As you might read in the novel by Andy here in the comments (thanks for that Andy)... this song has quite a backstory. It went through some turbulent times among the fans over the last few years, with many not knowing if this is a song that should be supported or not. At one point it had become a divisive topic in general. With one camp saying it was stolen and shouldn't be shared, and the other camp saying, "but it's so good, it must be heard!". At some point over the last year people from both sides seemed to have all merged and all landed on... "It's just so good!!" ...and rightfully so IMO. The "controversy" of it has worn off and become old news. Now it's just about the vocal magic she was able to create here... at 10 years old.... seriously... 10!!! It's just mind boggling!

The song was promoted by him to major singers and refused for the lyrics suicidal ending. It got released by Brandon Lowry, its in the category of explicit content and can't be aired in radio and TV. I believe it would be also blocked by many countries that take suicide problems very seriously if released by a major singer. This demo was made to promote the song, hardly someone can believe that Brandon never has known about it, as he meets personally Angelina, that sings this demo of the song exclusively for him. A cover of the song, changing the lyrics, is unlikely to occur, as it was already published, rendering it a "dead song".

When Angelina sings, there´s no X-factor. There´s an A-factor that´s set aside exclusive for (A)ngelina. Something no one mentione is the work the photographers put´s into her videos. Like this one, the black and white still photo´s does so much to communicate the harmony in this song. The photographers she has around her are either pure genius or they working overtime busting out these quality photoshoots to this video and so many other songs by her.

Hi Guys, I am a fan of AJ already, hardly i say any comments as it is mostly agreeable on the stunning variables performance. However, i kind of read the comments on controversy of this song last part where Angelina had a very adverse opinion to the suicidal aspect. I looked back the " summertime VDO in Norway AGT " and you can recall the judges had the comments about how powerful how voices is to the soul of people. Take that in her mind from 8 years old to 10th. She may have thought that ( and i think it is actually ). Her voice and singing ability has that power to influence to the negative side of life ( which certainly she is trying to avoid ). It is then fair and very respectful to what she belief in. You guys can go back to that AGT competition's comments from the judges. You will see if you are the smart girl who is singing. You know the impact of you song over people's feeling. and that is what she plan to do. We should respect this angle of her and it is not about who wrote the song. Who sing that song into our soul, matters most. because, we feels it. I listened to Babyfuzz version, no disrespect, the song is meaningful but delivered much better/ best by AJ version :)
The fact that she sang like this with all this emotion and soul at the age of ten is flat out mind-blowing. There's still a lot of people that have never heard of her and look at me like I'm from outer space when l talk about her or suggest them listening to her. There's a photo out there of her hugging a statue of Amy in a small English town, plus if you listen to many of Amy's recordings like she has, and realize you have the ability to emulate them by you having an acrobatic voice like Amy, things like 'Amy's' style of riffs, runs, and breathy releases are so evident. Must give credit where credit is due and Amy has influenced Angelina more than any other singer, whether you want to admit it or not.
I believe Dinah Washington was also one of the early jazz singers that Angelina was impressed by. It should be noted that when you hear her sing songs by Billie, Dinah & Ella, she stays very much 'on script', not really deviating. This isn't the case with regard to Amy, for she was so different than any other jazz singer, applying inflections, breathy air, acrobatic riffs and runs, that Angelina began incorporating into many of her 'non jazz standards' like this one (I'm Still Holding Out For You). This is pure Amy, for no other jazz singer ever sounded like her. That is, until Angelina came along with a voice that could do all that Amy's voice could do.........and probably more. If Amy had a daughter it would have been Angelina, for sure.

As you might read in the novel by Andy here in the comments (thanks for that Andy)... this song has quite a backstory. It went through some turbulent times among the fans over the last few years, with many not knowing if this is a song that should be supported or not. At one point it had become a divisive topic in general. With one camp saying it was stolen and shouldn't be shared, and the other camp saying, "but it's so good, it must be heard!". At some point over the last year people from both sides seemed to have all merged and all landed on... "It's just so good!!" ...and rightfully so IMO. The "controversy" of it has worn off and become old news. Now it's just about the vocal magic she was able to create here... at 10 years old.... seriously... 10!!! It's just mind boggling!

