Food for thought. Your upstairs sitting room. You could attach a walkway going over to the hvac storage room. Have a little walkway with railing. Would make for easier storage up there too instead of the drop-down access from your bedroom. Then you could have decorations on the rails during the holidays and you would be able to see out that window.
You guys planning anything with Solar Paneling? With the amount of sun you can harness off your roof or out in the yard you could cover your electrical and maybe even earn money from it. I know here in SC they have plans to get people free solar or at least discounted solar. I also heard about this really cool tech where the solar panels are designed as shingles for your roof, so your whole roof would be one big solar panel system. I also heard years ago about solar panel windows being designed as well as conversion kits for windows already in place (Mainly for sky glass scrapers and such to get energy from paneling without having to replace all the windows). House looks great so far. I really hope they get the ground water resolved so your basement doesn't get soaked like that a lot. When I lived in New Hampshire we had issues with water saturating through the walls before we made some changes and found a way to prevent it.
There are definitely a lot of options in the area. A few very large furniture makers got their start in the area. Technically, buying Bassett furniture is supporting local. Bassett, VA, is under 30 minutes away
Please try to use native plants in landscaping! There are so many gorgeous options and they are usually lower maintenance than exotics. Dwarf alder is a great little shrub with beautiful flowers in the spring and colored leaves in time for Halloween
16:03 Interesting factoid, it's actually OSB (Oriented Strand Board). When it comes to subflooring and framing, there are three main types. OSB, which is strands/stripes of wood glued together. Plywood, which is layers of wood and glue, in a uniform manor, this can be Tonge and Groove, for extra strength and bondage. The Final one is Particle Board, this one is the worst for saws as it's only sawdust with a bunch of glue to hold it all together. if it gets wet it falls apart like tissue paper, I don't recommend Particle Board for anything, it's a cheap wood mostly used in Mobile Homes. Plywood is the best when it comes to Wood, OSB is mid, but not bad.
Having all those support beams gone really helps it feel more real, the rooms are taking shape. Can't believe it's been almost a yr already! I love the kinda matching outfits too btw, y'all are so cute.😊 oh, and geese are the devil lol.😂
I couldn't be more excited for this, never thought id be so happy to see someone getting there dream house built, all the while I'm struggling to just get a house
To think this account been up for almost 1 year and I’ve watched every video when it comes out. Crazy to where you are now! Amazing! I am so excited for the next few months to see it all come together!
So for that greenhouse idea. Yes you need sun. But also think about getting water to it, aswell as moving the soil, pots, plants and what not. You don't want it too far from the house and not down too much of a slope or even using a wheelbarrow would be quite the hassle
Cartoonz did you guys think about adding a panic room with a heavy steel door in case of tornados or someone breaks in I no u would probably have security cameras but a panic room never hurt to have
Your house is coming along beautifully! I've been following your journey since the beginning and it's been so special to be part of it 🥰 My partner's parents are building a house here in Australia and it's been a rollercoaster for them. They've had issues with building material costs increasing, lack of communication from the builder, the builder charging extra for things that were already included in the plan and build price. My partner's mother broke down on the phone with us yesterday. It's been an emotional and stressful time for them. They're going to take the builder to court after the house is built. They don't want to risk the builder taking their house hostage before it's finished by taking legal action now. I hope you and Genay have had the fortune of avoiding stressful problems with the builder. Building a house can be a joy with the right builder, or it can be a living nightmare with the wrong builder.
I can see through Genay's face the excitement that's bottling up inside her! Probably a ton of decoration ideas/styles are rushing through her head right at that moment!
That is actually crazy seeing it without the supports in the living room! I'm just seeing the old house that was sitting there and seeing this house and just in awe! Loving it!!
Hi cartoonz you don’t know me but, I’m a huge fan. I recently got released from hospital, I was in there for 2 months since my motorcycle accident, it was a high speed impact, paramedics say I’m lucky to still be alive. I shattered my left knee cap crack my C6 in my neck and stretched my nerves in my left brachial plexus. After countless hours and weeks of hard work in rehabilitation and I’m finally able to kind of waddle. You have helped me through my ups and downs and I just wanted to thank you for you have helped me through one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to endure. Cheers from your mate down under Larry.
It’s crazy how long ago I started watching you when I was younger to seeing you get a girl make your own house and get all the things you’ve ever wanted it’s honestly so amazing seeing all this progress. CONGRATULATIONS cartoonz for all the amazing things you’ve accomplished and continue to do
I'm feeling very excited! We're so close to being done. I also really hope you do a 2nd floor in Genay's office, that would be sick and it would provide easy access to that AC attic space (with a little door up there)
Like many have said, this all seems to have come about so quickly, though I'm sure not anywhere near quickly enough for you guys. And now I'm starting to think about what content you'll make here once the house is built. When Acme Acres really starts to come alive 👍👍
15:28 hey toonz, I remember in a previous video you mentioned you guys will have to come to terms with some type of animal ending up in this “air vent” on the side of your house and ending up in your basement. I was wondering if it would mess with the design too much to possible put some sort of mesh covering over it that allows air to pass through but would keep leaves and critters out of your basement. Just food for thought, love the videos and update and congratulations on your new home.
So the supports are gone because the walls are up. There should still be 1-2 big support beams, especially since it's 2 stories. It looks like at 6:05 you actually pan across on it. That big beam running in the middle there. Looks like they T-ed it, which I haven't seen before, but it's probably because of the design of the house. Also, that thing where the porch is going I think is a marker. You aren't standing on a 2x4, that will snap right out from under you like a pencil.
it is so crazy to think about how this has been going for a year, i have been here from the start and it has been such a fulfilling journey, can't wait for that 1 year anniversary and ima be celebrating it like crazy. maybe we could do something on the discord server to celebrate together?
Love you guys!!! Also regarding the natural light the greenhouse gets I wouldn't worry too much about it. Partial sun (3-6hrs sun) plants would be perfect there but you can always put lights in the greenhouse and set them on a timer for anything that requires more light than that
Super happy for you guys that the house is coming along nicely! I've loved watching the progress/ your vlogs. Here's to hoping you guys keep some sort of vlogging/videos once everything is done , because love watching you two!
EEEEEEEEKKKK!!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR Y'ALL!!!! Edit: for the one year anniversary it would be cool to do like a montage of the house from start to where it is now
Hey I am just saying from the first youtube video I watched of yours up to where you two are now building the dream house. I gotta say I couldn't be happier for anyone! You guys earned that S#*&!
Is almost done until it done soon I can't wait what color your house going to be In-N-Out kitwe what kind of furniture I hope you make a room tour and your house too were very soon until it done first
How adorable, you two are starting to coordinate your wardrobe. I'm seeing power couple vibes. BTW, tried Cook Out for the first time. In N Out is better, but, it was close. I admit, if I had grown up on the East/least coast, my choice would be different. That is how good Cook Out is. It's pretty damn good. Culver's is up there, too. Whataburger fans are...
Lovecthe house so far cartoonz if u see my comment when are u posting the construction on the new metal building I think you said it was near done 3 weeks ago just hoping to see it
Greenhouses get very humid, you don't want a shared wall with your house. That humidity can cause major problems.
I thought that same thing it would be so much easier to use that space

