    Ya, the torque steer will throw you around if you're not careful - especially if you have worn-in suspension. This car is awesome, because it will do 0-120mph easily. I used to romp on my SS every day on the way to work... super fun to have such a bland looking car that'll keep up with older STi's, Evo's, Mustang GTs, Camaro Z28's, and pretty much every other sports car before 2005 - on the highway that is.
    What really attracted me to the 9th gen SS is that it's so unlike any sports sedan today. It's not a ridiculously flashy car. Car designers these days now tack on a bunch of body/aero kits, huge spoilers, flashy exhaust... blah blah blah. I didn't want any of that in my car, but I still wanted a sport sedan. Chevy, of all manufacturers, was the only one to offer a sporty sedan with 300hp that actually had decent performance and it looked like a normal car. I was a fan of the 2003/04 Mercury Marauder for a long time, but even though it had 300hp, it wasn't sporty enough. That car only did a 15 second 1/4... the LS4 SS was a second quicker to 60, and a second quicker in the 1/4.

    I have 2012 3.6 vvt fwd does not bother me good in winter. Like it for every day driving. Driving it for over 2 years. Its laid back driving for me. When I need to pass or go fast, just punch it and it goes. I am a very defensive driver, this car works well for that. Not a agressive driver. My full coverage is cheap, clean driver. My Impala is mechanically sound no issues. 305 hp v6 good on gas. Have kept it stock for now. Thinking about some upgrades soon. OD in pedal works well, tall gears is diferrent. First car that I have owned with that. People can have there own opinion about these Impalas. It does not change my opinion. It is a Chevy and that is what I drive.

    I've had my 2006 Chevy Impala SS since April of 06 when I first got the car it had 7 miles on it. Car likes to eat tires and I have replaced a few hub bearings. And about 4 vent actuators and 1 torque converter. Car now has 98000 miles on it. These cars just like several of the 5.3 have oil consumption issues because of the DOD or AFM. With all those problems still love the car glad I bought it. Still hauls ass.

    I love those things. I have an '04 SS Indy, and I had an '08 SS. Torque oversees is very dangerous in that car if you can't handle its transition points!. But it hauled ass like crazy!! GM was nuts for putting all that power in a front wheel drive car. But it could do every bit of 154 mph. Bury the needle lol. The '04 SS is more sturdy, and the possibilities on that supercharged 3800 are endless. So I had to say goodbye to the '08. But I do miss it!

  • @111himan
    @111himan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you jerking the wheels or is that a massive amount of torque steer that looks completely off putting for a higher powered engine in that car. If its jerking around that much on a 0-60 holy shit, i know these cars had glass transmission but now you have to hold on to the wheel or you hit the ditch

      The 06-09 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport package came with a stock 5.3L LS4 in conjunction with the FWD 4T65E-HD transmission. Unfortunately this particular model is fairly notorious for utterly destroying the transaxle well within what's considered to be the prime of the car's expected lifespan. The Impala wasn't the only vehicle inflicted with this problem, this actually became quite an issue for most Manufacturers with sedans utilizing similar GM based FWD V8 drivetrains at the time. I would imagine that when looking back at it now, bolting a V8 producing 323lbs•ft of torque onto a mildly beefed up 4T65E transmssion that's only been designed to handle the 214lbs•ft from a 3.5L V6 was probably not the best call... Especially being that with a few minor modifications the 4T80E was probably a much better candidate for the job. Thankfully if you're like me and you own one of these front tire burning beasts, this small hurdle can be easily overcome by having your local shop perform a complete stage 3 rebuild on your trans... But be ready to cough it up, because likely to set you back anywhere from $2500.00 to $3000.00 after labor cost. If you are confident enough with your own mechanical skills, to acquire all of the parts that are required to overhaul the transmission was somewhere in the ballpark of $850.00 or so... Well, that's pretty close to what it all cost last time I priced everything online 6 months ago.

      Robert Lengyel but v8 is made for more burnouts and drag races v6 wouldnt last if u ran it like an ss lol u need to study more my friend has a 2017 v6 limited impala ( new only 45.000 on the odo) 303hp its fast and responds good but its nothing like the ss...

    • @robertlengyel3084

      Tony Montana study more my friend?? Hmm, I've been to many drag races, I've seen v8s get blown away by 4 cylinders and get crushed by many v6s. In fact myself I have smoked a 2009 impala ss, and a few mustang gts..

    • @tunakpreston8240
      @tunakpreston8240 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a well tuned v6, that's why. If you give this 5.3 a tune and custom exhaust, it'll easily push 400. gm likes to undertune their cars to ensure maximum reliability. Ford does the same thing. I have a 3.9 v8 from jaguar in my LS and it makes 280. 1.4 extra litres and only 23 hp is really lame though (lol). My engine is not tuned at all either. You just need to take it to a shop and get a good tune man. Easy and fun! One shop told me I can make an easy 360-370 hp with a custom exhaust setup and a tune! I just can't afford it at the moment!

    • @adamwadley1978
      @adamwadley1978 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the low end torque you get 330lbs at 3500 rpm vs 240lbs on a v6 at 5000 rpm. Fwd with 300hp is like 330 compared to rwd.

      You got to realize the car is a lot newer even if its a v8 it was from like 06 to 07 all this newer cars have a lot more hp thats the point cars get better and better including the 4 cylinders try racing a 2012 v8 model u will get smoked

      I have an 07 MCSS with the front wheel drive LS4 and really questioned wether i would like it or not. I love it. The torque steer is a bit of a pain but its managable. My first car was an 87 MCSS so coming from rwd v8 powered cars to fwd was a bit odd. My 07 MCSS though would eat my 87 alive. For what it is its pretty good performance wise.
