if you watch wonder years today you get a double dose of nostalgia, the nostalgia within the nostalgia. a show that spans basically 4 decades. a show from the late 80's to early 90's that's set in the late 60's to early 70's.
Try mash every episode has meaning not a single one is bad i did not like it as a kid. I could not understand it fully then when i went back an watched the whole thing as an adult it blew my mine how good an profound it really is. All the cast is wonderful but Alan Alda puts in an master performance in every episode.
I grew up with this show, Its one of those coming of age shows that comes along once in a lifetime, they don't make shows like these anymore. You fall inlove with the characters and you connect with them. Just rewatched it on Netflix and i was sad to see it end. You'll never see anything like this ever again
It takes a lot to make me cry. I lost count of the number of episodes that brought me to tears. As an editor, I appreciate the incredible producing, directing, acting and editing. It is a great body of work that remains unique to this day.
When Winnie tells Kevin she'd met someone else. When Kevin comes home from the party and his dad comforts him. When Wart is sitting on the bench at the baseball field after coming back from Vietnam. When Kevin goes to see Winnie after her accident...
That kiss in the last episode was so symbolic. I love how the writers of the show have put in so much of depth to it, whether on purpose or it just happened to be that way, but I really admire that. In the pilot episode where they share their first kiss, it's Kevin who puts his jacket on Winnie like sort of wrapping her in his arms, and in the last episode, it's Winnie who wraps Kevin in her arms. That's perfect.
I'm a year older than Kevin was supposed to be. This was basically my childhood, brought back so many memories & evoked so many feelings. Many episodes moved me to tears. Thank you Neal Marlens & Carol Black.
That was me as well. I think the characters all graduated High School in 1974, and I graduated in 1973, so close enough. I was a Winnie who had a Kevin from about the 8th grade through the end of high school, and like the characters, we ebbed and flowed in our relationship. I even moved and went to a different school, like Winnie did. This show just brings back all those early teen emotions. I haven't seen my Kevin since the summer after we graduated. Love all the music and styles shown throughout the years of the show. Spot on!
the end it's like a stab in the heart, but so real... I didn't end with my sweetheart either, and it's interesting to think that I still love her like a teenager... and also very sad.
I love how the center of it was the narration , like there’s more narration then Fred Savage actually talking, everyone can relate, they had a best friend, a tough old man, a big crush on a girl
The brilliance of The Wonder Year was even though it set in the late 60s and early 70s, people of all ages could watch it and be reminded of their own childhood, when ever it was. For me, the early 80s. I was still living in real life what I was watching Kevin Arnold living on my tv. This was probably the most true to life television show I've ever seen.
True, same for me but I wonder if kids today would have the same experience when watching this. My childhood was in the 80s and early 90s too but so much has changed starting from the early 2000s. I started rewatching the episodes yesterday and in the first season Kevin and Paul want to learn about the female body and had to go to a library to steal a book about Sex and I remember what a mystery sex and the female anatomy were to me too as a child. Nowadays kids can and have seen everything they could ever want to know about that topic by simply doing a google search. Although I think that this show is one of the best ever created, a lot is lost forever for the newer generations.
@@hourenschaiss2 you know, I'm going to have to agree with you, it is different now. I kinda wish you hadn't commented, because now I'm sad lol but, Where are you rewatching The Wonder Years? I want to see it again.
@@Mario_Gillette Oh I'm so sorry. I didn't want to make you feel sad :) Well I have to admit that I downloaded them since I couldn't find it on a streaming site here in Europe but if you are based in the U.S, I think they are available on Hulu. I am nearly done with season 2 now and I can't tell you how many times I already laughed out loud and/or cried. Nostalgia is hitting me so hard.
@@Mario_Gillette Ok, I think I just found what you are looking for. Is there a way to message somebody directly on youtube? Otherwise I will comment under one of your videos.
Wonder Years holds up over time. It was about the Silent Generation raising the Boomers...but I can get nostalgic about my childhood watching it. Lived in the suburbs, great childhood that had generational gap arguments within family being early Boomers and me being an early Millennial...obviously not as turbulent as those times, but a lot of parallels with Vietnam/Iraq and each generation making sense of a "new world" with different perspectives.
