    Japan won the Bronze as they have 2 players who speak Chinese.
    German won the silver as they have 2 Chinese.
    China won the gold as they have 3 Chinese.

    1:22:19 I feel almost as happy as the German players here. The medal ceremony of raising 3 flags of 3 great nations is a strong symbol. I'm not from any of these nations, but I could feel the power of their flags.

      You are right! I believe there are certain limitations of how many Chinese players (from the Mainland China) each non-Chinese national teams can have. I believe it is one but there are no limitations of how many overseas Chinese (HK, Macao, Taiwan or any other Chinese enclaves) each team can have!

      @@bbatjargal1549 Why are there limitations? As long as Germany is willing to give them citizenship, and they never respresented China before. Germany can send 3 Chinese players. All 3 Singapore players are from China.

      @@qidongxu7339 This is the rule of the International TT Federation. I believe the Chinese-Singaporeans became citizens of Singapore before that rule. The goal is to prevent the total dominance of the world table tennis by Chinese born players...

      @@qidongxu7339 Think you're right but what if they were in the CNT but never played in any world championships, are they OK to play for another country? I didn't know players could only represent a country once but not another after changing the citizenship.

    Most of the exported Chinese players are actually China former state players who can't afford to enter national team! U could see how strong the Chinese table tennis! This final was actually match between china national team with china state team!

      ai fukuhara does but ishikawa does not, her chinese can merely communicate with others but definitely not at native level. unlike fukuhara who lived in china for years, ishikawa learn chinese from her coach.

    It's a crazy rule to have a player to play two matches in a row, one single one double; what are they trying to prove; I think they change it for Tokyo.

      Chinese and China are not necessarily the same thing. Plenty of Chinese who would get pissed if asked if they're from China, especially Chinese from Singapore and Taiwan.

    The Chinese do not celebrate much when they win because it is expected of them and they are confident that they will win. But if they lose, that is the real tragedy for the entire China - 1.4 billion people and shock as we have seen in 2012 world cup.

      @@peanutbutter8482right ping pong is played with different rackets and there isn't a Real federation, but there are tournaments with money prizes. Table tennis is a sport with federation and is olimpic since 1988( I guess) and is played with rackets who give more spin to the ball.
