This is one of those songs, the more you listen to it, the better it gets... I wasn't entirely sold on this version the first time I heard it (And I AM a HUGE Angelina Jordan fan!) but now I love it and seem to have to come back to it every day. But beyond that I think maybe there is a bit of a statement here as well. She is calmly sitting with legs crossed (no dancing or movement but in complete control) before monochromatic sets that say "listen, don't watch", and with her left arm remaining relaxed and quiet (no gesturing, certainly no glove). There were not even any close-ups of her face as she sings. I think Angelina is telling the story from Billie Jean's perspective and for the first time I truly feel like I know the story the song was meant to convey. Angelina is the best singer storyteller IMHO and she always makes me feel like I am part of the story. This version is so true to the original and at the same time so different. There are many references to the original way MJ sang it, specially the uuhh, aahhh, mimic MJ's small shouts, "shrieks" (don't know how to call the, lol) but in Angelina's style.