How lovely and charming and warm are these three? It’s clear they were a loving and humble cast, and don’t resent, but rather embrace the roles that “put them on the map”. So refreshing!!
Winnie smile is the most beautiful smile i have ever seen....back on those years,i really fell in love with her smile, even now i still love her smile...
Even thought I was 52 when the Wonder Years show first aired , and I was 32 years old in 1968 when the story of this show began, this is one of my favorites
Fred seems like someone who would be fun to hang out with. I also love how excited they get watching the clips and reminiscing about the show. There are so many actors out there that want to forget their past and the roles they played but these three have such fond memories of The Wonder Years.
wonder years is one of the most nostalgic things that i have ever rediscovered due to the internet. for years i thought about it, thought about that song, n then one day many years later, i realized that its probably on utube, an there ya go. i used to love watchin the reruns back in the 90's, when i was a kid, n every episode ive watched i remember, i must have seen every episode many times over when i was a kid
This may be the best dais-based reunion/event I've ever seen on TH-cam, if not solely for the fact that it pretty much opens right away to the stuff I want to see. No extended intros, whatnot.
The casting was magic because they all look like each other. The kids look like their parents. Wayne like mom, Kevin like dad and even sister like both
yes one of the best pilots i have ever seen, and absolutely heartbreaking. Danica actually brings u "The Accident" which is one of my favorite episodes, it an example of one of those times where a song is so well used that it just becomes one with that scene for me. every time i ever hear "We've Got Tonight" now on the radio it always makes me think of that scene and i get a little emotional over it. thats a well done show.
One of the best shows. At my age I am about 8 years older. The daughter to college with Forever Young and the best ending plus Independence Day are so memorable and I grew up in the City. I would not trade that, but the show brought a lot back. Memories, tears happiness. The total ...
This was so great! Thanks for uploading :) I loved the question about Fred doing the voice over now as an adult since he is old enough to play his older self. I have often thought about this. He should really do it.
I started watching this show as a kid in 1993 . I loved the show then as I do now. It’s funny because as a kid I can relate to some of each and one character on the show. Now that I’m older I can relate to Kevin. I watched the last episode and it made me sad because as a kid you think you might end up with your childhood sweet heart of with someone you love but it doesn’t always work out that way
Came to the States in 1990 as a ten yr old boy, watched the show religiously even though I did not understand the dialogue. More than 30yrs later, I still have a crush on her.
Best pilot ever! Beautifully written and it really resonates with those of us that connect so intimately with the narrators closing words.... This series encompasses the best soundtrack, narration, and the actors (every one of them) were perfect!
That was truly touching.. I absolutely did NOT miss a single episode growing up. I was born in 1987 and The Wonder Years was one of my favorite non cartoon shows as a child. Winnie.... oh my god.. she was not only a childhood crush of mine but as they stated, she truly is everything that your first "butterflies" moment could be, she was just soo....uggghhhh just everything. I even once wrote a letter out and was going to send it to whomever I thought would reach the production and let them know that I would take Kevin's place 🤣🤣🤣 I will definitely be purchasing that set. Every time I hear Joe Cockers song I get a little emotional inside . Greatest show in its era PERIOD!!!! Kevin, Paul, Winnie..... God I wish I could have been there to see them.... great job guys!!!!!!!!!!!! Also on a second note, how would one obtain that locker set with the yearbook And all??? I must have this 👀
Same here, at least until he met Cara :) I truly fell in love with that girl and after nearly 25 years I still remember that scene of them at the drive-in cinema watching Planet of the Apes. Seeing her with a tear running down her cheek broke my teenage heart and I must have watched that episode a 100 times.
The Wonder Years was really about all of us 😊❤our lives, our innocence, our beliefs😌🥲hopefully there will be another show like this for another generation to watch and learn.