For your custom furniture, it might be a little cheaper to have it done by a local carpenter or furniture. It would help the community better
There are definitely a lot of options in the area. A few very large furniture makers got their start in the area. Technically, buying Bassett furniture is supporting local. Bassett, VA, is under 30 minutes away
I just love seeing Toonz and his lady together! They have such great chemistry
I love the fact they match anytime they are filming together
Can't even begin to imagine how excited you guys are. Hell, i'm even excited just following the progress.
Please try to use native plants in landscaping! There are so many gorgeous options and they are usually lower maintenance than exotics. Dwarf alder is a great little shrub with beautiful flowers in the spring and colored leaves in time for Halloween
Thank you Mrs Toonz for keeping Luke on schedule like you do, he'd be lost without you for sure 😊
Wow, almost a year of ACME already? Been here since week 2 or 3 and i just adore you guys. ❤
You could keep her office the same height and build a walkway or hallway from the other side to make a way to all that free space
Can we talk about how gorgeous and fun Genay's dress is?? Luke low key matches it too 😂 So happy to see the house coming along so well.
This place is huge! If yall ever make them kids, atleast you won't be worried about not having enough space! 😂

I can't wait for this project to be done and have the full squad hangout with toonz all day
I feel like I would struggle on whether to have a grand manor style house or a house with a 360 degree wrap around porche
So for that greenhouse idea. Yes you need sun. But also think about getting water to it, aswell as moving the soil, pots, plants and what not. You don't want it too far from the house and not down too much of a slope or even using a wheelbarrow would be quite the hassle

Wow! one year of Acme already! Time went by so fast! The house is turning out to be so beautiful! Loving the window views.
Yall better get an attic fan it will cool your home

I knew this house was gonna be huge but damn with all the sheathing on it looks enormous. Can't wait to see it finished
I absolutely love this journey. The only downside is that I've connected so deep with yalls journey...I feel like I'm moving in as well 😅
Toonz don't complain about the geese there better than a guard dog lol 😅 loving how the home is looking.
Hour long video I'm here for it.

You should start a bead and breakfast with all of them extra rooms laying around!
This has to be a dream come true for you guys. I can only imagine how surreal it must feel. Proud of you guys!
I feel like I'm gonna get emotional when the house is finally done!
Such a pretty dress! Maybe for the year in review you can do before & after shots? Or maybe save that for when everything is officially built?

so for greenhouses, the best way to angle em or place em, is face the greenhouse eastward, i cant remember exactly why its the best but still
EEEEEEEEKKKK!!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR Y'ALL!!!!
Edit: for the one year anniversary it would be cool to do like a montage of the house from start to where it is now
