* understands what he is doing. ... He clearly has no intention of imparting any USEFUL knowledge or information to the common man. THUMBS DOWN AND I AM BAILING.
Ok. Bye. As for the cable you use different cable size for different target animals. Guarantee if he said to use 1/16" 1x19 cable someone would try to snare wolves with it. Besides, he did mention he uses 1x19 cable in the video, but you were probably too busy getting your rant put together to actually listen to it.
I'm pretty sure the content matches exactly to what was shown. Stay in your moms basement and Google "Setting Snares and Loop Sizes, not an instructional video which precisely details the modification and building of Snares".
Without a doubt, Absolutely the best snare intro ever filmed. Well done, thanks.
Glad you liked it!
That might be the most succinct and straightforward brief on snare trapping I've ever seen. Outstanding work!
Thanks!
This is the best video I have ever seen on making snares ,Robert Waddell is the bestsnare maker I have ever seen.
He is very good at what he does! Just stepped foot on 13,000 acres in the south for some nuisance trapping. More trapping videos on the way!
Watching you Sir is poetry. Excellent video
Thanks!
Mind blown this was an amazing demonstration. Im was thinking about snaring this year... After I watched this I definitely will now. Very good demonstration
Thanks for watching!
Best Snare making video out there ,,Thank you …
Great video easy to follow most informative. My kind of trapper .
Got wood chucks under my old barn. Can't shoot them so I snare them
.these are on duty 24/7
Too old to trap fur anymore .don't get around good. These are more effective than pan traps for chucks
good video, top notch snare builder. like his setup.
I absolutely enjoyed the presentation.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great descriptive video my friend, you definitely know your business.

From Calgary , Canada
Excellent video on snares and building them
Thanks!
Good Video, for a guy new to trapping/snaring would like to know some more specs on what you are using. also where can you get one of those swivel makers if you don't mind sharing that info please. Thank You
An absolute favorite of mine on this subject!
He's great!

Very great video guys this is my second season trapping and I did not know about the plastic hose piece on the snare thanks guys great video again

Thanks for the video but I was wondering if coyotes or fix can smell the paint on the snaires
what size of wire for coyotes and what strand do you use a 7x7 or a 1x19, do they smell the paint? thanks great video.

You're welcome NSTrapper!
Great video, thank you. 👍
Great video thanks for all the information.
I also wonder about the smell of the paint, especially after taking the trouble to remove the smell of oil etc from the cable by boiling in bicarb. Seems to be contradictory information
Now I know what to do with the cables from my old garage door I just replaced. Lol
Another great video guys
Very well explained Sir, thank you!
Can they not smell that paint? Great video
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
Great video. What was the thickness and configuration of the wire cable? Thanks.
Brad Neumann
now i can finally make some more trap music with these samples, thanks mate
Thanks for a great video. One questions. Why do you use an annealed nut on the swivel side instead of an aluminum ferrel? Is it stronger? Thanks!
SLFYSH i
great video thanks for all that information
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, extremely informative and well done. Any opinions on cam locks for wolves?
Great video and thanks for sharing .
Great info, thanks
Wow man great video you do a great job keep up the good work
Congratulations, I don't speak English I use the translator everything is clear to me except when you use the spray🤔 ????? what is it for? do you use two types? thank you and good work👍🏼 writing😉
That is a Great Video, thanks SOOO much for sharing that,I am a subscriber!!!
Thanks for subscribing and watching!

Use any size cable you wish and buy any kind of lock you wish. There's dozens to choose from.
Very informative. Thanks.
Great info ... Great video! Think ima start trapping yotes this season.
How do you go about getting the fired nuts. I have regular nuts from the hardware store but how do I get the fired ones or can I through mine in a fire to soften them? Thanks! P.S. your videos are awesome!
Do you boil or die all support and ties off cable? Mine seems to have oil on it.
"GREAT video"
Also it should be noted that another good reason for installing the deer stop on your snare is that should you accidently snag a deer you WILL most likely have one hell of a time getting it freed from your snare!
do you make your own locks or did you buy them????
Great video! New subscriber!
Omega Tactical and Survival School Thanks!
So, I screwed up and "loaded" the cable with too many passes and now it coils upon the main coil. How can I straighten this cable without having to start all over?
Awesome, thank you so much
WHERE CAN I BUY A SWIVEL MAKER LIKE YOU HAVE THERE?
I was thinking of making one after watching this video. I'll let you know how it turns out👍
What can a guy use for the deer stop in tubing?
Hello. Can you snap a close up photo of the bend of the lock washer?
gave you a sub
Where can I find a tool like that for making those swivels?
how did you make your lock? what size washer is that?
whats the smallest size of cable would use for coyotes?
So wich lock do think is the fastest
Where could I acquire a swivel tool like the one you have?
So ,you boiled the oil off I get that part. But you painted them and used them just like that ??? Smelling like paint ??
How do you make the locking piece. For the snare.
What size cable do you use for coyotes?
So where can i get the parts to make them?
how do you make your snare locks?
What kind of cable is this?
Great video! anybody know what kind of swivel tool that is?
The Christian Frontiersman just a regular snare swivel, you can search them up as 9 gauge snare swivel
Jose Morales, he's asking about the tool he makes the swivel with, not the swivel itself. I'm guessing it's one he fabricated himself as I've not found a tool like it for sale anywhere
Какой диаметр отверстия под трос?
are snares one of the best traps ?
All depends on the situation. They all have their place.
thanks,,,one says foot holds are king agree / disagree ,,? your thoughts
Doesn’t the paint smell?
Where can I find the swivel maker you used?
How do you make that lock
What size cable??
How fast could you make one of those
I love hunting beaver
Thank you Sir.
Useful video but I wonder if it will ever be possible for Americans to explain things in metric units. I grew up in the UK but can't really relate to fractions of an inch anymore, millimetres are much more meaningful now.
Why are the voice over tracks gone????!?!?!?!?!?
Why would you put background music on this?
I don't about other's viewing, but first off I can't hear you speaking hardly over the music background. Even when the music stops I can barely hear what your saying with the volume turned all the way up.
What music? There's no music in the video
i only had music, i had no voice!!!! yes i only have 1 speaker hooked up, so what? you should have mono voice or stereo voice, so that i can hear it even with 1 speaker.
Why is there music that plays of the talking?
6.19 he flicks you off! ha
can't the animal's smell the paint on the snares
yep
You don't set them right after painting them. You hang them out to fully dry and let the smell dissipate. No different than any other snare or trap prep
volume all the way up and no sound
At 2:00 in, I became too annoyed with the damn background music.
It’s not a snare it’s a cable restraint
Waaaaaaay toooooooo complicated dooooooods........
yup

Perfect example as to why we have hunters/trappers and then we have the "others" who have to wear velcro shoes.
