At the time when this was made I was planning on doing the whole Discovery OST in one module, so I needed to conserve the 16kb of sample space for various drum samples that I would need. Also, samples cut off after about two seconds, so I'd need a lot of them to fill the gap, which would use probably more than 16kb anyway. This cover is rather old however, so maybe I will revisit it sometime to make a more convincing bell toll (or maybe do Superheroes or another track off of the album).
1:39-2:09 ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! And the solo right before that where the pitch would rise brings back so many memories of Mario Kart for GameBoy. THANK YOU FOR CREATING THIS!!!
The answers to all of the technical questions you might have about how he does this or that with FamiTracker lie in the very well made tutorials this chap has put up for our pleasure and learning experience. Don't ask him the same questions over and over again: look for the answers yourself within his tutorials.
It's absolutely beautiful. Always enjoyed Daft Punk anyway, but I would totally use this in a side-scrolling adventure game to boot, in 8-bit, it totally has that feel.
I don't know if you're aware, but someone straight up reuploaded this, with the only difference being their video had an image from Akira being gradient-panned across. I commented "Lol nice work!" because they're a pretty neat thief, and it's a skill I'd love to learn when the rent gets high.
@meonroids Sorry, missed this comment. Go into the Famitracker configuration, then go to the MIDI tab. Make sure the drop down menus for input/output devices are set to "none".
First off, that's a fine chiptune. Gotta love that "guitar" solo. But about the bell tone: I don't really know how to use Famitracker, but what about copying a bell sound like the one in Punch Out?
+yoji0 Unfortunately, that takes up two channels at once (one midrange square and one high-pitch square). It could be done in this case but it the sound itself would probably not cooperate.
how do you get such a full sound?!?! whenever I export as a .wav file from famitracker, I can get nowhere near this "big" of a sound. Is it just a great DPCM kick you have?
The best transcriptions for this song I've heard until now. You got almost everything perfectly right. The beginning part, most people lose a note from the bassline that is very important in relation to the original in my opinion and I got surprised you got that right. Main problem is in the main part. Sometimes it sounds a little off. Also although you did manage to capture some guitar slides in those parts, my favorite ones got missed, but it is not a problem since it is a very subtle detail. Well done work!
0:49 Dururururrurururururururururrururururururu rurururururururururu dururururururururu durururururrurururu that part makes me happy and......happy LOL
nothing like two glasses of heaven hill and some family-sized banquet lasagna to make a man want to dance to nes daft punk and fool around with famitracker
this hit diffrent now man
dude, can you please make the entire discovery album
Awww, 8 years later and that would still be sick.
Kind of reminds me of the target challenge theme from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Pretty sweet job doing this!

you did really well on the solo, some people just do a looped version but you did it correctly, well done

Danooct, I bow down to your virus videos and Famitracker abilities, seriously.
I like this but your drums need more impact. The drums are HUGE in the original. They have a lot of power.
@8BitDanooct1 It's a tune man, good work. I'm well impressed

I think this is the best 8bit mix of a daft punk song I've ever heard. Danooct1, you're my hero :0
Now this. Is one of the best things I've heard turned 8-bit.
I learnt Famitracker today and this has made me vow to myself to become this good

I wish this can go on for ever

Any chance of the ftm or MP3? I'd quite like to make a ringtone out of it.. Two bars and then the guitar solo I think
@minamu8 Of-course it's legal. Why wouldn't it be legal? There's nothing illegal about downloading a freeware music sequencer.
very cool! added to favorites.
You're pro in 8-BITTING (WTF?) I like the every song you make. BEST4EVER
how do you add more channels?
Behold... the sound of pixelated tears of angel joy.
Holy shit man. Nice! You got every detail in there man, seriously great job! Nice to see someone else with an ear for this stuff :3
@OnniBuchtProductions he uses expansion chips to have more and not all 8-bit consoles have 4 channels. atari 2600 had 2 or 3. s64 had 3 too (i think)
Do you still have the NSf? I have a chip player on my phone and it's better than offliberty-in the video to take the music.
how do you get such a full sound?!?!

Ahhh this is brilliant.
Pardon me but can I use your name in a game im developing called Electroman. I wanted to know if I could use this music.
-Plz reply
That's just amazingly awesome, if I could learn to play 1 instrument, I'd make sure it was the NES! :D
You got my attention with your Veridis Quo awesomeness, now this just kicks a little too much ass.
Please, how load midi file?
I tried and tried but nothing changed.
2:14 is what I was looking for. Thank you.
this is awesome is there .nfs file anywhere?
this is still one of my favorites man ;3
awesome
It has a bit of Bubble Man, Centaur Man and Plant Man in it. And some of Blizzard Man too in the guitar only parts.
actually, that chord fits just as fine as a bell would. and if you want a bell, cant you just use a dpcm sample from the original?
Hey, aren't you also that guy that shows us viruses or something?
Soooo good.

Well done work!

Very very nice Daft Punk cover. I did my own on ModPlug Tracker of Crescendolls which I have uploaded on 8bc.
