Informative video for sure. What you did forget though was the motor mount info, I removed my V6 adapters and tried bolting on new 350 mounts and not all the bolts lined up so I'm working on figuring that out now.
I ended up bolting the V8 mount in and the top two holes lined up but the bottom middle one was off by a tiny bit, ended up using a step bit on both sides and made it work. Now time to drop the engine in lol
In addition, of course I found out when the I got the bolts through the motor mount, the V8 bolts are like 1/2" longer and you do need it. I couldn't use the original bolts.
Bought a '97 Astro AWD with a '95 Suburban 350 TBI v-8 installed. Poor acceleration, gauges don't work. Wiring harness from V-6 original to van. Friend says computer does not recognize the V-8. I see videos with conversions V-6 to Vortec 5.7 but not similar to my conversion. Do not know who did conversion - I do not think they finished. Would appreciate any ideas. Van is rust free from Oregon Thanks
Correct me if i am wrong but 96 and up is vortec v8 not tbi. Vortec also went to 8 injectors rather 2 as the tbi setup has. Vortec also had the ecu in the engine bay. 88-94 is the same sqaure dash. 95 the dash changed and also still had tbi. And 95 could be that they put the ecu in the engine bay due to the interior change.
I have a '99 safari with a 4.3, pulling a 3700 lb trailer makes it sound like it's working a little too hard, I found a '93 chevy 1500 stepside for 300 bucks, 5-speed standard, would it actually be worth the hassle to go v-8 or do you think a 4-3 would pull it?
I'm 66, and I've only ever owned 3 Chey's in my life, a '99 4x4 s-10 and a '66 Impala ragtop with a 283, 2 speed. the 4.3 in the s-10 seemed pretty ballsy and I ran it till the wheels fell off haulin' firewood. The Safari I've had for 2 years now with just now 173 K on it. Ha, I'll never buy another Found On Road Dead after watching your video. The older Ford's always seemed to be nothing, nothing interchanges after a few years. I was told you have to use the 5.7 standard flywheels on the 4.3 swap? Help an Old Seabee out here? Thanks.
do you know about a 1993 chevy c1500 2wd my truck has the ecm in the glove box but its the older style with a small chip looking prom chip i tried starting it with the v6 prom chip itll start run for a minute or so then stall do you know what prom chip id need the doner truck i had the computer was a newer one like the one in this video thanks joel
it's too small and will fry, Yannick Doc on TH-cam did a V8 swap on his 4.3 astrovan, he used the stock 4.3 torque converter and it burnt out the 4L60 in a few days!
I wish every individual that makes a video does it with the recording item, iphone, video cam, etc. with the volume on HIGH. i can not even hear this gentleman talking. My comp. settings are on high for volume and also the speaker system attached to it. It's a shame

I had no issues with mine but they were a pain to install

Great video, had to speed it up to 1.5x but no big deal. Solid info.
No problem

Correct v8 96+ are vortec
Your not going to believe it I just did this exact swap two weeks ago
how did it turn out man?
Do you have any info regarding this same swap, but with Manual Transmission? I was surprised it was not discussed
That I don't beleive it or not cause I have not done the swap but as far as engine side it all be the same.
What about from 1998 Chevy Silverado 4.3l v6 to a 1998 5.7l vortec engine
It will still be the same concept the wiring might be a little different cause yours is spider injected.
Learned a lot thanks
Yw

Nice informative video!
Thanks
My v6 had two knock sensors so that’s more confusing because my motor only had one I extended the guage wire and other knock sensor
Will extending sensors matter if i swap the motor with the v8 harness ecm and fuse box?
Won't need 2 then this only applies 2 v6 harness
Do have a link for the ecm connector from v6 to v8 ecm
What you mean ? Its all one huge harness.
That’s funny my 250 came out of an 89 and the get wasn’t in the way
Omg I should’ve listened to your video lmao you just said what I did what about the ecu
Pretty good
What if I used the v6 harness on the v8
I’m confused about the torque converter why wont it work?

Hopefully this Helps if you need to see the engine playlist install click this link--------->th-cam.com/play/PLMk_yJGG8I6wPdBpL104_q6B1sQXNZfJN.html
What about going from a 5.7 V8 to a43 V6 TBI that's actually what I'm doing now
It be the same just reverse

Sorry brother
Not on 88-93 at least maybe 95
