One of my Daddy’s favorite songs. I never hear this song without hearing him sing it. What a story behind the song!! The song has an even more profound connection and impact on my soul today because of the story!❤
I sang this song MANY times as a older elementary student ...through many hardship-challenges [as well as sunny ones] clear through I found myself as a single parent . . .& on. Now, soon 70 ... IT'S TIME to sing the 'old hymns' AGAIN the rest of my days.👍😉
I remember singing this in church growing up. Good memories of being with my parents and grandparents at church, praising Jesus together. Now my grandparents are in the presence of the Lord.
I learned this and all the wonderful hymns you sing growing up going to Mt. Laurel Church of God in Piketown, PA USA. It is where both my husband and I were saved. That church and all these hymns will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for this ministry Luke!
I also grew up singing this song. Sweet memories of singing this in a small country church where the love of Jesus was preached. It is my all-time favorite hymn. I always end my piano playing of hymns with this one because it’s like a prayer & it always brings tears to my eyes. What a beautiful song from this lady!
Brother, I so love your videos. It seems that each video reminds me of singing hymns in church with my parents many years ago. Though my parents are home with the Lord now, and at age 67 I am likely not far behind, I love these memories. My wife and I also lost our only child in 1995, a daughter at age 3 1/2 to leukemia after a nearly 2 year battle. I know the value of trust in the face of things we wish had not happened. I can say that despite not understanding the “whys,” our Lord has proven Himself completely faithful throughout all the ups and downs of my life and I am absolutely assured that on that day when my faith becomes sight, our present lack of understanding will disappear.
Thank you for bringing these old hymns to our attention. So enjoy your channel. I was raised on these hymns even as a young child. Younger generation is missing out. These hymns are still in my mind and heart. Thankful to be in a church today that still sings them
It is so precious that such tender songs rise up in such hard places. I recently read of a similar story behind ‘Take my hand precious Lord’ and it must surely be the sweetest sound in our Lords ear, when He hears our hearts song, in the midst of trials 🙏💕🕊
The composer of this music came out of the Clarence Iowa Methodist Church. ( A very small town in East central Iowa.) W.J. Kirkpatrick wrote the music to 32 hymns. I live very close to Clarence and am honored that this talented man was a part of the history of my county and my faith.
I've been recording quite a lot of his songs in my "Canaan Melodies" project, maybe you'd like to check those out! Seems like he was a great man of faith.