I love Fred’s explanation as to why Kevin and Winnie ultimately weren’t meant to be, I never thought of first love in that way. Our first love usually IS exactly that, our first but not our last. I really like that=)
princessUSA2 , I kind of agree with Fred, but then I don't. A first love is what you make it out to be. It can be a first love and nothing else or a first love and last love. The way Kevin talked about Winnie during the whole series, it seemed like she was his soulmate and he couldn't live without her. I can understand if they didn't want them together, but fans of the show deserved more of a reason then just saying it was a first love and things don't turn out the way you expect them to. I for one, would love to know why they broke up. Long distance,Winnie didn't want to get married, Kevin didn't want to get married or something other then what they said
I understand what he is saying, and I might agree if they hadn’t kept coming back to each other throughout the entire series, including moments before in the barn. She was more than just his first love, she was his soulmate and it was pretty clear that they made love that night int he barn. I might agree with him if it hadn’t been so jarring. For anyone who didn’t know Independence Day wasn’t not meant to be the series finale. The show was cancelled after. It was filmed and the end narration at the parade was written and added after the fact to give the show more closure.
Everyone can relate, I think it’s perfectly logical that they didn’t end up together, everyone has that memory of the huge crush that ran their adolescence, the imagination of it and the reality of it. It’s what seems to be a major point in the show
I went and bought it to day on DVD the first season and 2 season of the wonder years from shawn Overton. A fantastic! Job well done thank you guys you guys Rock!
I just rewatched the whole show as an adult and mother. It hits different now. I cried more. I understood more. I appreciated things more. I cried so hard on that last episode
oh I feel for you man!, mine wasn't my neighbor but still every time I see her around town the world just falls down for me, even though it's usually every 10 years or so, time doesn't really change how you feel about, I mean it's totally buried but still there.
Been binging TWY for a wk or so now. So glad I reconnected, alot I don't remember- was about 16 when it debuted. Glad I found this too. Too much to say about how I love this show even more.
Also, that last clip they show of Kevin and Winnie kissing...so surreal to see them watching themselves...I wonder if when they were filming that they were thinking to themselves...someday about 20 years from now on the other side of that camera lens there sits our future selves on a stage in an auditorium doing a reunion of this show and we will be watching ourselves!
I grew up in Long Island New York in the early 80’s till I moved west in 1991. This tv show reminds me of my childhood to, a, T! I watch it over and over and then, I watch it again and again, now with my 5 kids!
Ah man so like I never knew of this, cuz not watch tv. Thanks for posting ! Glad I found it in my search words I typed when looking for the song. Feed Savage so cute. I like him. He is so sweet. So true what Fred Savage said. My feel is the exact the same. Man I wish the clips had been in this too. Ugh. 😩😫
I never wanted this show to end lol I loved it as a kid, and now as an adult. And Fred Savage just makes me smile. He seems like such a nice person, always with a smile. :)
I watched a few sitcoms/dramas from the 80’s/90’s recently and this and Family Ties are classics. Although Fox was an amazing comedic actor on the show, Wonder Years was just ahead of it’s time. Liked how they broke the sitcom mold and didn’t have a studio audience/laugh track like every other TV show of that era
What makes it even more nostalgic is that our kids now won't get to experience a childhood like that. It's so sad. Take a drive around your neighborhood..you won't see one child outside playing..Now the kid's are inside, alone, watching shows about how boys can be girls and girls can be boys.
they have all always seem soo nice and approachable. Even though they're actors, Fred, Danica, & Josh ....you wouldn't be intimidated talking to them. still love this show.
I agree, it was 13 minutes in before I caught on that they weren't showing the clips and I was like "where the heck are the clips?" I wish they would have included them for us so that we would know what they were watching!
I would like to say. I enjoyed the wonder years . My family would watch this show at 9:00. We would have pizza night. So I will never forget this show.
Great upload! Thanks. One of my favorite shows of all time. I have hung out with Fred at a few Phish shows... Great guy. BTW Cooper looks incredible! Ha They have all aged very well.
It is very good to see a series with actors who do not separate from reality, who have the same virtues and defects as their characters and from which I can identify and say that I lived that, and that anywhere in the world there is another living what same.
This show...man...my childhood in South Africa, we used to sit as a family every Friday night and watch The Wonder Years, every episode of every season...