The song was promoted by him to major singers and refused for the lyrics suicidal ending. It got released by Brandon Lowry, its in the category of explicit content and can't be aired in radio and TV. I believe it would be also blocked by many countries that take suicide problems very seriously if released by a major singer. This demo was made to promote the song, hardly someone can believe that Brandon never has known about it, as he meets personally Angelina, that sings this demo of the song exclusively for him.
A cover of the song, changing the lyrics, is unlikely to occur, as it was already published, rendering it a "dead song".

When Angelina sings, there´s no X-factor. There´s an A-factor that´s set aside exclusive for (A)ngelina. Something no one mentione is the work the photographers put´s into her videos. Like this one, the black and white still photo´s does so much to communicate the harmony in this song. The photographers she has around her are either pure genius or they working overtime busting out these quality photoshoots to this video and so many other songs by her.

Hi Guys, I am a fan of AJ already, hardly i say any comments as it is mostly agreeable on the stunning variables performance. However, i kind of read the comments on controversy of this song last part where Angelina had a very adverse opinion to the suicidal aspect. I looked back the " summertime VDO in Norway AGT " and you can recall the judges had the comments about how powerful how voices is to the soul of people. Take that in her mind from 8 years old to 10th. She may have thought that ( and i think it is actually ). Her voice and singing ability has that power to influence to the negative side of life ( which certainly she is trying to avoid ). It is then fair and very respectful to what she belief in. You guys can go back to that AGT competition's comments from the judges. You will see if you are the smart girl who is singing. You know the impact of you song over people's feeling. and that is what she plan to do. We should respect this angle of her and it is not about who wrote the song. Who sing that song into our soul, matters most. because, we feels it.

The song is written by Brandon Lowry (Baby Fuzz), and the somewhat confusing story about how it was "leaked" and not officially released is explained in Andy Schnell's comments, so I won't attempt to go into that. You said something that struck a chord with me about Angelina's music making the world a better place. I think if you asked Angelina how she would like to be remembered when she is gone, she would say that I made the world a better place. I believe there is nothing more important to her. She's that rare combination of dreamer and doer, and those are the ones that tend to make the greatest impact on the world. These are just a few examples and were done before she covered Amy. If you pay attention, there's her breathy voice, vocal fry, glissando, melismas, vibrato, incredible phrasing and dynamics, etc.

It’s actually the whole idea of the song… I’m just delusionally holding out in some monk-like vow of abstinence and loyalty that is incredibly self-destructive.” Now him saying self-destructive doesn’t mean suicide. He also talks about being brought up in the church. Going down to the river and putting your head in the water is very clearly referencing baptism. And baptism is about cleansing of the soul and forgiveness of sins. So in my opinion the ending is very metaphorical about this young man trying to move on from this failed relationship

We will never know the official story 2 why Angelina stopped singing this song. But, from the very get go when this song was released, the rumor has circulated that the reason Angelina stopped singing this song was because her mom did not like the lyrics referencing " suicide " & that is why Angelina refused to sing this song. It has been stated that Angelina asked Baby Fuzzy 2 CHANGE the lyrics as far as the "suicide" but Baby Fuzzy REFUSED.
This story will NEVER OFFICIALLY get resolved until Angelina addresses it.
We can all agree, this song was a MISSED opportunity 4 both parties involved. Maybe in time, as Angelina becomes FAMOUS, her fans, who have loved this song, might get their wish & this song will get RELEASED.

I am not an Angelina expert but do enjoy her music. I do enjoy analysis of lyrics and poetry. Writers often use metaphorical lyrics and symbolism in their writing. Water is a very powerful symbol of life, cleansing, rebirth. So why we just agree to disagree on the interpretation of the lyrics.