The Wonder Years is possibly my favourite show ever. I was 12/13 when it started, so I felt like I grew up alongside them. Despite all that I only watch it every now and then, because every episode feels like I am going through something. It drains me emotionally, I feel like I have to prepare myself for it, anytime I plan to watch. The writing, the direction, the production, the soundtrack and of course the acting - by these three, but also Dan Lauria, Ally Mills, Olivia d'Abo and Jason Hervey - was phenomenal. The only production that comes close to creating this kind of emotion, is one of the best films ever made, Stand By Me. It is so difficult to capture the joy and pain of adolescence - I honestly can't think of another example on par with the two I have mentioned.
if you watch wonder years today you get a double dose of nostalgia, the nostalgia within the nostalgia. a show that spans basically 4 decades. a show from the late 80's to early 90's that's set in the late 60's to early 70's.

Fuzzy Puppet on the dvd collection which I have they do commentary for it 25 years later and they also commentate on all the takes that weren't used
we all will do so after our shows :-)
No clips
I mean what else would they be thinking lolol
I grew up in Long Island New York in the early 80’s till I moved west in 1991. This tv show reminds me of my childhood to, a, T! I watch it over and over and then, I watch it again and again, now with my 5 kids!
Just got done watching wonder years on Hulu brought back tons of memories when I wasn’t born
Ugh. 😩😫
Fred savage is still adorable. They all are.
I never wanted this show to end lol I loved it as a kid, and now as an adult. And Fred Savage just makes me smile. He seems like such a nice person, always with a smile. :)
This show is about my life as a kid in the sixties. I was born in the 80s.
We were glued to the TV when it first aired. The fascination is still the same. It fueled our imagination.
Its because their moms are in office or working from home
Best Show! Watched it along with Full House and Family Matters
they have all always seem soo nice and approachable. Even though they're actors, Fred, Danica, & Josh ....you wouldn't be intimidated talking to them. still love this show.
I would love to have actually seen these clips that they are referring to
Right, can't call it the "full event" without the clips...
I agree, it was 13 minutes in before I caught on that they weren't showing the clips and I was like "where the heck are the clips?" I wish they would have included them for us so that we would know what they were watching!
I agree
I would like to say. I enjoyed the wonder years . My family would watch this show at 9:00. We would have pizza night. So I will never forget this show.
Hands down the best tv show in the 80's 90's
they all look good, specially winnie cooper. i see you girl.
Such a nostalgic look at adolescence, it was such a great idea for the show, I think most of it is so well written and special for the viewers.
I still love Winnie Cooper LMAO!
My favorite show at that time
Mine to Fred Savage was my first crush.
Fred still has the 11 year old face from when he played Kevin. He’s a good lookin guy. 😁
Great upload! Thanks. One of my favorite shows of all time. I have hung out with Fred at a few Phish shows... Great guy.
BTW Cooper looks incredible! Ha They have all aged very well.
Just Beautiful KIDS... I got my 1st from my 4 yr old GIRL....when I was 3....I think... Tears of Joy
Fred's analysis of the show is exceptional.
loved this show, from canada, you guys make good shows
It is very good to see a series with actors who do not separate from reality, who have the same virtues and defects as their characters and from which I can identify and say that I lived that, and that anywhere in the world there is another living what same.
Good reunion a little upset the clips weren't showed though it would have brought it together
This show...man...my childhood in South Africa, we used to sit as a family every Friday night and watch The Wonder Years, every episode of every season...

That was my life back in the '60s. So terrific, so nostalgic.
*Why did I ALWAYS know for a fact that Winnie would grow up to be super model hot??!!*
She looks super cute not super model hot
This three guys will be loved forever❤.
i really miss this shows
This series used to be on British TV and I really enjoyed it at the time, the few episodes I watched.
It is so difficult to capture the joy and pain of adolescence - I honestly can't think of another example on par with the two I have mentioned.
they should do a reunion movie that takes place in the 80's
or a New series but done in the Early 80's
Don Avan he meant another show set in the 80s dumb ass
no I think Popeye meant do one of them in the 1980s but they would have to be playing 20-somethings or early 30s
I support the idea....
I wouldn't mind one that takes place in the 90's.
It was one of my fovourites tv show, actually, I continue watching it. Thnaks guy for made this kind of entreteniment
